Wanda Butterfield purchased this apartment in 2012
My family has owned this property for at least two centries and the history is phenominal and quite interesting. And I like to tell it.
The view is unique and quite awesome.
Location, Location, Location! If you are traveling to Bermuda to experience the beaches, this is an excellent location. My husband and I rented a scooter and visited all of the beaches and Southampton wins the "gorgeous beach" award! We had one day of serious rain during our 10 day stay, but continued to enjoy the amazing ocean view from our bedroom. Wanda and her family are amazing and truly care that you enjoy your stay and were always available to give us tips on making the most of our vacation. My priorities in booking were location to beach and comfort. We were steps away from a private beach that is one of the prettiest on the island. Wanda provided us with an umbrella and beach chairs during our visit. As we explored the island, we often couldn't wait to get back "home" to our private paradise! There is a bus stop steps from the unit and we used the bus system to visit the Dockyard and ferry over to St. George and Hamilton (a public ferry leaves the Dockyard to both of these locations and your bus pass gives you access). We were very close to a market and a couple of mornings we enjoyed grabbing muffins and coffee from the bakery to have a morning picnic overlooking the ocean (there are many great locations with picnic tables). We also got takeout from Wok Express (near market) several times to enjoy the sunset. Of course, there are also great restaurants nearby to enjoy as well. This unit was just as described and equipped with reliable air conditioning, comfy bed, large screen TV, and GREAT WIFI. Before leaving the US, we spent the night before our flight in a hotel. We had much faster and more reliable WIFI service in Bermuda. I would recommend getting a scooter, but use good judgement. We used the bus at night and for longer excursions. But, the scooter allowed us to beach hop and pick up food conveniently. I would also advise taking nice cover ups for swim suits. All of the establishments want customers to look nice and most post "no swim suit" signs. The island has a very polished culture and we were very conscience of this in riding the scooter as well. Great trip, great island, great people, and a great location!
We stayed in this room for 6 days/5nights. Overall our experience is perfect. The room is very cozy, the bed is comfortable and the pillows too. It has a view of the ocean from the balcony and from the windows. The bus stops are just a quick 5 minute downhill walk. There is a private beach across the road which is a 5 minute downhill walk too. The famous horseshoe bay and other beaches like warwick is also very nearby, -3 bus stops away. If you are not in a hurry and has lots of energy to walk you will be able to walk from the house. From the outside it looks like a long walk uphill from the road, but when you get inside the house, the view is very beautiful, and the room is very cozy and modern. Wanda is very helpful and very detailed in showing how to get around the area. There ia also a convenient store walking distance, and the bigger grocery is located about 5 bus stops away. We would definitely come back exactly on this house.
The apartment is cozy and comfortable and has everything you need. The bed was great, the sheets felt great. Towels were perfect, refrigerator is the right size. The restaurants nearby within walking distance are all worth it. The private beach truly is private and so gorgeous. Wanda is an excellent host. She won't hound you at all but is eager to please; all you have to do is call. Her mother is the sweetest and also very helpful. You may question the a/c at first but don't. It's quiet but powerful! You can't beat the price... Not sure how else to tell you so just book it. When we go back next year we will be staying here again - no more hotels for us.
Me and my partner recently stayed here at this beautiful Appartment, we were very impressed with the size and comfort of the Appartment it was perfect for the two of us. Our favourite part was being able to lay in the amazingly comfy bed (perfect pillows and extremely comfy mattress - beautiful smelling washing powered may I add) so where was I ... Ah yes, being able to lay in bed and to have a wonderful view of the Bermudian sea!.
Extra towels which I loved because most places only give one body towel, we had 3 each for one week- I loved that. All kitchen materials were there which was great we were able to cook our brought items from the shop. So over all extremely happy and perfect night sleep!!.
Another great aspect to this amazing apartment was the beach access, this beach was besuitful and to be honest we thought it was the second best beach in Bermuda (The Reefs being the first). We loved the fact it was a five minute walk from the Appartment and there was no one around accept for us.
Wanda, was great to us went above and beyond, no question was silly, or request too small, we even missed the bus one night and Wanda kindly drove us down. Which we were extremely grateful as we were meeting friends.
I would advise to higher a moped, at the start of the week we done everything by bus, this was good because we could get our bearings but was pretty hard doing a shop. The moped just gave that bit of freedom we paid $105 for a day was totally worth it.
Hopefully we will return to Bermuda next summer and if we do we'd be sure to spend it here!.

We had a wonderful stay at this upstairs studio in Southampton Parish. The view is gorgeous out to the south over the sea. The location is convenient. There is a bus stop just down the hill; Bermuda's bus system takes you wherever on the island you wish to go. If you walk, the best beaches on the island (and most famous) are within walking distance (albeit along a busy road), as is a complete grocery store over the hill at Heron Bay. The famous Gibbs Lighthouse, which has a great restaurant, is about a half-mile away around the corner and up the hill a bit. You also have access to a small private beach, CrossBay Beach, below, down 128 stairs (or a road), where most often you will be the only people there. The swimming there is as lovely as anywhere on the island.
The studio is clean and cheery. There is good television reception and WiFi. The studio's kitchen is very simple and simply stocked, but if you need anything, the owner's mother, Mrs. Wilson, is next door. Mrs. Wilson and Wanda, the owner, are gracious, kind, welcoming, and accessible. We feel lucky to have met them.
We really enjoyed staying in Southampton at this private residence. The apartment had everything we needed to make it a great stay. The views and beaches are incredible, and it's a great location to use as a "home base" to visit the island's attractions. Wanda was extremely attentive and helpful to make our experience as best as possible. We would definitely return to stay at Wanda's place in a heartbeat!
