As soon as you step in the door of this ground level condominium, you've begun to relax.The large picture window with views of both the river and the ocean, and the shoreline of Monterey in the distance, are always visible from the living area (open style living room, a kitchen and dining room).

From the 2 sofas in the living room you can read peacefully, light a fire (on cool nights or in the winter), or watch a movie.

If you chose to cook, you don't have to be away from the outdoor views and can enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen to prepare happy hour for the beach or to put on the salmon for dinner. The glass doors off the living room take you to the deck, where you'll likely enjoy most meals. (The pelicans usually provide fascinating entertainment.)

The master bedroom, with California king bed and television, has its own full bath. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, sofa and trundle bed. There is a blow-up double mattress. Washer and dryer. Electric grill. Internet access.

The community includes tennis courts, basketball courts and lots of riding, walking paths.

About Lauri Pastrone

John and Mary Pastrone bought Pelican 75 in the 1960s so their 3 young sons could enjoy beach weekends and escape the heat of the San Jose area. Today, a 3rd generation of grandchildren enjoy the same surroundings their parents did 40 years ago. The property is currently managed by Lauri Pastrone, one of John and Mary's three daughters-in-law.

It's the ideal location at Pajaro Dunes. Quiet and private... in between the ocean and the river... with massive views of the ocean, river, and sand dunes. And it's ground level so that families can be indoors and out but still be together.

We have upgraded and updated over the past 5 years, including 2 full master bathrooms with dual showers, new furniture and many extras. And we have the best cleaning team in Pajaro Dunes.

Fully stocked with everything you could possibly need.... from kitchen gear to beach gear... all you have to bring is your food and clothing.

Heaven

We couldn't have asked for a lovelier spot for our family vacation. Pelican-75 was immaculate, well appointed, and very cozy. The upgraded baths and kitchen were a welcomed bonus. We spent hours combing the beach, building sand castles, and watching the birds. We loved the secure and private location, while being close enough to explore all the area has to offer. We will definitely return, and recommend to anyone planning a trip to the area.

Clean. Well equipped. Very secure. Good location only thing else we wanted was a hot tub

We do not recommend the sea harvest restaurant. It was not special and really not any alternatives to seafood. Really poor restaurant. We would recommend the blue ocean whale watching boat. That was an excellent experience and the crew was warm and friendly. We also took the chairs out to the beach and watched the sunset which was a great view. Overall we had a very nice stay and would come back.

wonderful little bungalo in pajaro dunes

Excellent location nestled perfectly between the river and the ocean. Wonderful bird watching. Great beach access. We came here with our 6 month old and it worked out great. We will definitely be back to pajaro dunes.

Fantastic place to stay in any season

We are so sad to leave! Pajaro Dunes is a perfect place to relax, explore and get to know the Monterey Bay Area. Mornings begin with sun rises that take your breath away. Panoramic views of the pacific and Pajaro river feel like you are in a remote, perfect place. Don't forget to bring your camera and binoculars for the birds and scenery.

Easy drives to Santa Cruz, Monterey, Capitola, Salinas, and Big Sur make this a great base. Watsonville is a town worth exploring for its small town charm and eating gems - Cowboy Cafe, Beach Street cafe offer good, down home breakfasts. Further afield, Aptos BBQ, in Aptos, had the best BBQ ever, the TRI TOP is amazing. It was so good, we had to go back and it did not disappoint.

Condo is fitted out very nicely, a home from home, all you could want ,with lots of books, .DVD's and music to choose from.

The deck offers a perfect place for breakfast, shaded and peaceful.

Pajaro Dunes is a gated beach community of the Central California Coast. Monterey and Carmel and 17-Mile Drive are all under 40 minutes away to the South. Santa Cruz is 20 minutes north. Watsonville offers all the shopping and restaurants a traveller needs should you never want to leave the beach town. The beaches of Pajaro Dunes are surprisingly private. Many sunsets can be taken in quietly and with a feeling of solitude. The bird watching at Pajaro is known worldwide. It is a protected site for nesting of Snowy Plovers.

It's easy to spend lazy days on the beach and venture out to Phil's for just caught salmon and snapper in the evening. Or, enjoy Mexican food at The Whole Enchilada at Moss Beach, both under 15 minutes door-to-door.
