Spacious, quiet area to relax

  • 5 of 5

My family of six go to different areas to ski each year and we were looking for a place that could accommodate all of us. I sent an inquiry and immediately got a response that this lovely home was available. Out intent was to ski, then go to the house, but it rained all the way up, so we went directly to the house. Bob was not expecting us as he had asked the time we were going to be checking in, but we did not anticipate the rain. We got a very warm welcome as he was there turning on the heat. The house was perfect for the 6 of us, clean and cozy. There were a zillion movies available and a huge tv to watch football. The only problem that we had was the kids both wanted the top bunk. I would highly recommend this home.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

The house was great. We've stayed in a lot of vacation homes and this house checked all the boxes. It's very clean, comfortable great layout and very well stocked. Bob was incredibly responsive and attentive to our needs. He checked in with us to ensure we were comfortable and had what we needed and we were comfortable. We would definitely consider this house if we make our way back to Sunday River.

Saint Joseph MO,

Quiet and great location; helpful owner

  • 4 of 5

This was a very accommodating home. Everything that one would need, from towels, to cooking utensils, was available. The beds were quite comfy.

The owner went out of his way to make our vacation memorable, even sending a huge package of information on the area to peruse before we arrived. The instructions for the home the owner emailed to me were clear and concise.

We did not make use of any of the beach items as the weather turned cooler soon after our arrival.

The one thing that pulled the rating down a star were the stairs. We are both fairly small women who are retired. Getting the luggage up and down the stairs from/to the basement level was pretty difficult. Also, the stairs to the master bedroom were a challenge. There is an exit from the kitchen leading to the large deck that has only two steps. This would have been a much easier way to bring and exit luggage. Unfortunately, the grass was too wet to use this exit.

I have rented from VRBO/HomeAway for many years. This owner was the most helpful and personable of any of my past rental experiences. Kudos to him.

All in all, I would highly recommend this home if stairs are not a problem.

Great week in a great home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at the house. Bob could not have been more accommodating in making sure our stay went well. Went out of his way to provide tips and suggestions on the area. The house is well set up for a family with game room downstairs and plenty of room. Its tucked in the woods although near the pond though we were there for skiing so can't comment on that. Down the street from Mt. Abrams, and 20 min from Sunday River. We will plan to return next season.

Great for multi-generational family vacation

  • 5 of 5

I concur with other reviewers. Bob was a pleasure to deal with -prompt flexible friendly. He went the extra mile when he discovered a beloved teddy lost behind a bed and promptly sent it to our home! Gladness and relieved hugs ensued.

More practically the house was clean comfortable and well provisioned and furnished. Beds comfortable, grill on the deck worked great.

The lake was lovely, about a three minute car ride from the house, with a sandy beach which sloped gradually into the water. Perfect for kids, water crystal clear, and during our mid August stay we had the beach all to ourselves.

Our grandsons interest in minerals and gems makes this area perfect for "rock hounding". Check out rock museum in bethel. Great hiking for all levels close by. Bethel just a few minutes away.

This house was just what we wanted - all the mod cons combined with a gentle experience of rural Maine. Not cookie cutter condo
