We love Lake Simcoe and being in the lake, and we love learning more about our travelling friends. Our home is known to be open as well to our guests, but we also respect the privacy of those who are looking to just 'get away' :)
Lauren Helmkay purchased this house in 2012
This home is a real 'retreat'; you'll find space to make your own, and common areas to enjoy company. The lake is the draw of this house, whether for summer swimming, or winter ice fishing. The house has a large back yard as well where you might find a badmitton net set up, or a fire burning in the fire pit.
An hour north of Toronto, this is cottage country without the commute in the long traffic north. The house itself offers spaciousness, cathedral ceilings, and an elegance that makes you feel you've landed somewhere really special.
My husband and I rented The Simcoe Lakehouse with our children and grandchildren this summer. In all we were 10. All our expectations were surpassed by this luxurious lakefront home with spectacular views from the bedrooms, front porch and beachfront dock. The sunsets were breathtaking.
The comfort and spacious 4 bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms were well equipped with towels all the toiletries. One of the bedrooms had an adorable nook with a crib which my grandson slept quite comfortably.
The gas barbecue on the back porch was very convenient. The large dining area accommodated the entire family around the dining table.
Entertainment with full TV cable, movies, CD's, games, books.
There was no time for boredom with the backyard activities, games, and fire pit. Must not forget the watercraft toys, provided fun for all.
It was great having Grant, the property manager nearby with the added personal touch of fresh herb garden and some of Grant's home-made pickles. To top it off, the humongous bag of theatre popcorn was the best!
We look forward to enjoying cottage life again in the future.
Our family of nine, Including a 6 year old, a 3 year old and a 2 year old had a fabulous vacation on Lake Simcoe. Lauren, Grant and RJ, were so lovely and made sure that we had everything we needed for a great time. The lake house was absolutely beautiful. It had everything we needed. It was spacious and so well maintained. There was a homey feel to it. Toronto has so much to offer, but other than going to a Blue Jays game, we didn't want to leave the lake house. We are already excited about returning next year!
First and foremost, Lauren [owner] was pleasant, thorough and very prompt with all online communication. Dealing with her was a pleasure.
The drive up from Toronto couldn't have been easier and smoother. Our 'tour guide' was waiting for us when we drove up, welcoming us and giving us a tour of the home, grounds and dock area. By the end of it, we could not come up with a question; it was THAT thorough, yet concise.
The first thing we noticed when we got to the Lakehouse was how the, albeit, beautiful pictures did not do it justice. It was even lovelier. It felt like a boutique hotel disguised as a lakehouse. It even smelled amazing! Also, VERY VERY clean, especially considering the shear size and footprint.
Details, details, details. In the decor, the amenities, the equipment available to us, etc. From the DVD movies to the water sports/equipment, to the kitchen tools to the bedding, we truly overpacked for this well-equipped getaway. I can go on and on about the details but there is not enough space here.
We will definitely be returning to this gem [and will pack a lot less].
We had such a great time at this property. Lauren was extremely helpful and always available when needed.
We were A group of 10 and had an exquisite time. The property is absolutely stunning and so well kept with everytjing avaialble! I loved how accomadating the owners are. From the rooms to the water facilities, everything was top notch! Its a great place for families or a group of friends to head out and relax. My group and I would highly reccomend this place
To anyone! Thank you Lauren for such a great experience! Kind Regards
What a great place to stay. As soon as you walk into this home you don't want to leave. It is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to cook a fabulous meal. The beds are super comfortable. We would definitely recommend this property to families, couples and families. The owners are awesome. Thank you Lauren and Grant
We held our small family wedding there over the Thanksgiving long weekend. It's close enough to the GTA but still able to escape the city. Lauren and her brother Grant were so nice and helpful. I have nothing bad to say. The ceremony went well, we had a great time there. Almost everything you need is there! Seriously. Spices, pots, utensils and even female sanitary products to name a few. Lauren and Grant has thought everything thru. Thank you for the once in a life time memory!
Cottage country, 1 hour from Toronto.
Lake Simcoe, a short drive north of Toronto, offers some of the best fishing in Ontario. The lake is fished year round (pike, perch, whitefish, lake trout) and is famous for it's winterlake trout and whitefish bonanza.
