We work very hard to make The Cottage at Where Water Falls a magical oasis just for you. After all, this mid-century cottage was built by my grandfather!
When you open the gate you'll discover an AMAZING private backyard. You'll hear a waterfall splashing next to a hot tub that's awaiting you & your favorite beverage. You'll feel the warmth of a fire pit (that uses real wood) to snuggle up & roast a s'more or two or three... Take a midday snooze on the hammock tucked in a small grove of redwoods. Rekindle that child within with a game of Ping-Pong or horseshoes.
Wanna come inside?
The interior is decorated in a fun yet relaxed retro style. The living room has a 'kick back & relax' feel with original wood walls, a wood burning stove, Foosball, lots of games & books to keep you entertained and of course many personalized touches throughout.
The updated kitchen is fully loaded - just bring the food!
Slip into the king size bed in the master bedroom and... RELAX. The bedroom has views of the redwoods & its own private bathroom. The second bedroom has a king size bed & decorated in a lighthearted style with original artwork & views of our garden. A second full bathroom is just down the hall.
There are twin roll-away beds (that can be rolled outside for the more adventurous!) to accommodate two more people.
The deck overlooks 70-year-old apple trees (that were planted by my great grandmother!) & the iconic redwoods. You'll hear chickens crowing in the distance and even an occasional wild turkey! I guarantee if you sit in our rocking chairs with your favorite beverage, you'll notice your worries melt away...
Whether it’s outdoor solitude that you desire or a little good old fashioned fun – you are sure to find it at The Cottage. Give yourself a reboot in our neck of the woods!
Other Amenities Include: gas BBQ, wood for fire pit & wood stove, cable TV, free Wi-Fi Internet, free local & long distance telephone, CD/DVD player, iPod cable to sound system, washing machine & dryer, parking off the street and of course the mountain views!
I grew up in Loma Mar and graduated from Pescadero High with 16 in my class! I'm a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked as an actor for almost 6 years in Los Angeles. But I started to experience withdrawals from not being around the redwoods and had to come back ;-)
I currently work in health care with the elder population and run The Cottage with my parents!
The Cottage was built by my grandfather in 1946. The home was a weekend getaway for my grandparents. My family goes back many generations in the Loma Mar area. Come see why Loma Mar is a very special place...at The Cottage!
There aren’t too many places left wherein less than an hour’s drive from the city, you are embraced by massive redwood trees, birds, banana slugs, running water and the stars in the night sky. In a time where it’s becoming more and more difficult to keep up with our busy lives, The Cottage offers a much needed retreat to de-stress and rejuvenate your soul - all surrounded by the pace of nature. Our wish is that guests will experience the tranquility and uniqueness The Cottage and Loma Mar has to give.
This was by far the best VBRO house we have rented! Amy was amazing from the initial contact. She goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and know all the sights and places to eat in the area. My husband and I were traveling with my cousin and her husband and our only regret was that we did not have more time to spend at the house. It is out in the country, but only about 15 minutes to the interesting little town of Pescadero, where we ate at Duartes (tried the artichoke/green chili soup) and a few minutes more to the beautiful Pescadero Beach. We used this cottage as home base for our drive down Highway 1. It was also an easy and beautiful drive into San Francisco from there as well. As for the house, it was very comfortable, nicely decorated and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Amy had music playing for us when we arrived and we were also treated to a wonderful welcome basket and note. The front porch was so peaceful with it's rocking chairs and swing. The back patio was amazing, nestled in the beautiful landscaping. We played ping pong, horseshoes and soaked in the hot tub by the little water falls. There was a hammock and swing up a little path behind the house also. The beds were very comfortable and the linens and towels were like new. We used the washer/dryer and were comfortable in the living room which was stocked with games for every age. I highly recommend this property. You will not be disappointed!
4 Moms+1 amazing sanctuary= an unforgettable weekend. We literally spent our first hour there just oooooohing and ahhhhhhing and discovering the endless amenities. We were already blown away with the website, correspondence and the welcome postcard in the mail, but then all the personal touches in the house, the amazing garden and whimsical decor, the welcome note and goodies....every sight line was filled with joy. The serenading frogs in the evening by the hot tub are a nice touch too ;) We will be back!
Everything was spotless, cottage was very thoughtfully decorated and equipped. Amy was very responsive.
It’s impossible to describe in words how great this cottage really is. I stayed here with four friends over New Years, and our three nights could not have been better. During the booking process, Amy took the initiative to provide us with information about the region, including activities, sites, and stores for supplies.
A generous welcome basket greeted us upon arrival, and it took us less than a minute to realize that the cottage managed to exceed our already sky-high expectations. The house is cozy and comfortable, and the kitchen (and grille) is fully equipped and spacious enough for all of us to lend a hand when making meals. With ping-pong, puzzles, board games, foosball, hot tub, horseshoes, a fireplace, etc, it was tempting to stay in the house for the full 72 hours! However, we were glad that we did venture out into the beautiful surroundings to enjoy the forest and coastline.
I’ve stayed in numerous vacation rentals while traveling over the last few years (and my mom actually owns one in San Francisco), but what sets Amy’s apart from all the rest is her attention to every minute detail. Nothing was out of place and everything that we could possibly need was provided.
I highly recommend Amy’s cottage and am looking forward to another trip in the near future!
What a perfect time we had at The Cottage at Where Water Falls. From the Welcoming Basket to all the other decorating touches, including the descriptions of the decorations on the walls, we felt right at home. The Cottage was full of everything we needed including the Ping Pong Table. There is lots of hiking in the San Mateo County Parks, and fall was a great time to come visit the Loma Mar area. We even went to the Pescadero Farmer's Market and several pumpkin farms. We would definitely come back for a visit to the area and stay at the Cottage!
Our weekend at the cottage was amazing! We didn't want to leave and are already talking about when we can go back.
We celebrated a birthday there and invited some guests over and each of them was so impressed by the property! It really has everything! Absolutely impossible to get bored there. It's beautiful, has a ton of fun amenities, and feels very comforting. The owner adds so many thoughtful, personal touches that make you feel truly welcome. What you see is definitely what you get from everything the website shows for this place - there were no negative surprises, only positive ones!
Can't wait to go back!!
