About Art Collins

My name is Art, I live full time in Manhattan and Fire Island. I have been in NY for 24 years, originally from San Diego, CA. I work hard to make this apartment nice. I am a finish carpenter and work on all my properties. I have other island properties to let if interested in the USA.

Art Collins purchased this apartment in 1990

Why Art Collins chose 4th Arrondissement Pompidou Le Marais

Walking around on the island during the sunset, is the most beautiful and peaceful place to end the day. There are a number of romanic sunset viewing spots to watch the sun go down over the Seine and the Cathedral, Notre Dame.

What makes this apartment unique

The unique situation about this apartment is that it is located on a very quiet courtyard 1st floor. Once you exit the building your on the tree lined Seine. The butcher, bakery, cheese shop, wine shop, ATM, & convenience store, all on the island. One does not need to leave the island for daily supplies. The metro at Pont Marie, #7 line pink, just across the bridge, along with the large grocery store at St. Paul, is very close.

Ile St Louis is the best location in Paris, near all city activities and sight seeing while retaining a quaint and quiet feel. Great restaurants nearby, kitchen well equipped if you want to eat in....a week went by quickly and we wish we were still there.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

Amazing to stay at this wonderful location, so close to so many metro stops to get to any location in Paris or beyond. Location opposite the Seine is an added bonus. Great food on the island and nearby. Loved it!

Excellent location! Every amenity covered.

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this cozy space on Ile St. Louis and it was just perfect for what we needed. Need umbrellas? Got 'em! Need a pen or a guidebook? It's covered. Forget your outlet adaptor? I think there were three available in this apartment.

The loft bedroom has a low ceiling, which I knew, but I didn't realize that the bed is actually situated on the floor. It kind of reminded me of my college days! My husband loved the sleeping space and called it "his cave", being that it was windowless. I loved the blankets and pillows - all were very high quality and plenty enough to go around.

The location was charming and convenient. We often walked home in the evening, meandering past the dwindling crowd at Notre Dame, admiring the Seine. It's a magical scene. The island is not bustling like some other locations, but we the area seemed active well into the evening with couples strolling along with dogs. I was afraid that it would get too quiet, but there was subdued activity happening even on Sunday night. Just keep in mind that many of the creperies have limited hours, so get 'em when you can. I highly recommend the restaurant St. Regis located around the corner. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich, which looked fabulous. Their baguettes with butter and jam are heavenly. It's a quintessential Parisien cafe and is visited by a good number of locals - which is always a good sign.

We visited the market on the island several times - the wine was cheap and good enough to drink. The produce somehow tasted better than back home. Just the basics, which is all we needed. There's also a cheese shop (fromagerie) and a couple of bakeries (boulangerie) within a minute or two walking. I adored the restaurant L'ilot Vache, located down the street. Get a reservation because the space is on the small side. Friendly service.

Transportation was easy and close. We chose to bicycle and take the Metro, primarily. The Velib station is five minutes walk, on the Ile de Cite. Metros are also 5-10 minute walk to Left Bank and Right Bank. Buy a carnet of metro tickets at any of the Tobacco (green signs) locations. Get a code for Velib for 8 Euro and ride for 7 days. Bike stations are often full, so get the App to check availability in advance.

My only quibble is with check-in time. Our plane landed at 6AM and we were not permitted to get into the apartment until 3PM. We were exhausted from our flights and desperately wanted someplace to stash our belongings.

This was a perfect place to stay! The location is so central that we were able to walk everywhere! With a very short walk in one direction we would be in Marais; the opposite direction and we would be in the latin quarter. Easy to get to the metro. We took the train to and from the airport and that was simple with the directions given by the owner of the apartment.

But the location was more than just convenient. Our days started with opening those gorgeous windows to hear the bells of Notre Dame and ended with nightly strolls along the river to get "home". The beauty of this location never stopped thrilling us.

The apartment itself is charming! Quiet neighbors, safe and secure building. Our greeter was helpful and made herself available throughout our stay. The apartment is modern, clean and the bed is very comfortable! The owner has thought of every detail.... even has a flashlight on the key toggle!

Calm and convenient

Perfect location on Ile St Louis. Very good bed and extra sofa bed. Washer/dryer. A very tall person might find the loft a bit snug but fine for me. Was greeted as arranged. Restaurant recs: les fous de l'ile, au bascou, chez janou

The building is on the Seine facing the Marais in the very centre of Paris. This location is very close to the Pont Marie bridge over the river.

There is also a beautiful tree lined pedestrian water front walk right in front of the building.

The island is away from the hustle of Paris street traffic. This is a very prime location for quiet walks around the island.
