About Steve Larson
I love to travel and I enjoy helping others make the most of their travels. Feel free to call me if you have any questions about the house, Ashland or the surrounding area.
Steve Larson purchased this House in 2002
Why Steve Larson chose Siskiyou-Hargadine Historic District
We thought Ashland would be a great place to live and put a great amount of time, thought and expense into making this vintage Victorian a dream home. It was well worth it but now it is just me so I decided to make it available to visitors. I think you will have everything you need to enjoy your visit to Ashland. Hopefully you'll feel right at home. If you like to walk you won't ever have to move your car to explore all that Ashland has to offer.
What makes this House unique
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is our main attraction. It brings visitors from around the world eight months out of the year. It is also a very pretty town, nestled up against the foothills of the Siskiyou range. Because of our tourist population there are more theaters, 'off Bardway', and lots of good restaurants and great live music. Right in the heart of town we have a beautiful park that stretches a mile and a half along Lithia Creek. The park was designed by the same person that designed Golden Gate Park. There are lots of other city recreation such as basketball and tennis courts, a golf course, city owned ski mountain, a park with a large lake for sailing, fishing, speed boating, etc. There is white water rafting and jet boat tours on the Rouge River. We have great wine tasting at a variety of vintners in the area.

great location, house as advertised
Comfortable, with charm and all of the good and more challenging that goes with vintage
housing. Well equipped. Nice house for a family visit.
This house is in a nice location and was comfortable for our group of six.
We had plenty of space and a kitchen that allowed us to do all the cooking we wanted. The decor is beautiful and we found a magazine article on the coffee table about the history of this house. The back porch was a great place for morning coffee. The only challenge was a very high-tech shower off the master bedroom. It has lots of bells and whistles, but is very difficult to get in and out if you are short or have mobility issues. The air conditioning system was a blessing during this summer's wild fire season when air quality was poor.
Lovely, cozy home
This home is truly lovely. Comfortable beds, plenty of seating, sweet decor.
We really enjoyed our stay at Maxwell's. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. The property was very clean and comfortable. The stairs do squeak a bit but that only adds to the vintage charm. Having a grocery store less than a block away was very convenient. Be aware that although the house is well within walking distance to downtown, it may be a little far for elderly folks. We hope to stay here on our next visit to Ashland.
The BEST place to stay!
This is the BEST place to stay for the Ashland, Oregon, Shakespeare Festival. It's just an easy 1 mile walk to the three theatres. The house is fully equipped with a new dishwasher, laundry facilities, three bedrooms, and warm hospitality.
It’s actually 7/10 of a mile to the theaters about a 12 minute walk at a steady pace
A very charming house just outside the central core of downtown
It's a beautifully appointed house, very comfortable. My family and I had a good time staying there. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the house to the OSF theaters. There is a grocery store a stone's throw away, which is super convenient. Also great wi-fi.
A few things to know though: First, the parking is around the back and it takes a bit of work to find the entrance to the alley to get to it. Also, it's a charming but older house, so it's wearing a bit thin in places. It's still beautiful and cozy, just don't expect perfection.
About 20 Minutes to Medford Airport
