About Bobby Ericsson
Hi; Bobby here. I'm a Northern Virginia transplant to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia! About 20 years ago we purchased "Skyline Cottage" near Harpers Ferry in the Blue Ridge mountains of West Virginia with a 75 mile view of the Shenandoah Valley below. We fell in love with this beautiful area and wonderful local people, and it didn't take long to switch from weekenders to permanent residents! I have recently made Austin, Tx. my primary residence but cannot part with my beloved "Skyline Cottage" - my little piece of heaven! I have owned other VRBO rentals here on this mountain for the past 15 years (Moonridge Cottage and Terrapin Cottage) and have now decided to make my home into a VRBO rental for the months that I am not here. I have derived great pleasure from the incredible guests from all over the world who have visited my other cottages in the past, and look forward to continuing this tradition. Come, relax, and enjoy my little piece of heaven, and allow me to pamper you a bit!
Bobby Ericsson purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Bobby Ericsson chose Harpers Ferry
I love the natural beauty of this area, the wildlife, the cultural heritage, the history, the quaint little towns, plus we're only an hour from Fairfax, Va., so even though we feel really remote, there is easy access to the big city. It's really the best of all worlds!
What makes this Cottage unique
I think you will enjoy - as I do - making the trek up to the Appalachian Trail, whether just for an hour or two or a day hike into historic Harpers Ferry. I highly recommend the 'Maryland Heights' hike to the top of the mountain where you will have an incredible view of the town of Harpers Ferry and the two rivers - Shenandoah and Potomac - merging. This is a half day round trip hike atop the mountain that the Amtrak train tunnels through, on its way to DC and beyond. See my photos at this listing for the view from the top! For the less hearty, a short hike to 'Jefferson Rock' right in the midst of historic Harpers Ferry will allow you to share the view that Thomas Jefferson said was 'worth a trip across the ocean' to see'! Or ~ spend a day at the Charles Town races and slots and be sure to visit the incredible 'Terrace Restaurant' where you will have the perfect terraced view of the horse races, including a monitor at your table for closer observation and a buffet that you will long remember!

I definitely recommend it.
Scenic spot, excellent view, beautiful home
We had a large group stay here for an extended weekend, and it was a beautiful and charming place to be! We loved the visit. The view from the living room and deck is fantastic. Plenty of kitchen wares too. It was nice being so close to Harpers Ferry and scenic areas.
Perfect Weekend Getaway
Bobby was a delight to rent from. The cottage was very clean and was stocked with everything we needed. I recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away from the city and is need of some piece and quiet.
Wonderful house; beautiful location
This is a beautiful house in a gorgeous location. We had a wonderful week hiking on the nearby Appalachian Trail, biking on the C&O Canal Towpath, and enjoying the history and natural scenery. Bobby was a gracious hostess and we would highly recommend this property.

We toured the sights Harpers Ferry , Battlefields , Washington DC, and had a perfect time !! I will be sure and recommend it to all my friends and would return for another visit !!!!
Wow! What an incredibly charming cottage. The rustic decor, the splendid views and everything you would want or need in this cozy and beautifully decorated cottage. You can get away from it all and just relax, but yet you are still close enough for day trips to Washington D.C. or any one of the numerous other historic sites nearby. A group of us from Texas went there for a visit and had a wonderful time. Bobby was a great hostess and made sure we had everything we needed. There's plenty to see and do here including great places to hike. You will absolutely love your stay at this wonderful cottage.
We're the naturalists paradise - located below the Appalachian Trail, near Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers (the 2 merge at Harpers Ferry), some of the best white water rafting in the US, zip lines down the mountain!
