Hawaii House Rental Photos and Description

3BR 2BA Home sleeps maximum of 6, OCEANFRONT HOT TUB! VIEWS!!

The Alohahouse is a spectacular oceanfront property where you will experience breathtaking sunrises, cascading rainbows, dolphin & whale watching all from the comfort of your Hawaiian hale. The property is located just 30 minutes south of Hilo in a private community, Hawaiian Paradise Park, on one of the loveliest bays in East Hawaii where you can walk for miles and see nothing but pristine coastline and lush forest. This quiet and serene property has everything including a length of the house oceanfront covered and tiled lanai. Furnished island style with rattan and wicker, ceiling fans, color TV, CD stereo and washer/dryer. In November 2013, we have put in a BRAND NEW KItCHEN! We have just put in an oceanfront brand new 5-person spa for your pleasure!! We feel this is a wonderful addition to the home! This home is a great spot to set up base to discover the beauty of the East side of the Big Island. It is just a short dirve to Volcano National Park, Lava Tree State Park, Hilo, Kapoho Tide Pools, botanical gardens, zoo & more. Perfect for a couple or family. I have many repeat guests who love being so close to the ocean! Paradise calls!

The Alohahouse: The oceanfront Alohahouse property sits spectacularly oceanfront on the pristine Puna Coast in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision just south of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home offers the vacationer an up close and personal ocean experience! You can't get much closer to the ocean without being in it! It lulls you to sleep at night and the sunrises are so incredibly awesome - you will want to get up early even if you are on vacation! In the winter months, you can hear and see the whales that come in quite close because the ocean is deep in front of the property. This is a great spot to catch fish from the bluff and cook right on the barbecue!

Decorated island style with rattan furnishings and overhead ceiling fans in all the rooms, the home stays very comfortable all year! Sometimes you might even need a sweathshirt in the winter months! This home is centrally located and it is just a short drive to Volcano National Park, the Kapoho tide pools, and Hilo International Airport. The location is superb for the traveler wanting to set up base for the ultimate Big Island adventure. The oceanfront lanai is the place you will probably want to hang out after your day trips!

The BRAND NEW kitchen is fully equipped with all your dining needs, all linens are provided, along with soap, and laundry detergent (you won't have time for that though!) There is also an outdoor hot shower to rinse off after surfing, swimming, snorkeling, or hiking the volcano. We provide a cooler for your day outings too!

The cottage on the property is currently long term rented.

Activities:: From the oceanfront lanai you can sun bathe, dine and watch the sea turtles, dolphins and whales frolic. Explore the coastline tide pools or fish off the bluff. A short distance from blacksand beaches, hot ponds, waterfalls, golf, kayaking, Volcano National Park, shops and restaurants. Swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, snorkeling, or relax at nearby Isaac Hale Park, Pohoiki Bay, MacKenzie State Park, Puala'a Warm Springs, fabulous Kapoho Point, Kalani Honua Culture Center. Shopping, banking, medical facilities, restaurants, etc. in nearby quaint Pahoa Town. Have the best of both worlds: peace and serenity combined with as much activity as you feel like! Olympic size swimming pool in Pahoa (free!), fine restaurants in Hilo, Pahoa, & Keaau! Be sure to catch the Makuu farmers market on weekends, or the Hilo farmer's market! And we find 'Uncle Robert's' In Kalapan a fantastic way to have dinner on Wednesday evenings. It is located at the end of the 'Red Road,' Highway 137 in Kalapana. We find it's better than a luau with wonderful Hawaiian musicians, arts, crafts, many local food vendors. This is a must on your list of things to do in East Hawaii!

If this home is not available for your dates, please check out my other vacation rental on this website, listing number 304974. The Pualani Home in Kapoho is a wonderful place to stay as well and sleeps a maximum of 4 guests!

About Pat Starkie

We love the Big Island of Hawaii and try to visit as often as we can. We live in beautiful Morro Bay, California, where we do property management. Our hobbies and interests include swimming, bicycling, traveling, concerts, water skiing and enjoying our son and our daughter who live nearby.

Pat Starkie purchased this house in 2004

Why Pat Starkie chose Hawaii

We fell in love with this home because of its proximity to the ocean and the feeling of being on the 'edge of the world.' The air is so pure here and the night sky is star-filled. This is a very special place!

What makes this house unique

This is the place with the very HIGH RELAX factors. With the oceanfront length of the house lanai, you can watch the waves with the dolphins, turtles, whales in the winter months, for hours! You can catch fish off the bluff and cook it right there on your built-in oceanfront barbecue. Just a short drive to town for groceries, and a great place to come back to after day adventures to Volcano National Park, botanical gardens, farmer's markets, snorkeling in Kapoho, and so much more!! Paradise Found!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a place to get away from the hustle & bustle of frantic life on the mainland. The pounding of the surf, croaking of the frogs, cooing of the doves offer soothing comfort and relaxation. Turn off your cell phones and laptops and ENJOY! Don't miss the ice cream at Mauna Loa Mac Farm.

Since we have stayed in both Pat & Andy's homes, we can't pick a favorite - the causal calm of Pualani in Kapoho and wonderful pounding of the surf at the Dolphin Bay are both great! Hawaii is now a preferred destination.

Perfect House on The Big Island

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location. Perfect house. We are a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids aged 14,12,11 & 8). We wanted to stay in a house & feel like a local Hawaiian! This house was amazing. Plenty of room. The most amazing view! Spectacular sunrises. Watching sea turtles in the ocean. A short drive from the amazing Volcano National Park, Hilo & Pahoa. I cannot recommend this house highly enough! Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! The owners are so extremely helpful - giving all sorts of tips from favourite restaurants to locations to visit! We will be back!!

Owner's Response: So happy to hear that a family of 6 felt comfortable in the home....sometimes I worry about that since there is one king in the master, one queen in another bedroom, a full bed in another, and a twin in the living room. I think it is great for a family - but probably not as ideal for 3 couples (full size bed is kind of small for a couple). But we LOVE happy guests and do our very best to communicate with travelers what we love about the Big Island. This is a great location if you want privacy, yet still be a short drive from the wonders of nature that abound on the Big Island of Hawaii.

If you want oceanfront, lava, and privacy right off your lanai Aloha House is for you.

Experience Hawai'i off the beaten path, while still close enough to see all the sights the Big Island has to offer, this house has it all, and it's a great value to boot.

Owner's Response: Oceanfront with lots of privacy is what this home provides! Whether staying just a few nights of a few weeks, this home is well-equipped and a great place to come back to after your day adventures, or a wonderful place just to hang out! That's what we do!

Owner's Response: We love our happy guests and try to keep the home stocked with everything you might need (well, you must buy your own food). The view is amazing from the home and no place better to start and end the day but in that oceanfront hot tub.

Amazing house with a convenient location!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing property and made our time on the big island easy and comfortable. The location is very convenient to the big island's best attractions, including Volcano National Park, Kapoho tide pools, and the Hamakua coast. The home is a little off the beaten path (but not too much!), letting you relax and enjoy some privacy with a unique, breathtaking view of the Pacific. Owners provided some great tips for enjoying and exploring the island, particularly nearby Pahoa and Hilo. Would recommend this property to anyone!

Owner's Response: We, too, love the feeling of being private and remote, yet it is only a short drive to all of the best things to do on the Big Island. After a trip to Volcano, or the Kapoho tide pools, there is nothing better than coming back to your Hawaiian hale on the edge of the ocean and soak in the hot tub and stare at the gorgeous views!!

Beautiful sunrises, private location & peaceful!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this propery and our five night stay. We wished we could have rented for a longer time. The pictures are very accurate for the entire property.

Sitting in the hut tub listening to and watching the waves crash was incredible. One morning we watched two whales breech and head east in tandem.

The location is great for visiting the "Hilo side" sights, but we really didn't care to leave the peaceful setting. If you do make it to a local Farmers Market, the rambutan is incredible.

The owner graciously answered many questions in advance of our stay-usually within minutes.

We had only one rainy day, so we used that day to sightsee.

The description listed a barbecue. This is a charcoal barbecue, not a gas grill, so bring charcoal if you wish to grill. There was lighter fluid, but it may have been left by a previous renter.

We are happily recommending this place to our friends and family and will stay here again in the future.

Owner's Response: The peacefulness of the property and the proximity of the home to the ocean makes it so you don't want to leave! We can spend hours on the oceanfront lanai in and out of the hot tub watching the ocean - sometimes spotting whales and dolphins! We never tire of the everchanging ocean views!

A perfect paradise home

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many rental homes in our travels, and found this charming house to be a perfect setting for a relaxing vacation with our family. The home is clean and comfortable, and the surge of the surf outside makes for a perfect sleeping environment. We love the lava flow in the backyard forming the descent to the sea, and sighted whales spouting one evening at dusk. Every morning we enjoyed coming out the edge of the lava with our coffee (and tea) and watched the sea turtles surfing about on the waves (our favorite), which made for a truly magical setting. We love this place and will absolutely return. And the drive to Volcano House (our favorite restaurant) is also very reasonable.

We also highly recommend the owners, they are extremely accommodating and are always willing to help out in any way they can. We provide a five-star rating only because the site does not allow anything higher! This place will not disappoint, it is highly recommended.
