Stephen Ehlinger purchased this house in 2002
This property was chosen as a personal residence by the owner. It was totally restored to the highest standards using top-of-the line materials. Owner has moved out and is using the property for short-term and long-term rentals
This property was built in 1904 and is located in a prime area of uptown new orleans. directly across the street from a very old and popular grocery store which has everything you need for your stay. fabulous pre-cooked meals that you can pop into the microwave for your convenience.
My husband and I have been married for 10 years and have 3 young children, 6 yrs.,4 yrs., and 1 yr. we have had the pleasure of staying in countless B & B's, VRBO's and cabins. This property is hands down a 5-star experience. All the sheets, towels, linens, pillows and kitchen equipment are brand new. The house is as clean as it can be and best of all, it is clutter-free. Simply elegant and not meant for the Bourbon Street Rebel Rouser. True New Orleans Architecture. Great location!,
We stayed here for Jazz Fest 2016, and enjoyed the home very much. Although we didn't get to make use of the outdoor area due to rain, the inside was comfy and inviting, with plenty of room for two couples and lots of wet clothes! We loved the neighborhood, and it felt very uncrowded and non-touristy for an "event" weekend. Langenstein's across the street is a great little grocery with a good selection of meats and cheeses and pre-made items. All in all, a wonderful stay! We will be back! Thanks to Stephen for everything.
The house was amazing, great front porch, great man cave- we would love to stay here again!
Beautiful house conveniently located across from a nice little grocery store, easy walk to street car, Magazine Street restaurants and shops, Audubon Park and Tulane campus. The property was very well-decorated, with comfortable beds, good space for cooking and entertaining. Great front porch and covered back yard "man cave" with bbq grill and large table. Layout of rooms is especially nice for a 6-person occupancy since living room with sofa bed can be closed off for complete privacy. There is some street noise from the front room but the 2 bedrooms are very quiet. Master suite is spacious and has a great bathroom. Excellent property, we will definitely come again.
Beautiful decor and incredibly clean, with all the necessities. There is even a television on the patio for all you football fans! Stephen is totally accessible if you have any needs/concerns. An awesome experience in New Orleans. Thanks, Stephen!
My son and daughter-in-law and their two boys and my husband and I stayed for 5 nights. We were in town for a wedding. The house is charming and we had plenty of room. The beds and pillows and bed linens need to be updated. The place has tons of character and we loved the location. Right across the street from Langenstein's grocery, good parking. We walked to Audubon park one day and then drove over there (only a mile) and walked along the path for another 2 miles daily. So lovely. We will definately rebook this house in the future.
We stayed at the "Pitt Stop" for 4 nights and loved the location. It's convenient to pretty much any tourist activity you can think of...just a few blocks from the St. Charles Ave streetcar, walking distance to Audubon Park, great restaurant options nearby. Having Langenstein's across the street was a big plus! The home was clean and offered ample space for 4 adults. The owner was quick to reply to my texts regarding Internet connection and parking issues. I felt I could only give 4 stars because we all found the beds to be uncomfortable and the sheets and dishwasher need upgrading. Also, the CDs were in the wrong cases (Jimmy Buffet cd in Jonny Lang case), although I'm sure this was done by previous visitors and isn't really something the owner can control. My suggestion is just put it on WWOZ and go (or use your own cd)! Otherwise, we had everything we needed and appreciated having the Keurig for coffee on the go. Loved having the his and hers sinks in master bath as well as a nice, big shower. We had a great weekend experiencing New Orleans!
historic french quarter, fine dining and shopping. convenient to Audubon park, aquarium of the Americas, riverboat cruises, audubon golf course, st. charles ave. streetcar line, magazine st. sho[pping, Tulane and Loyola University, New Orleans Fair grounds and Jazz festival/ french quarter festival and lots more!
