We were supposed to be staying in this cottage when Hurricane Matthew hit. We were terribly disappointed that we couldn't go, but could not have been more pleased with how well the transaction was handled. Cheryl worked with us up to the last minute and was willing to prorate the rental if we went for a partial trip and then gave us a full refund when we were unable to go at all. It helped make a difficult situation so much better.
As an aside, or family has gone to Kiawah Island for years. The place is fantastic!
We were 5 adults and 1child staying over Labor Day week. First, Cheryl is great to deal with, answering all questions fully & quickly. We had a wonderful stay in this house. Each room was its own retreat with private bathroom. My husband especially liked the desk in the master as he did have to work on his computer a little ;-( & that space gave him privacy. The kitchen was roomy to prepare meals with a huge granite countertop. We particularly like staying in this area of Kiawah to have easy access to the Villiage. The bike trails are the best and that this owner has access to all the parks and pools is key if you have kids (great for adults, too). Kiawah is a marvelous place and this house fit all our needs. Would definitely recommend this property.
This home is in an excellent location and the access to the resort amenities is so nice-especially with children! We have been to Kiawah for several years now and this may be one of the very best homes we have stayed in as far as size, location, access to beach, ability to use resort pools, etc. The property owner, Cheryl was amazing and extremely easy to work with! Thank you for a great trip!
This is our 4th year for our family reunion and our 4th year at this location. The condo is perfect in every way for our family - lots of room for adults and kids to move around and not feel confined, lots of amenities- full, updated kitchen, W/D, large master suite for the grandparents as well as a 2nd master, great screened-in porch with new, comfortable furniture, as well as property amenities - use of fabulous pools (which is essential with kids but adults love it too!), etc. Always lots of activities going on to keep the kids busy and happy, which makes the adults happy! We especially love cycling on the bike paths and beach. And often spot deer (young and old) while cycling the path. We have been here at different times - May, July, September- and have enjoyed each month equally. The weather is always great! I would highly recommend this unit anytime! We can't wait to come back next year!
In a word Ditto to the review(I think I am in love). We have been coming to Kiawah for 25 years and have enjoyed each area we have stayed in but this time everything was perfect. The house was more than what we had expected. More then enough of everything a family needed for comfort, in the house plus all the amenities of the island. Also most important to us, a hose to wash the sand from our bikes and a nice peaceful location.
The grand children were thrilled with it all. Not so much getting up at 5:30 am to attend the sunrise service, but we balanced it off with the Easter Egg hunt and the Egg toss. The week was chucked full of swimming at the heated pool, biking the beach, collecting shells, jumping the waves with the Boogie boards, riding bikes to the river to watch for the Dolphins, pottery time at the Straw Market and being able to put their kayaks in the Kiawah river to take in even more wildlife offered by their adventure on Kiawah. Nighttime found us all well satisfied with each days adventure therefore we would top it off with the 3 minute walk to the ice cream shop at the Straw Market. We are already looking forward to our next visit to this perfect cottage....A big thank you to the property owner for letting us enjoy her beautiful cottage and all her help with our lovely vacation.
We just returned from a most magical vacation on Kiawah Island. The owner of this property was fabulous to work with...she was extraordinarily responsive to my unending fountain of questions and showed high integrity.
Now on to the important stuff...the location and the house. One item that struck me was the overall condition of the house. Everything was in great working order...not even a burned out lightbulb. This is a well maintained house. I found the house tastefully decorated with nice wood flooring and pleasing built ins. The kitchen was wonderful...granite countertops, plenty of working space and cabinetry, and fun serving-ware. I appreciated that there was even room to store our groceries/ dry goods and not have them clutter the countertop.
There was tons of seating....3 tables AND at least 6 bar stools at the granite countertop. We were able to have the kids sit at the counter and there was a large table that accommodated all of the adults for meals (at least 8 chairs).
The screened in porch was a lovely place to gather and admire the natural beauty surrounding the house. We either walked or rode our bike to the beach. We loved how safe we felt having our young children bike in the area of the house. There was very little automotive traffic from the house to the beach and the bike trails near the house are amazing.
What I think sets this property apart from other properties on VRBO is the included resort amenities. Due to the owner's affiliation with the resort we were able to use the HEATED pools at Night Heron Park. While it was 65 degrees outside the kids comfortably swam in the pool. I truly believe that you would be hard pressed to find a better value than this property. I have researched the VRBO properties extensively on Kiawah. Very few have resort amenities included. It is possible to rent through the resort, but based on my research that will cost you significantly more per week. Also, finding a property that has 2 queen beds in one bedroom makes this a rare find.
I am not a person who typically goes to the same place twice. Before the week was out my group confirmed that we are returning next year. We were all in love with Kiawah. If you have never been to Kiawah, read no more. Book this property. As a point of reference I have done beach rentals in Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Outer Banks, Gulf Shores, Siesta Key, Sanibel Island, Myrtle Beach, etc. Kiawah has taken over as #1 in my heart.
