Outdated, Not well maintained, very disapointed.
We arrived at our cabin to find a pretty rough road to get to the property. The cabin was cute from the outside but with further inspection there is noticeable rot around the house. Once we were inside it was even worse. The first thing we noticed was a not so pleasant smell but we chocked it up to being an older cabin. Upon inspection we noticed that there is very poor lighting throughout the house. The walls in the bathrooms were in very poor shape and were showing water damage around the showers. The beds were very hard almost what i would consider a prison mattress. This house has basboard heat and all of the control knobs were missing with the exception of one making it difficult to use. Im glad there was a fireplace because in order to keep warm there had to be a fire because the heat did not work well. The carpet in the cabin is very old and very dirty also. The appliaces were very old and the refridgerator looked as if it was falling backwards into the wall and had surface rust on it. When we arrived the dishwasher was running and we assumed the cleaning lady had ran it to make sure it was clean and we noticed there was a small puddle of water at the front of the dishwasher so we put a towel down to clean it up and left for dinner. We arrived back and noticed the dishwasher was still running after 6hrs so we cut it off and noticed it was full of dishes. We then stepped on the carpet and it was soaking wet in an area about 8' x 4'. We gathered as many towels as possible and soaked the water up to keep it from spreading. We notified the property manager and she asked if she needed to send the maintenance man with a shop vac to suck up the water. I advised her the water wasnt standing and we soaked up as much as we could with towels. We were disgusted by the color of the water that was soaked up because it looked like chocolate milk becase the carpet was that dirty. The rest of the time we walked around with our shoes on because we didnt want to touch the floor. The next morning the maintenance man came and advised that the dishwasher had been turned on the day prior to our arrival so it had been running for close to 30 hrs before we found the issue and cut it off. We ended up leaving the night before our checkout time because of our disapointment and disgust.
The nice stainless steel dishwasher is about 2 years old, but malfunctions will sometimes happen. Although this guest left a very negative review, this house is a very popular vacation rental, and we have many guests who return again and again to lodge here. It was built and owned by a medical doctor and his wife, and was their family retreat in the mountains. It is a favorite of many of our guests.
