Treetop cottage was perfect for our family of 5. Great location for exploring Acadia National Park.
House was well stocked with supplies, cooking utensils and beds were very comfortable. Our family of five had room to spread out and enjoy the accommodations. Loved the two levels of decks! Having a laundry facilities right at the house was a definite plus! Location is ideal as it is a half mile walk down to Bar Harbor if you like some city life. Entrance to Acadia Park was about one mile away to hit the 27 mile park loop road. Can drive to the North East and South West Harbors in about 25 min. If we were to return to the area, we would definitely stay here again!🤗
We enjoyed the cabin in the woods. Road construction took a little away, because of the noisei
It is close to everything in Bar Harbor
Clean Economical Accomodation
It is what it is...an adequate, clean, economical accommodation. It is within walking distance to downtown. The property may not be for everyone as it lacks Bar Harbor charm, it is dark and more cabin like, not good for elderly or others with minimal mobility. However, if the owner beautified the property it could rent for lots more so I say keep it just the way it is for those like us who want a clean economical and convenient location to stay at! We would stay there again.
Not my best experience with Home Away
Have spoken to the owner about these issues and he said he was unaware of them and would speak with his cleaning service:
Thick mold/mildew odor in the downstairs area. Caused allergies and sneezing.
Stains on the rug in the downstairs area.
Black mold/mildew throughout the shower/tub in the master bath; public hairs on the soap left in the shower. I found some Clorox in the laundry room and was able to get the mold/mildew stains to disappear so we could use that shower.
I completely disagree with this review. This couple seemed problematic from before they even arrived..They had called at least 3 times before they even got there with unusual requests. When they contacted me I sent a cleaning service there and they told me there was no mold or smell in the house. If there was it would have been addressed instantly. I have been renting out the cottage for 7years and never had a problem before or after .
Allan was really great with communication before the trip. It's a great value for Bar Harbor and really close to everything. It was a great location. However, we found things to be a bit lacking. There were no washcloths. No big deal. The bedrooms were in the downstairs of the house and had a very heavy musty, mildew smell. We tried airing it out, but it still caused one of my friends to have an asthma attack, and caused me to lose my voice when I woke up the next morning. We aired the house all day the next day, and it seemed a little better, still not great.
It was my impression that he doesn't personally monitor the property.
I would consider booking again if I knew the mildew situation was corrected.
I've not heard back from Allan since letting him know we checked out, and telling him about the mildew situation.
Just what we needed
Comfortable. We made breakfast each morning at the house and hiked all day.
Secluded treetop cottage, one mile from downtown shops. Restaurants, Cinemas, Bars, Whale watching. Golf, biking, hiking, kayaking,
