Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms - 2 Bath w/Sleeper Sofa.

We are located on the northern tip of the island... on a pristine white sandy beach overlooking the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico known as "Rum Point". There are 4 acres of private undeveloped land to the back of the property filled with tropical birds and island wildlife... this makes our home very private and quiet!!!

To the front of our home is the Gulf of Mexico, just 30 steps and you can walk right in!

Once you arrive at the dock, you will be directed to your golf cart which will be your island transportation during your stay. The property is a short 7-8 minute cart ride from the dock. Once you get settled into Rainbows End, you can explore the island with the furnished golf cart, take advantage of our optional Island Club VIP Membership which offers free bicycle and kayak use, free beach chairs and umbrellas, use of 2 swimming pools, tennis courts and other VIP amenities, or just relax and enjoy our beach house.

When traveling to a barrier island a beach front rental is a really must! The rhythmic sound of waves softly crashing just feet from your dinner table, spectacular sunsets from the porch or the beach, walk directly into the sparkling waters of the Gulf at any time!

The island also offers miles of nature trails for hiking and exploring, over 600 acres of Federal Wildlife Preserve is one of the island’s many treasures. Miles of pristine and un- populated beaches, and depending on wind direction…always a calm beach to enjoy somewhere on the island.

North Captiva Island is a true offshore island, boat or plane access only, golf carts and bicycles on sandy trails vs cars and roads, yet all the conveniences of shore. The island has about 300 home owners, 4 bars/restaurants, a popular pool bar & grill, marina grill, small convenience store, guided fishing and boating tours, gift shop, boat rentals, etc. Once you arrive, you won’t want or need to leave!

Ferries run throughout the day, $20 to shore, 20 minute boat ride, you can leave almost anytime, you just won’t want to! Also daily tour boats depart for island hopping, dolphin watching and grocery runs.

Give us a call or email, we would love to have you visit!!!!!!! The only bad part is, you won't want to leave :)

Rainbows End was magnificent

  • 5 of 5

As good as expected. Beach, birds, dolphins, and manatees...impressed by how much wildlife we saw during our stay, and so quiet and lovely. Really helped to use Sandies Grocery service to get all the food in the house before we arrived. Also loved our fat-tired bike rentals which worked great all over, though seems like most folks prefer their golf carts.

The Perfect Beach House

  • 5 of 5

I don't know how you can get a house this close to the beach THIS CLEAN AND SPOTLESS. Everything was pristine and beautiful. Our host was waiting on us at the Barnacle Phil marina when the Island Girl ferry arrived and took us to the house in the golf cart that goes with the house. At Rainbow's End, they've thought of everything. Coffee in the morning, wine in the evening, nothing ever tasted so good while sitting on that screened porch. We saw a group of manatee swim by, dolphins, pelicans crashing into the water to catch fish.

North Captiva is the perfect mix of remote and luxury. We actually had groceries delivered prior to our visit and found them put away neatly in the kitchen. There is a small convenience store if more is needed. We found everything we needed at the house to enjoy cooking our own breakfast in the mornings but wanted to experience the local fare during the day. My husband enjoyed the steak at The Boathouse restaurant, but my favorite meal was the delicious Snapper Francaise served at Over The Waterfront. Seating is very limited at both restaurants so make a reservation! The other option for lunch or dinner is Barnacle Phil's or the Tiki Bar near Mango's Island Store.

Rainbow's End has a membership to North Captiva Island Club so we had a couple of pools and use of kayaks and bicycles. At Boat's and Fun you can rent a boat or hire a guide. Heck, they'll go get fresh fish for you at the market if you want. Instead of renting a boat, we hired a guide, Matias, who was amazing. He took us over to Cabbage Key for the original Cheeseburger in Paradise, then cruising around the end of Cayo Casto. We saw a massive sting ray and even had dolphins chasing us and playing in our wake. After snorkeling a sand bar for a bit, we cruised the beach front of North Captiva looking at houses before making our way back to NCIC. Matias was a fabulous guide and obviously loves his job.

We regret we didn't make time for fishing as the tarpon were beginning to bite. This is a fisherman's paradise and we will definitely be back with this as a must-do.

North Captiva is a fabulous place for families. So safe and relaxed. Beware: This is an island only one step from being off the grid. Do not get in a hurry here. Put your toes in the water and watch the amazing sunset on the beach at Rainbow's End. Aaaaahhh!!

If you want nightlife, shopping or restaurants this not your place. Great house right on the beach. Absolutely beautiful. You will have take your food with you on the ferry. There is a golf cart included with the rental. We rented a boat one day and went to caya costa to see the manatees and gators then to cabbage key for lunch where supposedly jimmy buffett got his inspiration for cheeseburger in paradise song. Overall great vacation. This house was on the northwest part of the island. There were people who rented on the west and south part of the island who came up to the north end because the winds and sand blowing were so strong. So this house was perfectly positioned if the winds are out of the south, southwest or east

Simply Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

All of the great reviews are absolutely true about the island and this adorable beach house. It was perfect for our family of three. The property is quaint, well maintained and perfectly situated on the beach. This is the best chill vacation we have ever taken and our 11 year old daughter is already asking when we can go back. Mindy was very easy to work with and helped plan our trip. The outdoor shower and the golf carts help complete this island experience.

This is a unique vacation that does require a bit more planning but again it is so worth it. Listen to all the other reviews when they say bring "Less clothes & more food". All you need is a bathing suit, cover-up, flip flops and a sweatshirt for the chill in the evening air. Not kidding, there are no fancy restaurants or anyone to dress-up for on this island (and it is awesome). We pre-ordered food from Sandie's delivery service and it was waiting in the fridge when we go there for just a $75 fee. Totally worth it. We also rented a boat through Boats & Fun for the day and went over to Captiva (attached to Sanibel Island) for something different. It was a fun day trip with lots of dolphins, manatees and lots of fun at the Bubble Room. We even went parasailing on the beach while we were there (they also had waverunners, jet boots and other water activites for rent right on the beach).

Be sure to pre-book the ferries (back & forth) to the island, pre-order your food, and look into any excursions beforehand. Just go ahead and book it!!

Fantastic! Beautiful home and great location

  • 5 of 5

Mindy is super easy to work with. She provided great advice on what to bring to the island and how to get there. Her home is perfect. We loved the screened in porch, walking the beach, watching the dolphins swim by, touring the island in the golf cart, walking though the state park and generally having a very relaxing vacation. She had plenty of beach towels and the pantry had lots of spices. Take heed of her suggestions to pack less clothes and more food. The Island store really doesn't have much so plan your meals and grocery list carefully. We enjoyed grilling out at sunset. We recommend eating at Barncle's for lunch and be sure to try the homemade ice cream. It is divine. If you want a little higher end food make dinner reservations at Over the Waterfront and The Boathouse. Very small dining areas, but good food. We brought our 65 lb dog and he had a blast. There is a large wooded area near the house where he loved to chase lizards We found the Island Girl charter group very accommodating with our dog and handling all our luggage including tons of groceries. Mindy met us at the dock and made sure that we got settled. I agree with the other posts what a great place to stay!!

What a perfect, relaxing delight!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third year in a row to Rainbow's End, and every year has been better than the last. The house is just the right size for a couple, and the location is simply perfect. Whether sitting on the screened in porch or chilling out on the beach, every moment is filled with the wonderful murmur of the waves. So many dolphin sightings - we never get tired of that!

The property is clean, well-maintained and beautiful, and working with Mindy was a breeze - no hiccups at all. The kitchen is well appointed (we love to cook!), and the outdoor shower is magical (I never even used the inside shower for the 11 days we were there). The only problem was that we had to leave (to come back to snow and ice - yuck!).

We certainly plan on returning - just a perfect vacation and Rainbow's End was the heart of it!
