Situated just above the most beautiful part of the beach in Sayulita and cleanest water in the bay! Just north of the rivermouth...

Casa Vela is an exquisite luxury villa located on the north end of Sayulita overlooking the ocean, jungle and village. This unique house is a fusion of traditional Mexico and open-air beach living. The warm yellow walls and Saltillo tile floors invite you to sink in and relax with the ocean breeze and sounds of the crashing waves.

When you walk through the front door you are greeted by an expansive view of Sayulita’s bay and the beach that is only a short walk down the cobblestone street. The open Palapa living room is the perfect place to relax with family and friends, lounge by the infinity pool with a cold Cerveza, watch the game on the plasma screen tv, nap on the shaded outdoor sun bed, or shoot some pool on the championship pool table! You can check out the surf, watch the whales spout and the dolphins play from just about every room in the house as well.

The fully stocked kitchen with 15 ft. Bar has everything you will need to create wonderful meals from the fresh local ingredients. Hand crafted copper sinks, Talavera tile and an antique oven add to the rustic charm of this beautiful kitchen. In the adjacent Palapa dining area you will find a pounded copper table and built in gas barbeque where you can grill up and serve the “catch of the day” from the fisherman of the village. At your request, a personal cook can be arranged to prepare Mexican delicacies for you.

From each bedroom you will awake from a restful night’s sleep to see the ocean stretching out in front of you. Comfortable mattresses and pillows, high quality linens and towels add to the luxury of this tropical retreat. For your security and peace of mind we have installed security safes in each bedroom.

The entire house is adorned with hand-selected art, decorations and furnishings from throughout Mexico. Together, these elements create a fun and eclectic style that is the perfect complement to the amazing views from every room in the house. The thoughtfully laid out floor plan and incomparable ambiance is perfect for entertaining!

The separate upstairs Casita greets you with colorful rustic floor tiles and Mexican folk art. Patio doors open up so that you can enjoy the ocean breeze. Comfortable furniture and a compact but fully equipped kitchen area and a shaded garden patio make this Casita a perfect private hideaway.

We are certain that Casa vela is everything you are looking for in a vacation house with the perfect mix of casual luxury.

Please note that if you only rent a portion of the property, be assured that you will not be sharing the property with other travelers.

About cassie gann

My husband and I built Casa Vela and live in Sayulita full time. I am now working as a kindergarten teacher and Mike is designing and building beautiful custom homes. We love the community and culture of Sayulita and look forward to sharing our home with you.

cassie gann purchased this house in 2008

Why cassie gann chose Sayulita

The north end of Sayulita is beautiful and quiet, within walking distance to downtown and very close to the beach. The view from Casa Vela is quite possibly the best in town!

What makes this house unique

We love the location of Casa is close to the beach and town with the most amazing view. Casa Vela is just far enough away from the town center that you won't have to worry about being kept up by the loud music at night and early morning roosters! We also love the two pool areas and the large kitchen which is perfect for entertaining! Our favorite thing to do is have a margarita and watch the sunset!!

Spring Break 2016

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Casa Vela for 7 days during spring break 2016. The house and the view are amazing.

We had 6 teenage boys with us, and there was plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves.

Our good friends stayed at Casa Hermosa ( a 2 bedroom), right across the drive, and that was great too!

Casa Vela, is a special place, I highly recommend it to anyone going to Sayulita.

I would not recommend having anyone cook for you, there are so many great restaurants in town, you will want to try them all!!

Bucket List Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Vela was pure tranquility! The view, the accomdations, the staff, were all beyond amazing! The owners were terrific to work with. Watching the moon drop over the ocean horizon was breathtaking. This village was so welcoming..and the food! We NEVER once ate a bad meal. We wish we could have brought Queso home with us, he was a delightful housemate! We will be back again, for certain! My only recommendation, get a four wheel drive or high clearance vehicle. The streets of Sayulita are unforgiving. Other than that, this home and this village will reset your life!!

The perfect house in the perfect place

  • 5 of 5

Casa Vela is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I have ever been. It's as though the angle of the sunset across the bay of Sayulita has been adjusted to pour directly across the infinity pool into the expansive palapa-roofed living room. My friends and family were joking that, after staying at Vela, we realized that the perfect place to put a swimming pool is right next to kitchen -- you don't have to decide to go out to the pool, because the pool is right there in the living area! The layout of this main floor meant that we could all be together--some people soaking up the sun, some people sitting in the shade, some people making a snack or drink in the kitchen and others sitting at the beautiful kitchen table under yet another palapa roof--and everyone of us enjoying one of the stunning view. Our group loves music and there's a wonderful stereo system that you can plug your iPad or iPhone right into to further enhance the moment. The entire property was immaculate, with a friendly staff coming daily to clean and replenish. Each of the suites was unique, and the handcrafted artwork in juxtaposition with the architecture of the house itself made for a visually delightful experience as well as a comfortable one. Since it was the rainy season, we rented a four-wheel-drive Jeep to get to Sayulita from PV, but if I had to do it over again I think I would arrange for round-trip transportation from PVR to Vela and rent a golf cart once in town. Carts do surprisingly well on the muddy streets and on the hills, and you can charge the electric golf cart right there at the house and they are more nimble in the tight alleys and easier to park.

We arranged to have simple groceries for breakfast and snacks, some beer and margarita ingredients and bottled water (for the fridge) already stocked for us when we arrived and this worked out so well! And, Gabriel, who got the groceries, had made thoughtfully made Margaritas and guacamole that were waiting for us on arrrival.

It being September, it was quite hot and humid, so we really appreciated the air conditioning in the individual bedrooms, which are on completely different levels of the house from one another, so, even though you are sharing one house, they afford a lot of privacy.

We had my 50th birthday party at the house on Saturday night, and Vela arranged the delicious dinner for 22 people. It's a great place for a private gathering.

It was hard to leave and we can't wait to return!

Fairly Nice

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in January of 2014. The common areas of the house were very nice (kitchen, dining and living areas). The swimming pools and the gardens were also very nice. The bedroom we stayed in had a bit of a mildew smell. The Wi-Fi was terrible. It only works in the kitchen/living area and it doesn't work most of the time. We had to reset the router every hour and the Wi-Fi still did not work very often. The location is also on a very steep hill which makes the views lovely, but it is difficult to get to the house (even if you rent a golf cart or car because the driveway is so steep).

Wonderful Owner & Amazing Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 4 nights, 5 days at this wonderful home. The owner helped me above and beyond. Always very friendly and gave us lots of suggestions to make our visit the best experience. We were very comfortable. The owner suggestions made our trip go very smoothly- advice on some to give massages, transportation to and from the airport, and Pacific GolfCarts for local transportation around the town were perfect. The home is furnished really nice and the view is breathtaking. We all hope to return soon.
