Spectacular Ocean Views, Sunsets, 40' Solar Heated Salt Water Pool With Spa

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Eia Makou (Here we are!) is the name of our fabulous home with both gorgeous ocean and mountain views. For decades our family traveled to the Big Island. Our kids grew up learning Hawaiian dances and Polynesian culture. Finally, we were able to buy our dream home, and now we share it with you. Please see reviews submitted by our guests, many of whom return every year. Hawaii is special. A Hawaiian Kahu blessed our home, and we have furnished it Hawaiian style, with every modern amenity blended into the spirit of Aloha. The furnishings reflect the combination of excitement and relaxation and all are in the Hawaiian tradition, from the lime and lemon trees (pick your own) to the historic Hawaiian memorabilia on the walls. There are TVs in all three bedrooms as well as in the great room. The kitchen is as complete as one could wish. Eia Makou is the perfect spot for family bonding and offers a base for exploring the diversity of the Big Island, from beaches to volcanoes. E komo mai ('please come in.')

Why Barbara Yamanaka chose Kohala Estates

Perfect spot for whale watching and temperature.

What makes this house unique

Close to everything important to visiting Hawaii. This home is located just 10 minutes from the best beach on the Big Island, Hapuna Beach. There are also 5 other beaches within a 20 minute drive to choose from.

Just 3 miles down the road you can catch your Whale watching boat that leaves from the Kawaihae Harbor, along with sunset cruises, deep sea fishing expeditions and scuba diving excursions.

There are excellent restaurants serving Local fast foods as well as Seafood, Gourmet pizza, Pacific Cuisine, Sushi, Burgers, Ice Cream and Shave Ice, along with night time music and dancing. 4-5 star restaurants are within the 20 minute driving range, and shopping for just about any and all tastes can be found at the Waikoloa King and Queen shops. For even more options try The Shops at Mauna Lani. Also located at The Shops at Mauna Lani is a full grocery store so that you can stock up on what you need.

The weather is consistant here with only 7 ' of rain on avarage per year.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Every year my wife and I rent a house for vacation.

Usually in Maui. This was our first trip to the Big Island. I must tell you

that everything exceeded our expectations for a great vacation.

The house was perfect. We really appreciated the work that you put into

making the house clean and comfortable. All of the little touches and

amenities really make a difference, so thank you. We have stayed in a lot of

homes over the years, this was one of the best. On our last day we were

trying to figure out when we could come back!

Loved the Big Island! Like I said it was our first trip and we thought it

was great. So much less crowded than Maui. But with lots to do. The people

were really friendly, which we thought was really nice. Didn't do the

Volcano, we are saving that one for next time.

Thanks again and we will be back next year!

What a great place, overlooking the coast. Cool evening breezes and a great spa/pool and patio for us to enjoy. Lunches out while exploring and home gourmet dinners and wine.

The well stocked kitchen made preparing the great variety of local produce easy. A great wine store in nearby Waimea completed the dinners. The rooms spacious, we wanted for nothing. The location provides expansive open vistas yet the house and grounds are very private. Everything is well maintained and overseen by our wonderful hostess Barb. We look forward to returning here and continuing our adventures on the Big Island of Hawaii.

This property is so impressive! It is at the end of the road, so quiet and so private. It is clean and well stocked with whatever you may need. From plenty of bathroom & beach towels to anything you may need in the kitchen. It is beautifully maintained and the décor is lovely.

It has a lovely view and the pool is clean and warm.

Beautiful home on the Big Island

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable, private, quiet home. All the amenities you need are provided. Gorgeous lap pool and spa with fantastic ocean view! Master bedroom is on opposite side of house from the other bedrooms making it great for 2or 3 couples to share costs and enjoy privacy. We highly recommend the house. Location was perfect as well. Forty-five minutes from Kona airport. Close enough to all good beaches and activities, yet far enough away from the hustle-bustle of Kona for a very quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

My husband, son (8) and I had a incredible week staying at this lovely house. Barbara has thought of everything-- you will want/need nothing during your time here. If you decide to adventure for the day it is a wonderful place to come back to-- if you lazy the day away it's a wonderful place to do that too. We would love to stay here every time we come to the Big Island!!!

Eia makou - Amazing View, Pool, Spa and Home

  • 5 of 5

We Loved our stay at this home and would love to come back. The view and sunsets are just beautiful. The House is Big, roomy and very clean. The rooms are spacious and the bed is comfortable, the Master Bathroom is Five stars. The Solar heated pool is the best I have ever been in and would love to have at my home. The Spa is slow to heat up, but once it does there is plenty of room for all 6 guest. The Kitchen has all the gadgets necessary to cook, if that is what you love to do on vacation. The toaster was not working but was replaced within a few days, very quick response from the owner. The home is near other homes but you wouldn't know it, house is designed to have all the privacy one would want. Pool light switches were a little hard to find, maybe instructions should be added in the house book. The Air conditioner in the master bedroom is a bit noisy but we seemed to sleep thru it. Overall this house is our favorite of the 4 different homes we have rented on VRBO and is at the top of our list to visit again when we return to the Big Island of Hawaii, Maholo.
