About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-18)

Enjoy magnificent views from the huge deck of our hilltop home at the base of the Pine Valley Mountains, while enjoying one of several outdoor fire pits. Dark skies make wonderful stargazing from the comfort of the hot tub or with a telescope from the deck. No ordinary vacation rental, ours is a 50 ACRE RANCH with tons of activities and amenities. Fish in our PRIVATE FISHING POND stocked with trout and bass. ATV trail ride right from the ranch into the Bumblebee Mountains with hundreds of miles of roads and trails through juniper, pine and aspen forests. Our barn boasts more than just livestock, although there are plenty of animals, it has a pool table, foosball, ping pong, air hockey and other games. The kids love the animals; fallow deer, sheep, goats, horses, cows, pea foul, chickens, geese, ducks, rabbits and more. Finally enjoy a game of horseshoes or Frisbee golf in the pasture or enjoy the shade of the cottonwoods at the picnic area by the stream. **WE ONLY RENT TO ONE GROUP AT A TIME, so in essence this will be your own personal ranch for the duration of your stay.

The home itself is a semi-rustic cowboy themed getaway with three bedrooms, three baths, and hide-a-beds, with floor space for more. Dining sits 16 between the dining room table and bars. RV’s are welcome. 2 wheel drive Accessible.

In addition to the many activities on the property the attractions within 1 HOUR from the property are vast and include:

The world famous Tony award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival

Tuacahn Amphitheatre

Zion National Park

Kolob State Park and Snow Canyon State Park

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Brian Head Ski Resort

Quail Creek and Sand Hollow Reservoirs (Boating & Fishing)

Of course southern Utah is world famous for its desert landscapes and outdoor activities including hiking, biking, rock crawling, climbing, hunting, fishing, shopping, dining, and only 1 hour and 15 minutes to Mesquite, Nevada for gambling and nightlife.

Keep in mind that this is a semi-rustic working farm, where animals and adventure abound. If you are looking for something unique and a little off the beaten path, this is definitely for you. Also, beware that the nearest store is the gas station 5 minutes from the farm. We are situated in New Harmony, Utah. Nestled between the Pine Valley Wilderness and Bumblebee Mountain about 1/2 way between Cedar City and St. George 5 miles west of I-15. The weather is mild and comparable to Cedar City which is only 25 minutes north. St. George is a little further at 40 minutes south.

Harmony Haven is an excellent choice for vacations, family reunions, weddings, company parties, and more. In addition to nightly rentals we offer wedding and event packages, please call for details.

Fishing at our private stocked pond is free for catch-and-release and only $5 per fish kept (limit 2 per guest) on the Honor System. We supply several fishing rods and some tackle but you are welcome to bring your own. We do not provide ATV’s or horseback riding.

About Jan Prisbrey

We love the outdoors and the beauty and many activities of Southern Utah's diverse desert to mountain landscapes. Harmony Haven is our life’s dream and we love our little ranch and reside here year round. We care for the animals and maintain the property all the while enjoying all of the activities available to our guests. The idea to first share our ranch came when a local organization arranged for a young man with leukemia to fulfill his lifelong dream of wild turkey hunting which we arranged for him and his family; then came a couple of wedding ceremonies and family reunions with the Kolob Fingers in the background and soon it evolved in to a full time vacation/event property. Our children are all grown, though they and our grandchildren are here as often as possible, so the two of us were able to move quite comfortably into the small bunk house where we enjoy our ranch from a somewhat less elevated vantage. We appreciate your consideration of our rental and are sure that you will enjoy your stay as so many guests before you. -Jan and Kendall

Jan Prisbrey purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Jan Prisbrey chose Utah

Although we enjoy the occassional vacation to big cities, we are small town people who love Utah's outdoors. We decided to purchase this property because it is centrally located between two cities, albeit relatively small cities, that have everything we could want from dining, movies, golf, shopping and more. As far as we are concerned though, we have the rare privilege of coming home to peaceful mountain views with wildlife and farm animals in our pastures and ATV's and fishing from our front door.

What makes this cabin unique

There is a private fishing pond on the property stocked with bass and trout and the fishing is free and does not require a license. It is catch and release. You can choose to keep fish at $5 a fish. You can ride ATV's right from the ranch a couple of miles and into the mountains. We are surrounded by some of the most scenic state and national parks in the country and have the advantage of being close to St. George with all of the activities it has to offer without the summer heat.

Fantastic views from deck to observe deer, sheep & pheasants, pea hens & chicks daily.

My husband & I, along with 2 daughters, 1 son-in-law, one 7+ yr old grandson, and 1 rat terrier dog had a wonderful time staying at the house. It was close enough to both Bryce & Zion NPS & Utah Shakespeare Festival to attend events and do many things. Grandson particularly enjoyed all the farm animals and went to feed them at least 2x a day. Favorite was the dog and kittens. Fishing at the pond was fun also as his grandpa caught 4 large trout (released back). Plenty of space and bedrooms separated so privacy was not an issue. 3 bathrooms was a plus too. One day we had a beautiful lightning show. Would recommend this to everyone.

Mother of the Bride Review

  • 5 of 5

We got up there early on A Thursday afternoon to prepare for a Saturday wedding. Everything was wonderful. I was able to talk to the owners and get all my questions answered immediately when we got up there even though Janice was in Hawaii, she took the time to answer her phone and my few questions. The views were great, and even though it was hotter than normal everything turned out great. I will definitely recommend more to stay here. I know I plan on coming and staying again, even just for a family getaway.

Perfect Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. The property came with all the comforts of home with a five star view. The décor of the property fit exactly what you expect for a southern Utah trip. I could not come up with one complaint for our stay at the property. The back deck of the property made for a great place to relax. Do not forget the fishing pond, which was stocked with some serious sized rainbow trout.

The property is within a 1 hour drive to the main entrance to Zion National Park and approximately 2 hours to Bryce Canyon. The underrated Dixie National Forrest is a short 30 minute drive to the property.

Lastly, Jan was the most accommodating host. She made the check in and check out process seem less. Jan went out of her way to make sure the experience was positive for us. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a secluded stay in southern Utah.

I have to write in response to previous 3-star review

  • 5 of 5

I just sat down to book our annual stay with Jan and Kendall and was surprised by the previous review. I would be remiss if I didn't write something in response to it and defend these owners {because I know that they are too nice to do it for themselves}

Our family has had the privilege to stay at this fun cabin retreat for the last 2 years and will be booking it again for this year. We love that this cabin is secluded and is set up on top a hill on its 50 acre property {just as the description states} if a gas station were to be any closer it would still be 2 miles away.... the property is huge and allows room for 4-wheelers and horseback riding. The lower end of the property has a children's playground, tire swing and trampoline and across from that is a huge grass area for soccer or volley ball, tree houses and huge family fire pit. This property couldn't be more perfect for a large family get away or family reunion. The view from the deck is unparalleled! {especially from the brand new hot tub} I feel like when I book a "cabin" that is what I'm going to get, animal mounts and all. It is a working farm and having the game room in the barn allowed for my kids to interact with amazing farm animals and fallow deer that they would never be able to in any other situation. Sounds like because of human-error on a cleaning schedule fowl up at the beginning of their stay, this guest had a bad taste in their mouth. It is unfortunate, mix ups happen but I know these hosts would go out of their way to make it right.

I truly hope that a review like that would not make them decide to stop renting out their property because that would mean that the other 95% of their guests will miss out on a family getaway that we cherish and look forward to.

Please keep up the good work and don't bend for the few but continue for the many!

It was a nice experience overall, but a little disappointing at first.

  • 3 of 5

When we arrived on the property it was evident that the house had not been cleaned before our coming. The stove was dirty and there was liquid in the coffee pot. Windows needed cleaning and the bathrooms were not the best. Outside the grill and the hot tub were dirty. We called Jan and her and her husband came and cleaned the hot tub and grill and apologized for the communication failure with their cleaning person who apparently thought we were coming a day later. Nothing further happened however so we cleaned all the dishes before using them. The house needs updating overall and is not the place to stay if you don't care for animal mounts.

The house is good size and maybe the best feature is the deck and view from there. The distant mountains are very scenic and plenty of wild life is present much of the time. The barn serves much better as a barn for the variety of animals than it does as a game room.

The location is convenient to the west entrance to Zion Natl Park and the Kolob Canyon hiking trails.

A convenience/gas station is about 6 miles away. Full grocery and liquor store are about 27 miles in Cedar City.

We definitely enjoyed our vacation there but it could have been better.
