The owner is a retired Wisconsin Fire Chief and current professional ski instructor in Park City. Prior to purchasing a vacation home in the area this year, his condo served as his home away from home during the ski season. With demand for our unit high and very positive reviews, we now rent it throughout the year.

The unit earned a 'gold' rating when it was listed by a property management company, and has modern appliances with ice-maker, a 32' inch flat screen TV, and PREMIUM QUALITY LACROSSE QUEEN, EXTRA LONG SOFA BED WITH 7' MATTRESS! The California KING BED is high-quality.

A programmable electronic touch-pad door lock provides security and convenience, allowing you to go directly to your unit and enter using your unique code-no check-in required.

A large, newly-renovated shared hot tub adjacent to the pool on the first floor is the perfect place to soothe muscles and share ski stories after a spectacular day in Utah's legendary snow, or after exploring the wonderful summer environment. The large outdoor pool is heated to 88 degrees during the winter, and 80 during the summer.

Ski boots can be worn to the mountain, as the FREE TRANSIT BUS picks you up a half block away and drops you off very close to the lifts at Deer Valley and Vail's new Park City Mountain, now combined with Canyons Resort to create America's largest ski area at 7300 acres. From there, you can ride the new Quicksilver Gondola to the Canyons area. If you prefer to go directly to the people-moving gondola at Canyons base, it is about a 15-minute bus ride.

A boot dryer is supplied in the unit, as are a humidifier, vacuum cleaner, iron, and ironing board.

The condo is ideal for a summer or fall stay, as it has a modern, full-service air conditioning system, and is in an ideal location for access to trail riding, tennis courts, and all that Park City offers.

The bus system is outstanding, with three different lines serving nearby stops, including an express route to downtown. Once you get to Carriage House from the airport via a shuttle van, a rental car is an unnecessary expense. We are able to book the shuttle for you using our bulk ticket purchase account. At $33.30 per person each way, this is the best deal we know of.

About Chuck Herzog

My wife Chris, grown children, and I have skied together and enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities for many years. Having served as a municipal Fire Chief for 11 years of a 25-year career, I retired in 2005. I've been a certified professional ski instructor since 2001, and achieved a retirement dream in 2008 when I was hired to work a part-time, flexible holidays schedule in Park City. We searched for a nice, affordable condo and found exactly what we wanted in our Carriage House unit. We have made improvements to make it very comfortable for our family and friends, and enjoy making it available to visitors. We take pride in providing outstanding service to our guests. Chuck

Why Chuck Herzog chose Park City area

We chose Carriage House Unit 422 after looking at about 10 properties during my first season working as a ski instructor in Park City. We were impressed with the great location, affordability, and overall quality of the property. Virtually everything needed to enjoy a vacation in beautiful Park City is within walking distance: restaurants, grocery stores, liquor store, bagel shop, sports shops, and much more.

What makes this condo unique

The unit is on the top (fourth) floor at the end of the hall, and the environment is thus nice and quiet. The laundry room is just two doors down. The free bus service, which has a stop a half-block away, eliminates any need for a car. The hot tub is large, and the outdoor pool is heated to 88 degrees throughout the winter. The free on-site WI-FI service is reliable and fast, and allows us to stay in contact via email and the internet. Great, affordable, family-friendly restaurants are nearby. The fully-equipped, modern kitchen allows us to easily prepare meals. A phone allows free local calls. A boot dryer is a wonderful convenience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Chuck, we want you to know we enjoyed our stay in unit 422 at Carriage House in Park City. We want you to know you are far above other owners we have dealt with through VRBO. Thanks for the wine, the welcome basket and the information about the surrounding area. We enjoyed eating at Fuego’s and Sammy’s Bistro.

Great overall experience

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I really enjoyed the condo. It was well stocked with everything we needed, the location was convenient to both Deer Valley and Park City and we loved the Rocky Mountain chocolates that were waiting upon our arrival! Little extras like the boot warmers and humidifier made a difference. It was comfortable and nicely decorated.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review. Our guests love the fact that they are able to choose a welcome gift of a sampler from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory or a bottle of wine from our list. Our Prospector Square neighborhood is known as the most convenient place is Park City to stay; grocery stores, the State liquor store, and a variety of restaurants and shops are all nearby. The outstanding free Park City transit system has bus stops right alongside our building and just a quarter block down Prospector Avenue, making travel to the resorts, Main Street, or any other area of Park City easily accessible. Great cozy condo

  • 4 of 5

Great place for 4 of us to hang out for a night! We used the hot tub and cooked dinner with the fire going before walking to a nearby bus stop to get to main street for the night. Comfortable beds and a balcony.

Chuck was very responsive to messages and was able to get us a missing parking pass very quickly after we arrived.

There seemed to be mistakes by the housekeeping staff - no shampoo or conditioner and a missing parking pass.

I would definitely stay here again for a weekend getaway to park city.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your thorough review. We are happy you enjoyed the fireplace and kitchen facilities. The free Park City Transit System is a great asset in the community, and makes a rental car largely unnecessary. We believe the second parking pass we placed in response to your request was removed by the housekeeping service because the norm is to only have one in the unit. We discussed with them the failure to place shampoo and conditioner; thanks for advising you had brought your own. Otherwise, we would have had it delivered immediately. We look forward to serving you again in the future.

Great location and great service

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at the condo for our recent ski trip. It had everything we needed and the owner was extremely helpful. The location was great with just a short drive to the slopes and restaurants a short walk away.

Owner's Response: We are happy to have been of service to you. A common theme in our reviews is the convenience of our Prospector Square neighborhood for vacationers. With a major makeover of Prospector Avenue coming this year, we will see improved sidewalks, emphasis on convenience for walkers and bikers, updated street lighting, and parking lot upgrades in the neighborhood. We are excited about these changes, which will further enhance the experience of our guests. Chuck and Chris

Perfect spot for the 3 of us

  • 4 of 5

My wife, 7-year old son and I spent 4 nights in January 2017. The place was clean, well-stocked kitchen, with a very comfortable King bed and a pullout couch. Convenient location with a short walk to the bus, pizza, and ski rentals. The fireplace, pool, and hot tub were big hits with my son. Only reason I didn't rate it 5-stars was because the fridge was squealing on and off for one evening. The owner was very responsive to our request to resolve the issue and it was fixed the next day.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your thoughtful review. We are happy your son enjoyed the amenities at our complex, including the winter pool heated to 88 degrees which is adjacent to the large hot tub. I appreciate your immediate call regarding the noise coming from the refrigerator-our appliance service provided their usual prompt response and replaced the offending parts. Chuck and Chris

Perfect condo for an extended ski weekend!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was exactly as described and perfect for a girls ski weekend at Park City! Chuck had thought of everything to make our stay great. Really enjoyed warming up by the fire place after cold days on the slope. The boot dryer was a huge help in drying out our boots and gloves after being out in some very wet snow. The indoor hot tub at the carriage house was large and perfect for relaxing in. Chuck is a great host and was responsive to all our inquiries both before and during our stay. The location is very convenient to catching the bus to downtown as well as the park city mountain base. We did not have a rental car and still found it easy to get around by taking ubers & the free city bus. It costs between $60-$75 each way to take an uberski from SLC airport to the condo. It is much less convenient to reach the Canyons base by bus, but it was relatively cheap to take an uberski there. I would definitely return for a future trip, especially for another powder weekend!

Chuck cares!!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many places throughout our travels, and I must say that Chuck is the best host yet. He really cares about your comfort! He responded to our questions and concerns immediately. The condo was very comfortable and well furnished with the necessities. It's located close to everything: the ski resorts, the village, the Olympic Training Park, etc. We had a fantastic time there! Thank you Chuck! We hope to go back in the summer and enjoy Park City when it's warm.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your positive comments. Since we both work in the ski industry throughout the winter, we truly enjoy helping our guests plan their Park City vacation. Many of our guests have commented about the convenience of our location in the Prospector Square neighborhood. We look forward to serving you again, perhaps during the very popular summer season in the mountains. Chuck and Chris
