The Farmhouse is located west of Sequim and is perched just above the Old Olympic Discovery Trail. It is about one mile from the Juan De Fuca Strait , viewed from the second story. The Farmhouse and dairy barn sit on aproximately 10 acres with lots of room for family fun. Come see the Lavender festival in July. Sequim is considered one the largest producers of lavender and has become reknowned in the field second to Provance, France.
Please be aware there are live farm animals on the property that includes cows, pigs, and chickens. Please be kind and do not feed the animals or try to pet them. There is a chance you may get hurt.
My husband and I live in the San Franscico bay area. We always wanted to have a B&B. This is the closest we can get until we retire. This is our green acre getaway and a treasure we want to share with everyone.
Janie James purchased this farmhouse in 2010
It is serene, just wait and see.
Lots of room for family and friends. Centrallt located to all the attractions.
We had a marvelous time at the farmhouse. It was perfect for the two grandchildren and 5 adults. Everyone had a comfortable room. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious, and we appreciated having a mud-room where the dog could be housed when we didn't take her with us on excursions. The fire pit was a particular bonus, as it enabled us to make SMORES! For a large family vacation, your property could not be beat. Thanks for allowing us to stay with you!
My gang of friends (5 families, all the adults in our late 30s and early 40s) go away together every year. This was our 9th year, so our 9th house rental together. The house was clean and in good shape. The kitchen was great for cooking and the dining room and living room great for gathering. There were enough dishes and pots and pans for us to do what we wanted in the kitchen (we cooked all our dinners in the house). We enjoyed visiting the piggies that live on the property, and took walks both from the house and hikes on Dungeness Spit and in the National Park.
The four bedrooms upstairs are all fairly nice (the futon on the bunk bed was reported to be pretty uncomfortable). The fold out couch was rated as good, for a fold out couch. I was worried that only two bathrooms would become an issue for our group but it did not, everyone was able to have their needs met. The bed in the "blue room" upstairs was VERY high off the ground (something to think about if your group includes older folks) and the stairs were fairly steep and narrow.
There are a few things we found odd, after 9 years of doing this. One is that the deposit structure was unlike any other house we'd rented (we are used to getting 100% of our deposit back). Another was that the confirmation email included a recommendation that we bring our own toilet paper, paper towels and dish detergent. Apparently they don't stock these other than the first roll of paper in each bathroom (which feels cheep when we've paid so much for the rental. The confirmation email included directions but not an address, so we couldn't use GPS to get to the house. None of these are deal breakers, they just, on balance keep me from recommending the house as highly as I could.
We had a big family reunion at National Olympic National Park. Most of our relatives stayed in Red Lion Hotel. While us (my husband, me, my two sons' families, total of six adults and 6 kids including a baby) rented this farm house for five nights. This farm house is very convenient, easy access to most of the interesting points, restaurants, and shopping. The house is clean, cozy and beautifully updated. Everyone enjoyed the stay and the kids, especially, had wonderful time playing games, Foosball, and chatting together in the house and at the back yard, playing on the swings, climbing the trees, feeding the pigs. We really did not want to leave and hope to come back some day. One small thing: when we arrived the house (Saturday around 5 PM), a smoke alarm was making sound. Once I called the manager, someone came within ten minutes to take the battery off and came back next day (Sunday morning) to put a new battery in. The service was pretty impressive. Overall, very pleasant stay! Thank you, Janie, for sharing your farm house with us!
We travel to a National Park each year as a family of 11: 5 kids and 6 adults. Ages of children range from 17-3. We had a wonderful vacation at this house. We arrived in the late afternoon after shopping in Sequim for groceries. The house was ready for us, very clean and we quickly determined the sleeping arrangements. Our 17 yo grandson slept on the first floor. This allowed him to play his electronic games and have his own space. Behind his room was a large bathroom with tub and shower. The bathroom was shared with everyone such as the little girls for baths. Upstairs in the 4 bedrooms eveyone else slept and the accomodations where fine. We all shared a bathroom there. As the grandmother I was nervous about access but we worked this out without problems. The house has a foosball table and a large backyard which allowed the kids to play outside after dinner. In addition, there is a barn with pigs and an owl which entertained everyone since none of us were farmers. As one review pointed out, the house is close to Port Angles and that is where we shopped. Our location allowed us to visit large sections of the park from Lake Quinault to Hurricane Ridge. We all appreciated the home with plenty of cooking space and numerous dishes. Having a dishwasher was a plus for a large group as was the washing machine. There is no phone in the home and I did not send my cellphone number to the owner which created some confusion but all worked out for us. The hosts were very helpful with directions and tips and the property manager was helpful as well. We enjoyed our stay. Our biggest issue was learning we needed to be back in Portland by 3PM for wedding of good friends after we had arrived in Sequim so we had to pack up everything quickly.
Our extended family stayed here for a longish weekend in June. The house is great for big groups - huge living spaces and outdoor spaces. Very clean, nicely furnished; very quiet. Owner can be hard to reach by email, but was very easy to work with. There are others apparently living on the property in a mobile home unit, and there were 4 pigs there - none of this was troublesome but wasn't clear in the posting of the property.
Our family and two other families celebrated Thanksgiving and spend wonderful days in that house. The house was clean and ready for us and owners were responding to our questions through the phone right away and did everything for our stay to be comfortable. Lots of outdoor activities nearby for those who preferred them or just a cozy time inside of the house equipped with anything you need. No one wanted to leave. Thank you for sharing your house with us!
Historic Agnew Farmhouse country living at it's best! Just minutes from Sequim, Port Angeles, Dungeness Spit, Olympic Game Farm, Discovery Trail, and the Olympic National Park. The Agnew Farmhouse has the same sunny weather as Sequim. This area is in the rain-shadow of the Olympics and is known as the 'Blue Hole' for the much lower rainfall and more frequent sunshine. The ferries to Seattle and Vancouver island are easily accessed from the central location of the Agnew Farmhouse. Must see Victoria!
