"Exceeded expectations for the price and location."

The unit was really nicely furnished. Had a nice LCD Hdtv and full kitchen with pots/pans the works. Even included beach chairs, towels, a small cooler, and hair dryer which saved a lot of room when packing. The bed was comfortable and the unit was fine for two people for the week. Not much of a view but who goes to Hawaii to enjoy the view from the room. Price was great and the free parking was a huge convenience as parking in Waikiki can be really difficult. I would highly recommend staying here because it feels much more homely then a hotel which helps when you are staying for an extended period of time. I lived in Honolulu for 18 months and knew several people who lived in Waikiki and this unit and building was one of the nicest I had seen.

Super cozy and convenient crash pad! Excellent value

They thought of it all, when they stocked this place. Seriously, just pack your swimsuit because they have the beach chairs, wine opener, boogie boards, coffee maker, towels and everything else covered! Super cozy place, walkable to the beach and shops.

The check in process was simple and smooth. The apartment looked exactly like the pictures on here. The location is ideal - a few blocks away from Waikiki Beach and from the hotel where my conference was held (Hilton Hawaiian). There are dozens of restaurants - all rated very highly, in the local area. And if you are into high-end shopping...all the big name stores are only 2-3 blocks away. We walked to Diamond Head and to Chinatown (note, you must be used to long walks!). The free parking space is a HUGE savings to anyone renting this place Guess what: there is a STARBUCKS literally steps away - right across the street. For those of you needing groceries, there are many ABC Stores nearby that have all the essentials. The internet connectivity was very fast. Best kept secret - one of the best restaurants on Oahu is right next door: Heavenly. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - the restaurant is a great place to hang out with coffee table books and art adorning its walls. There is a washer and dryer on the same floor and it only costs $2.50 to wash and dry a load. I highly recommend this host and this condo. He has other units available if this one is not available. He has 3 other colleagues to contact if Nikodem is not available.

Stayed with two friends (3 women total) and while snug it worked for us. The pull-out couch was comfortable and the bed even more so. Communication with Niko was easy and the instructions for self-check-in were easy to follow. The location was great, a short walk to the beach, shops & restaurants surrounding us. What put this place over the top were the little details such as beach chairs, a little cooler, umbrella & boogie board in the hall closet, and car charger in the drawer. I would definitely stay here again!

Good price, good location

This place is perfect for a few nights in Waikiki. We are 'local' from the Big Island and needed a comfortable place to call home for two nights while we were taking care of doctor visits in Honolulu. The Tropical Studio was ideal for us. The studio is dated and needs a bit of work, but is really comfortable and spacious. I can certainly recommend staying here.

Not at all impressed!

We have stayed in Hawaii many times before. We decided to spend a bit more this year and stay here, a bit closer to 'the heart of Waikiki". Upon arrival the key was supposed to be in a mailbox but as it turns out they had keys to 2 properties there and the other tenants had taken ours as well. We were lucky to reach the owner and he gave us a key lock code to get us in. We did not feel at all secure until noon the next day when we were finally able to get the keys back from the other renters. It was a terrible feeling with our possessions and passports, etc. in the suite and not even a safe in the suite. Once inside we met the other guests, the cockroach family, and while we killed between 6-12 roaches a day, they just kept coming. Being veteran Hawaii tourists we know that cockroaches are a constant rival but also that they are controlled in the better suites. Any more than one or two a day is definitely not under control and we have stayed for weeks in less expensive suites and not seen a single roach. After complaining a few times the owner did place traps and later offered to treat the suite if we didn't mind staying out for several hours. By then we had given up on it and accepted that we had to share our room with them. Other problems were 3 out of 4 steak knives broken, 2 bath and 2 beach towels total, 1 tea towel, 1 dish cloth, no can opener, tub didn't drain, full of hair in drain, stained bedding, batteries in remote dead, fridge very noisy, lobby smells badly due to Asian crab leg restaurant, location across from 2 late night bars that literally rocked our suite until after 2:00 a.m. Our overall feeling was that the owner is a cheapskate who wants to charge like a 4 star owner but spend like a 1 star owner. How much does it really cost to keep a place stocked with cheap Walmart utensils and stay on a scheduled professional pest control program. We spent at least $1,000 US more for 13 nights than this place deserved and would never stay here again.

Owner's Response: I am terribly sorry that we have not met our guests expectations. I can only wish that they had communicated any of those issues when they were noticed and gave us opportunity to correct it. Our dedicated housekeeper might have missed the dead batteries or a broken tip of the steak knife but would have replaced things like that within 24hrs at the most, usually within a few. We have never spared effort nor money to keep all our apartments in excellent shape and all equipment, furnishings etc are regularly updated as needed. Insects do happen on an occasion to be an issue in tropics and we do take every preventive measure including regular pest control treatments. And as mentioned above - we did offer to come and fix the problem immediately but were told by the guest that " it is not that big of problem" I really wish we were allowed to amend it right there and then. We have improved the self-check in system so a situation with the mixed up keys will not happen ever again. Importantly we have never jeopardized our guests or their possessions safety - key was returned first thing next morning. Building is secured. Doors have deadbolts. There wasn't any risk at all. And yes - our apartment is centrally located in the very HEART OF WAIKIKI , in the prime location, steps to the beach , restaurants and nightlife. Area may get a bit noisy on the weekend but it is a natural trade-off for central location. For guests seeking serenity and silence we usually suggest staying outside of Waikiki.

Super Location

We were looking for good location in Waikiki and we found just the right place. In minutes, we were in the heart of all the action---beach, fantastic shopping and dining. No need for a car----public transportation is great.

The condo was as described--- clean and efficient. The size of our studio was fine but I I would not recommend it for more for than 2 people.

My only disappointment was in the concierge. He was no help in any of our questions or requests. He seemed to know very little about this wonderful city. Fortunately, we ventured out on our own and found help elsewhere.

We could not agree more - location is great and yes studio apartments are most suitable for 2 adults or family with small children. Larger parties should consider renting 2 of our apartments. However, there is no concierge person or activity desk on our property. Not sure who have you spoken with but most likely it was one of our trusted security or maintenance or front desk staff. Our guests can call us for any recommendations , we are always very happy to help plan a wonderful visit! We will be very happy to have you stay with us again during your next visit in our beautiful Honolulu !
