This 'Tropical Island Paradise' is a great private and spacious (over 2,000 sq. ft. living space) single-family ground level vacation rental -- 'perfect for two couples or two small families to share'. This property is located in the Island Village of Key Colony Beach near Sunset Park on the Ocean. Within walking distance to fine dining, post office, 9-hole golf course, tennis and world class charter boat fleet. One block from the beautiful Sunset Park on the ocean. Cabana Club Membership (Beach/Pool), May use Boat Dock & trailer parking - no additional charge.
Sleeping arrangements are 2 KING beds + sofa bed. This home has 2 separate King Bedroom Suites - one at either end of home. This home is SMOKE-FREE and CLEAN ! Sleeps 4 or 5 adults comfortably - up to 6 including children.
The LARGE (air conditioned) LANAI - family room/dining room overlooks sun deck and the water (canal). The deck is a comfortable spot to enjoy breakfast or morning coffee while watching the sunrise & wildlife. In the afternoon, enjoy a pina colada! Deck is shady and breezy on hot afternoons. Rental is located on the water - a 5 min. boat ride thru our 100' canal that leads to the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Dock for up to 38' boat at no additional charge -- with fish cleaning table and barbecue grill, along with a sun deck and comfortable chairs. Comcast High-speed wireless internet included.
This vacation rental is a one hour drive to Key West or Key Largo and two hours from Miami. All rentals include a membership to the Cabana Club, a private ocean/beach club with pool, hot tub, and beach. WE LOVE THE LAID-BACK ATMOSPHERE, THE OUTDOOR RESTAURANTS ON THE TURQUOISE WATER, FISHING, SNORKELING/DIVING, THE HISTORY, THE PARKS, THE FLOWERS, VISITING KEY WEST AND THE OTHER KEYS. WE LOVE THE FACT THAT IF WE CHOOSE TO, WE CAN DRIVE TO THE KEYS AND GET AWAY TO THE 'ISLANDS' OR WE CAN FLY INTO MIAMI, RENT A CAR AND DRIVE 100 MILES TO PARADISE. WE LOVE THE MIDDLE KEYS AS OPPOSED TO KEY WEST WHICH IS BUSIER AND MORE CONGESTED - THO A CONVENIENT & FUN PLACE TO 'VISIT'. THE FISHING IS THE 'BEST' JUST OFF SHORE AS IS THE SNORKELING/DIVING. WE CHOSE THE KEYS FOR THE WEATHER. KEY COLONY IS UNIQUE IN THAT IT IS A 'CITY' WITH GOVERNING BODY AND A POLICE FORCE, SEPARATE FROM MARATHON AND REST OF KEYS. KEY COLONY BEACH IS AN ISLAND JUST OFF U.S.1 ON THE OCEAN SIDE. A single family home, not a duplex-love it!
We have stayed in this home three times and love it! It's much nicer to stay in a single-family home versus a duplex! You really have your privacy.
The sunroom offers extra space and your group will have plenty of room.
Fishing off the dock is always fun. It's a close walk to Sunset Beach. We feel at home and we have everything we need. The Cabana Club is wonderful!
Carole is very accommodating and answers questions right away. We hope to come back every year!
This review - from a wonderful Michigan family of 6 - who we were fortunate to meet on one of our trips to the Keys - they have spent their Christmas Vacations at our home for 4 years. They are the "perfect" guests who take good care of your property as they own rental property on Lake Michigan and manage it themselves as I do.
Very clean, no mold especially since the hurricane. Wonderful sun room. Well furnished kitchen.
Rooms are very large and spacious. Our only issue was gas grill tank needed repair or replacement. Made owner aware. Next door neighbor had dogs that really liked to bark. That was a little annoying. We would rent this property again.

Great location and very clean.
This house is older but very nice and has plenty of room. The back porch is shaded in the afternoon which makes it really nice and the dock had plenty of room for my 30 foot boat. The location is perfect with easy access to the ocean and the gulf by boat. Thank you so much Carol for letting us stay in your home, we will be back.

Great week at Carol's Cottage
As with any rental property there are issues. The best part about dealing with Carol was that she responded lightening fast and followed up as well to make sure we were taken care of. The home is very spacious with huge bedrooms and an open floor plan for the living space. We had coffee on the deck overlooking the canal each morning...very quiet and relaxing. The bonus for us was the Cabana Club membership featuring a large pool and private beach! This property is worthy of your visit! Joe & Shirley, Lexington, KY
Feels Just Like Home
We visited Key Colony Beach for the first time and rented Carole's Cottage. We were extremely happy with the accommodations. Carole is an excellent communicator and responds to inquiries almost instantly whenever possible and provides a very helpful info packet to help you get familiar with the area.
The house was very clean and fully stocked with towels and kitchen needs. We cooked in 3 nights and found everything we needed. The BR locations offer good privacy. The home has easy access to Rt. 1 with many stores if you need to go grocery shopping, as well as many good restaurants. There are also a few good restaurants in Key Colony Beach if you prefer to stay on the island. We went to Key Colony Inn one night, which was very good, & also went to Leigh Ann's Coffee House for breakfast. It was excellent, but a little pricey to go every day, but offers one of the best breakfasts & coffee you'll ever have.
Our favorite part about the house was sitting out on the back deck for morning coffee or after-dinner relaxing. It is very beautiful & peaceful & although we were initially a little anxious about the Iguanas, we quickly realized that they had no interest in us & that they just like to lay on the dock wall and sun themselves & would walk away when we went down there. We actually had fun watching them and looked for them every morning. They are harmless if you leave them alone.
We completely enjoyed the Cabana Club and went there most days when we weren't out doing other things, like our day trip to Key West. The staff and guests at the club were incredibly friendly and we truly felt welcome. Their food is very good - we ate lunch there several times and it was excellent and reasonably priced. Same for the frozen drinks! :)
We loved Key Colony Beach. It is a small community with very friendly residents. We went to Sunset Park twice. It is a short walk from the house and it was beautiful. Locals and visitors gather there and they have a cute little ceremony where they pass out words to the local Marathon song and everyone sings along (if you want - no pressure). Visiting KCB was somewhat like going back in time to simpler days and friendly, trusting people. We have truly never felt so safe and at home anywhere on vacation and have already re-booked the house for next year. Thank you, Carole, for making this such an easy process and for sharing your little piece of paradise :) We can't wait to come back!

So glad others enjoy our home as much as we do. I am sure Robin is a very "upbeat" person who is able to relax and enjoy herself no matter where she is. I feel fortunate that I have attracted very nice (renters) "guests". After renting our home(s) on Key Colony for 19 years, my only regret is that I don't get to meet more of them.
Key Colony Beach is unique in that it is a small "city" (island) on the water with its own Police Department, several restaurants & charter boat fleet. It is like stepping back to a simpler life & time. Beauty abounds from wild life to sunsets, not to mention turquoise water & plenty of sunshine.
