Couldn"t ask for a cleaner and well-stocked vacation home. Location was excellent! This was our second stay here and it was as good as the first. We will be returning.

Perfect Place for a Creeper/Barter Weekend w/Friends

  • 5 of 5

Great location, ideal set-up for two couples, lovely screened porch to watch people getting ready to start their ride on the Creeper and the trains rumble by (noise not an issue).Janet has thought of everything. This house includes all the little "extras" that make it seem like a real home away from home -- four outlets in the bathroom, make-up mirror, lots of fluffy towels, plenty of good lighting and ceiling fans everywhere, fully-equipped kitchen, games and DVDs, detergent pods and a washer and dryer just in case you get soaked while biking! Even with a bath in each BR, the powder room came in handy at times. And to top it all off, there's a wildlife sanctuary in the backyard!

Positively Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We chose this adorable cottage for a girls' getaway weekend in Abingdon. We could not have found a more perfect location, nor a more perfect place to stay. The cottage itself is stunning - the gardens, the floors, the decor. Large and open inside with 2 really good sized bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Beds are super comfortable, plenty of towels and adorable bathrooms. Screened porch out back was exactly what we needed to sit until the wee hours of the morning, drinking wine and catching up. The location turned out to be great - across the street from 128 Pecan, a local favorite restaurant, the Blue Hills market (a health food store) and next door to an adorable knitting shop, A Likely Yarn. We walked the Creeper extension (starts just behind the house) to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning and to the Barter to see Savannah Sipping Society. Once we arrived, we didn't get in our cars again until it was time to go home. Janet was so easy to work with - even left us a couple of copies of a Nashville magazine (since one of us was coming from Nashville). Highly recommend. Will definitely be back. Thank you, Janet for sharing your beautiful home.

Owner's Response: You got all the high well as the pleasure of staying home. Reunions and family travel are where the Guest House really shines, with plenty of room to spread out, great location, personal space/privacy and a truly excellent location! When I built it in 2012, I included all the features I would want in a vacation home and I'm so glad you and your friends enjoyed it. There are new things happening all the time and I can't wait for you to come back.

This is a fantastic home with a fantastic owner! As soon as I walked in, I immediately felt "at home". Beautiful hard wood floors throughout the home. The kitchen, dining area, and living area were very open and perfect for gathering without feeling crowded at all. Modern and up to date! Very new feel and very well appointed. There's a half bath in the hallway where the bedrooms are. Beautiful countertop/mirror and a nice size for a half bath. Also in the hallway is a double closet with books, some games, and dvds. The selection of dvds is wide ranging from Finding Nemo to Animal House. Definitely something for everyone.

The 2 bedroom suites are both good sizes, with the front bedroom being a bit larger. Both have a small desk and chair, as well as another reading chair. Nice decor. Plenty of lights. Comfortable beds!

Both bathrooms appear to be same size. Very nice decor. Pocket doors in both bathrooms are great since they don't take up any room. The hairdryers are mounted on the wall, have an integrated nightlight, and work very well. They were nicer than most hotel hairdryers. Towels were fluffy and plentiful. Bathrooms were very well lit and also had heaters in the ceiling for those cold mornings!

Unexpected details- the supplied shampoo/conditioner and soap. Cute travel sized packaging with The Park Street Guest House logo/info printed on them. Bottled water/chocolate/earplugs (which we didn't need) on each bedside table.

There's a laundry room with washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. My son LOVED this since he could bring his laundry from the dorm and wash it while visiting with family. He brought/used his own pods and dryer sheets, but the owner supplies a respectable amount for those who may need it.

There is a cute screened in back porch with a table and 4 chairs. Although we didn't get to use it, I know it would be a great place to wind down in the evening. During the day, you can see the entrance to The Creeper Trail from the back porch! Yes, it's that close!

From the front porch, 128 Pecan restaurant is seen within half a block. Easy walking distance! I could have literally thrown a rock and hit the parking lot.

Overall, The Park Street Guest House is wonderful! I couldn't think of a thing that needed to change. I'd live there if I could! Janet, the owner, is a human version of all information about the Abingdon area. She is an excellent spokesperson for the area restaurants, shops, activities, etc. I can't wait to visit again!

Owner's Response: We so enjoyed having your family visit and truly make it your "home away from home". How cozy having your college-age son doing his laundry while you're all present and comfortable. So much better than perching on the extra bed in the hotel room and sharing the bathroom! It sounds as if you made really good use of our proximity to fun, food, recreation...and time to relax and catch up. Thanks so much for your visit. Come again soon!
