Romantic and rare riverfront property with breathtaking Hudson River/Catskill Mountain views from all angles of this newly built single family chalet and the surrounding 23 private waterfront acres. Beautiful secluded 2000 sqft cottage with indoor/outdoor heated pool and hot tub is meant as a couple's private retreat with all of the benefits of a true country experience while maintaining a spa quality luxury and wireless connections to the world. Gorgeous vacation getaway for all seasons. Situated in the heart of New York's historic Hudson River Valley, it is an artist and photographer's dream. With abundant wildlife, sloped trails toward the river and adjacent creek it is made for the nature lover in us all. Historic mansions dot the river in both directions providing excellent excursions. Inviting local farms abound in surrounding villages with fresh eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, produce and 'U Pick 'em' orchards in season - apples, pears, cherries, peaches, grapes, berries and even pick your own Christmas trees. Two wineries just minutes away, ample shopping and dining, hiking, scenic drives, live performances...it's all here.
This elaborate cottage is the ultimate 'do nothing but relax' or 'do everything under the sun' vacation spot. Either way, grab a bottle of wine and enjoy!
The beauty of the valley speaks for itself. Located 100 miles north of NYC, Columbia County is a slowed pace country wonder with surprising upsides: tremendous historic significance, stimulating cultural events, quality restaurants, quaint shopping, serious antiquing, abundant outdoor activities and sunsets matched by no other.
It's all about the view! The moment you step onto the ridge you will be taken away by the mountains and the mighty Hudson River. This multi-county area is steeped in historic properties and is the heart and soul of the Hudson River School of Painting. Artists Thomas Cole and Fredric Church built their estates a stone's throw up the river. Roosevelts, Vanderbilts and Astors have long called this valley their home.
Although there are ample gently rolling trails, hiiking around the entire 23 acres can be challenging as the steep slopes of the river and abutting kill jet up to a high ridge. This was once a Native American campground overlooking these bodies of water. Arrowheads and artifacts have been found here for years. The beauty is not lost on the abundant wildlife that feeds here. Wild turkeys, deer, ducks, geese and bald eagles are common visitors. It's a wonderful place to explore.
This place is amazing! We spent the morning at the farmers market and then went back to the house and made a big brunch! We hiked around the property and then took a swim... Now we're going to barbeque and eat by the pool. Tomorrow were going apple picking :-) not a bad weekend!
This is a unique place in that the house has been set on an estate-like hill above the Hudson river. The views of the river and mountains are breathtaking. The house itself is well cared for and there are many thoughtful touches like powerful binoculars, labeled drawers, great towels, etc. The only drawback is that the bed seems small for two people. A king size bed would make this a perfect retreat to get away from it all.
Stayed for a great long weekend with our twin 5yr girls. Could have easily spent a week here. Really nice house, and everything is set up with the guest in mind. Really everything feature of the house is thought through, and high quality. Very private location and amazing view.
The cottage is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the beauty of the Hudson River and Valley. The sunsets and river view are beyond words. The home is VERY clean and well maintained. They provide everything you need and more. We were greeted with a basket full of goodies and sparkling wine. What a nice touch! The pool and hot tub were relaxing and glistening clean. The cottage location couldn’t be better. There is so much to see and do so close by. Debbie and Muriel were so helpful with all our questions. I highly recommend a stay at the Cottage.
The fact that the owners are allowing strangers to lease their property is truly SHOCKING considering the quality and beauty. I cannot say I would be so generous and thoughtful if I was in the same position. This property is totally secluded with a view that NEVER stops. The interior is all the best of quality with nothing overlooked (although I can't find the microwave). It is also one of the cleanest properties I've leased. If I could give this property 10 stars, I would without any hesitation. This house leaves me dreaming about the beauty of architecture and the true value of tranquility. This property is being leased for far less than the market allows.
This property was enjoyable even on a rainy day. It was well stocked with all the needed items for cooking, and eating in. The views spectacular. The staff helped over the phone, and by email with particulars, and couldn't have been nicer. Well appointed, and well designed chalet to spend a few days exploring the shops, and restaurants of Main Street in Hudson.
Everything about our 12 night stay was wonderful! The views were amazing! Lots of wildlife came to visit daily - deer, turkeys, eagles, hawks, fox, woodchuck, etc. The pool was great for a morning dip before heading out to hike some of the trails. The cottage had everything necessary! Our only criticism, it might be time for a new bed and if you do, make it a king sized. We will definitely be back again to this perfect vacation property!
