My childhood friend had taken me with his family many times to their oceanfront home on Whidbey Island (Bush Point) when I was a kid. I loved being there more than anywhere, and wished someday I could have a family cabin and bring my kids and bring family and friends to such a magical place! We have enjoyed weekends and summers since 1998 and just recently (Nov 09) started sharing our 'Driftwood Cabin' with vacationers like you. We are so happy we did!
Situated nicely between the Greenbank Farms and historic Coupeville, the 'Cabin' sits in a prime location looking West over Admiralty Bay.
(address: 2024 Driftwood Way, Coupeville, Wa. 98239).
The entire Olympic Mountain Range is in view as you watch the Port Townsend Ferries cross. Eagles soar, sealions bark and kid's laugh. Driftwood Way is a very quiet street that ends down on our Bon Air Community private beach. Walk down your steps to beachcomb and relax awhile as you listen to the beach music. The West side is known for it's breathtaking sunsets regardless of the time of year!
Thanks Greg and Ginni. We loved your cabin! Had a wonderful time. It's comfortable, adorable, well appointed and just the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying one another. Our last morning we had a soak in the hot tub, a yummy breakfast and one last beach walk. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I and another couple rented the Driftwood Cabin for 2 nights this past weekend and as soon as we arrived we knew it was perfect. Actually we knew before when we communicated with Greg and he was so helpful and enthusiastic. We loved our stay here. The cottage was homey, beautifully decorated and fully equipped. Greg and Ginny even arranged for sunshine so could sit on the deck and watch the ocean and the sunsets. I would highly recommend the Driftwood Cabin and hope that we will be able to go back again.
My husband and I both have birthdays in March, so we decide to get away from Seattle and stay at this place for our bday's. We are sooo glad we did! This place was PERFECT! We loved the hot tub, the steps down to the beach, everything about this place was great! Greg, the owner, is by far the best owner I've conversed with! He was so friendly and quick to reply. I left a jacket and a swimsuit there and he was kind enough to mail them to me quickly. Definitely recommend this place and we plan to come back for sure!
Ah, yesteryear. When little family beach cabins dotted the shores along the various coastlines of Washington and were a place to shut out the world and focus on what really matters. Simplicity and solitude at it's finest! If what you want is a fancy shmancy copycat of a modern home that is stark and empty of history and love... please look elsewhere. If you what you need, is to create a memory that you can return to in your mind long after you get back home... then you must come to the Driftwood Cabin! It is clean, well maintained and obviously loved and cared for. There is such a variety of little things that help put you at ease, like when you say, "oh I wonder if they have a...YES, they have one!" So many vacation rentals are stripped down to nearly nothing these days and have no personality. But this place feels like you stepped into an actual home that was prepared just for you, rather than just another money maker. Plenty of thought was put into making a weary soul feel cared for by providing so many little niceties. I would recommend for couples or small families with children over the age of 5, as the small loft has a pull down ladder, and the outdoor space sits on a very steep bluff.
Traveled here with my mom for Mother's Day weekend, and we were treated to a very special time of memorable day trips to the Farmer's Market in Coupeville, Greenbank Farms for a sandwich and pie (mmmm!) Langley for a family visit, the Meerkerk Gardens for a spectacular show of rhodies in bloom, and of course just enjoying the view, the birds, and the sunset! Greg shows amazing pride of ownership and care towards his guests, and provides lots of useful tips and information when booking. The cabin is a quaint 1960's vintage getaway. Remember that, and you'll also remember that Island Time is a whole other ballgame, and worth the escape and the simple pleasure of coming in out of the rain. Lovely.
We can't say enough about Gregs place. Clean, cozy, well stocked and the views. Oh the views. We didn't miss a sunset while we were there. Greg is the most kindest owner we've come across yet, and we've rented for years. He was so easy to work with, kept in touch with us. I almost don't want to leave such a good review because I want the space available for us whenever we need ;) We'd come back and do business with Greg a million times over. So pleased. The cabin is well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. Coffee and snacks there for us. Everything is nice and clean, beds are beyond comfortable. Thank you so much Greg for opening your home to us, we can't wait to go back!
My fiancee and I stayed at Greg's place for a week over Thanksgiving and could not have had a better time! The view was amazing, the place was very cute, and Greg was super accommodating. He left all sorts of goodies out for us, and even helped me out with shipping some specific food I needed for cooking a family tradition Thanksgiving dish.
Whidbey Island is a wonderful place with tons to do. We explored the island pretty well, but also used the house as a staging ground for exploring a lot of the area around it as well-trips up to Vancouver, out to North Cascades, down to Seattle.
Could not have asked for a better place to stay overall!
Brought my wife to the Driftwood cabin on Whidbey Island for two nights. We are celebrating our 6th anniversary next month but wanted to take advantage of the fair guarantee on good September weather. We were amazed! Not only was the cabin clean and cozy and offered all the amenities, the weather provided one of the most amazing sunsets we have ever seen. We sat out on the deck for the first half of the sunset and then plopped into the hot tub for the last half. We were relaxed after only the first night. Spent the next morning wandering the private beach. We were the only ones walking the beach! Plenty of things to do and great food in the nearby towns and the ferry terminal is only a few minutes away for the ride to Port Townsend. You couldn't find a more perfect location for a beach getaway. The owner, Greg, made everything so easy and we are looking forward to returning as soon as possible. Quite a find!!
The 'Driftwood cabin' is located in the private Bon Air Beach Community in central Whidbey Island. You look west across Admiralty Bay and the Olympic Mountains. Whidbey is host to everything from the Mussel Festival to the famous Farmer's Market, and the Island County Fair. The cabin is super cozy and comfy and you and your family will feel like it's Your cabin! That's how we do it!! We also have Comfy Queen beds in both bedrooms, two single beds in the sleeping Loft. Enjoy!!
