Stunning Setting, Ideal Location for a Premier, Private North Shore Getaway
"The heavens declare the glory of God and the earth shows His handiwork." Reserve your stay at Lutsen Lakehouse and you will experience this passage from the Book of Psalms as Lake Superior's thundering waves crash against the ledgerock shoreline, northern lights dance across the sky, and a full moon rises over the big lake they call Gitchigummi. And that's just the view outside.
Inside, you will appreciate the comforts of a beautiful, professionally-cleaned home. Unwind by a soothing fire in the massive wood-burning fieldstone fireplace, enjoy a meal from the fully-equiped kitchen and family times around the handcrafted dining room table, and then let the sound of Lake Superior’s waves lull you to sleep.
Enjoy all this and be just a few minutes from Lutsen Ski Resort, Superior Hiking Trail, Superior National Golf Course, North Shore cross-country ski trails, and a short drive to Grand Marais and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. After a day exploring, Tesla and electric vehicle owners can plug in to the fast-charging outlet at the house.
Special memories are made at Lutsen Lakehouse! On behalf of our family, I (David) look forward to being in touch with you.

SETTING: The 2200 square foot home sits on two acres and 200' of Lake Superior coastline. Dad and Mom started our family's love affair with the North Shore when they took their honeymoon up to Lake Superior and the Gunflint Trail way back in 1954. In the 1990's, we started taking regular trips up the North Shore, staying in various rental homes from Lutsen to Grand Marais. And then in 1999, we finally found a beautiful home on Lake Superior to call our own just down the road from Lutsen. We call it Lutsen Lakehouse. The house has been and continues to be a special home away from home for us. Dad and Mom have four children and seven grandchildren ... sixteen in all in the family. All of us love to head up to the cabin (usually not at the same time!) to hike and ski and take canoe trips into the Boundary Waters. Most of all though, we love sitting by a roaring fire and watching the many moods of Lake Superior. We enjoy sharing Lutsen Lakehouse with others who appreciate and respect the home and the North Shore as we do. I (David) would look forward to talking with you about staying at our home. We have many fond memories from our times there and hope you can visit and make some too! The Wheaton Family

Ski trip to Lutsen
Clean house, well appointed. Good location close to Lutsen for skiing. Thanks!
All the comforts of home with a killer view!
Lutsen Lakehouse just may become a family tradition for us. The setting, the appointments and the proximity to the crashing waves made this our favorite North Shore getaway. David Wheaton was a gracious host throughout the transaction. Even checking in with us mid-trip to see how our stay was going. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful, well-kept and appointed, modern, spacious but homey, accomodating owners.
We loved the location, setting, cabin and surrounding land. The cabin was beautifully decorated and nicely appointed with a spacious yet warm and cozy feeling. Amazing views of Lake Superior.
Amazing location and home to enjoy all the North Shore has to offer.
This home has an amazing location literally feet from Lake Superior. The sunrise and sunsets are breathtaking. So much to do along the North Shore and so nice to come home to the cozy comfort of the Lutsen Lake house. David the owner was extremely responsive to any questions and eager to assist. The caretaker is only a mile away and also very responsive to any questions. Lutsen skiing is only a few miles down the road as are many very cozy dining opportunities, many with all homemade menus. The hike to Oberg Mountain in the Winter at -17 degrees was one of the highlights. ;)
Thanks for a wonderfull Holiday escape David.
Perfect Vacation Home
We brought the family up for a little skiing vacation at Lutsen - this was the perfect place to stay. From the large stone fireplace to the big round kitchen table, everything about this home was a good fit for us. And the home was situated close to Lake Superior so you could hear the waves crashing ashore as you drifted off to sleep. Loved it!!
Wonderful Retreat Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lutsen Lakehouse. The setting and views were amazing! David was very responsive and wonderful to work with. This home is very well cared for, and deserving of guests honored to be in the home. It works great for a family gathering, and is ideally located for hiking and sightseeing. We enjoyed hiking Cascade River, Oberg Mtn, Devils Kettle at Magney S.P., and Eagle Mountain. The kitchen is very well stocked and we enjoyed meals in plus Naniboujou, Lutsen Lodge and Coho. We appreciated the Christian expressions and were honored to stay at this lovely home.
Lutsen is a top destination along Minnesota's dramatic North Shore of Lake Superior. Come visit to enjoy hiking, downhill and cross-country skiing, fishing, kayaking, golfing, wildlife watching, Boundary Waters canoeing ... and taking in the many moods of Lake Superior.
There are several area guide books in the house to help you plan your days.
