FOX RUN CABIN - RARE FIND WITH A CREEK AND A VIEW! AND YOUR OWN PERSONAL WATERFALL ONLY ABOUT A HALF MILE HIKE UP THE MOUNTAIN CREEK! We knew we had found a treasure the first time we saw FOX RUN. We immediately fell in love with it's naturally peaceful ambiance. In fact, we loved it so much we decided to purchase the property and share it with others from all over the world.
The minute you pull into the driveway at Fox Run you will view it's comfortable setting nestled down in front of a gorgeous mountain view. As you step out of your car you will hear the sounds of the rushing creek that streches the entire length of the property boundary.
Upon entering the cabin you will immediately notice the fine natural cherry floors, pine wood construction and the sweet wood aroma that you would expect in a custom hand built mountain cabin. It is open, airy and spacious. It is truly a gem.
Fox Run is undoubtedly one of the most popular cabins available for guests who want to come and enjoy the wonders of the Great Smoky Mountains!
It's so peaceful... Shhh!!! We've been told that God lives there. We're pretty sure he does!
Just read what some of our past guests have written in our guest book:
'We have fallen in love with Fox Run, especially the rockers on the expansive porch late in the evening. And with the soft bed and open windows with the rush of the little creek at night. Thanks to our great hosts who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant. We return to this area about every 10 years but Fox Run has made us want to return much sooner, (Maybe 6 Months).

'Spectacular views! We are celebrating our 16 year anniversary. What a place to celebrate! Fox Run is Great! Thank You for sharing it with us. It's so cozy. We love the porch and the rocking chairs, looking at the mountains, dreaming. The noise factor is so great, especially at night when all you hear is the creek and the animals. The hot tub was so relaxing after a day of shopping and checking out the area and so much to do. Living in Frankln NC at one time in my life, this was like coming home for me and a great adventure for my husband, who is from Long Island NY. There is nothing to complain about here. You just relax and enjoy God's country and look with amazement at what he has created for us to enjoy.'

We went tubing, rafting, hiking, biking, picked blueberries, raspberries, baked, canned, slept, played! Magical. For sure we will be back!'

'My Husband and I are celebrating 22 years of marriage. This place, (Fox Run) has been magical. Among our most magical moments, I'll hit the highlights.
1. Hummingbirds at the feeder
2. At night a field full of Fire Flies. Incredible!
3. The wild flowers were awesome
4. The peach and apple trees, blueberries and black berries were abundant!
5. Babbling creek - (meditation time)
6. The View!
7. The wonderful porch. I have no porch so coffee in the morning in the rocker on the porch is magical for me.
8. Enjoyed the birds.
9. Hot Tub Heaven!

'This was our 3rd year staying at Fox Run. It's nice staying at a familiar place. As always, we enjoyed the peace and quiet. This year we skipped white water rafting. Instead we went tubing in the GSM park. What a great time! We would highly recommend spending a day tubing the river. We also went on the great GSM train to the Nantahala Gorge. It was nice and relaxing. Thank You for providing a lovely and pleasant place to stay!'

Dear Future Guests,
We come all the way from Miami Fla. This is our second time staying at Fox Run. With that said, it's quite obvious that we had a great time. It is by far the best place to come and relax, with the breathtaking views and the wonderful silence, this vacation was very much needed and I highly recommend to everyone to stay at Fox Run. We hop you enjoy it here as much as we do!

Donnie Mohn purchased this cabin in 2006
We bought Fox Run in 2006 when we lived in Atlanta. Have always liked the Smoky Mountain region and Fox Run proved to be the perfect location for us to have access to all there is to do there. We like to go there on holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, July 4th are all great times to visit.but there really isn't a bad time to visit Fox Run
We had an excellent overall experience. The cabin was well kept and as described. Donnie even called to check on us to be sure things were in order. The last half mile or so of the drive up the mountain is very rugged, so be prepared for that. The directions are good, but there is limited signage, so try to arrive in daylight the first time. The land and surrounding area was beautiful. The sound of the rushing creek was like a natural white noise machine, you could even hear it from the bedroom! We stopped in Sylva on the way to the cabin and got supplies and food for the weekend. It was also a quick drive into Bryson City, one day we went and checked out the trains with our kids. The rest of the time we spent relaxing at the cabin, hiking around the area, and soaking in the hot tub. I would highly recommend it!
My three friends and I stayed at Fox Run for about a week during our Spring Break vacation. We were very impressed with the property and loved our stay! The location is beautiful, up in the mountains, with a great view. The cabin was also very nice and clean when we arrived. The waterfall located up the trail behind the house was very beautiful!!! I will say thought that the hike to the waterfall is pretty strenuous for teenagers, so it would not be accessible for everyone. We also brought our dog and she loved the trip as well! She was able to run free a decent amount around the cabin, but only because there was no one staying in the cabin next to us. There is another cabin relatively close to Fox Run so you may have to be a bit careful if you plan to bring pets! We had a great time hiking, eating, and white water rafting, and other activities in Bryson City and Asheville. There was plenty to do and so many beautiful sites to see! Overall, this was a great vacation for us!!
We had an awesome week at Fox Run. The cabin came with everything we needed, all we brought was food and personal items. The views are beautiful. the owner of the cabin was very nice and helpful. he was available anytime I needed him. We enjoyed having the neighbors dog over to visit, she is very sweet. I will definitely be back for another visit.
Wonderful, quiet getaway retreat. The steep walk to the waterfall was a highlight. It is gorgeous! The neighbors dog is friendly and fun, but will take your shoes if you leave them on the porch! The directions are a little difficult because there aren't street signs for the last two streets on the way to the cabin and we lost cell coverage. As the owner points out, you actually cross the creek in the car to get to the cabin. Our minivan had no problem doing it- it was just unexpected!
We loved our stay. Would love to come back.
My girlfriends and I needed a getaway so when my brother referred me to www.vrbo.com to search for a cabin, in what we'd already determined as our destination (Bryson City, NC), I was thrilled to find so many options. My contact with the owners of Fox Run was quickly responded to and not lacking in thorough and personalized information in response to what we were looking for and questions we had before committing to this cabin. The availability of the owner was, throughout the entire process, reliable, kind and helpful!
Fox Run is beautiful in both setting and decoration. The floor plan is generous, comfortable and extremely accommodating. From the cabin-length porch to the bathrooms, from the exclusivity of the hot tub and picnic table to the open feel of the living area and from the generous windows throughout to the outdoor fire pit was all well thought through and comfortable. My friends and I had plenty of room to move around and claim our favorite spot for reading (mine was one of the high-backed chairs by the porch door).
We were so impressed that my family will be taking a break from the beach this year to visit again for some true family time in the mountains of North Carolina in June.
This destination, Bryson City, is one that my husband and I were already familiar with and have always enjoyed. I think the cabin rental company we WERE using may have been officially fired because of my experience at Fox Run.
I highly recommend this cabin for travelers seeking any number of 'types' of getaways.
With all of that said, I suppose I should balance my rave reviews with only one disappointment and that is that there is a cabin rather close to this one (I believe it wasn't occupied while we were there) which steps in just a bit on the sense of complete privacy. This is, just for me, a perspective on a true mountain retreat that I prefer. But no one ever said that having neighbors doesn't also offer a sense of security.
Fox Run is highly, highly recommended overall and I encourage giving it a try. If you're able, I'm sure you will go back!
As a person who doesn't love visiting the mountains, I would love to come for a return visit! The scenery is breathtaking! We got lost trying to find the waterfall, and ended up finding so many other exciting treasures! The Internet and satellite television happened to be out, but that made for an even better trip! We ate, played games, and adventured, and didn't allow for modern technology to take away from the experience! Unfortunately, the hot tub seemed to be on the fritz, but again, I could not be happier about the overall experience!
