Why Julie Schulte chose Puget Sound

After looking at real estate for two years we found the cottages. We love the location, warm in the summer protected from the northern winds. We like being able to walk 1 block to the movie theatre, grocery store, bakery/deli, morning latte and 3 restaurants. Our favorite activities include hiking and biking from the cottages.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottages are so close to Seattle, a 35 minute ferry ride, but a world apart. Step back in time to your own classic cottages!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were the first family to stay in this endearing home when it came on the rental market. The view of Puget Sound was phenomenal. While there we spotted a bald eagle, a seal, water fowl and dozens of small birds. The home is well equipped, allowing us to prepare most of our meals on-site to be enjoyed overlooking the waterfront. It was peaceful and quiet, with outstanding beds for a good night's sleep. It was conveniently located, a very short walk from an outstanding bakery and other little eateries. The location near Ft. Ward Park also gave us a great place to take morning walks. We would be happy to return for a visit. Next time we'll rent a kayak for paddling around the quiet cove.

Bainbridge Island Beach House

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful beach home on the bay. Gorgeous views from the deck, hammock, porch or couch! Walk 1 block to: farm fresh food products at Hey Day Market, delicious bakery with fresh products by 7am., Beach Cafe patio for dinner with bay views and delicious small plates, This cottage is on the SW side of the island. There are many boats to watch: a ferry comes by every few hours, sailboats, kayaks. Nice beach walks when tide is out. Lovely stay with our daughter! 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, nice kitchen.

Our annual vacation spot...

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying in the beach house. It was as wonderful as our first time and has become somewhat of a family tradition.

The house is very well kept and has the charm of historic but updated home. The supplies were ample. Plenty of towels including large beach towels. Lovely fresh linens. There's plenty of pots and pans, a coffee maker, blender and Nespresso machine. We never had a change to use those because the coffee down the street was so convenient. Again the full size washer and dryer on site are a huge plus for us.

There are lots of outdoor goodies downstairs under the deck (kites, sandtoys) and it is amazing having a beach outside your backdoor. We traveled with our two small children and there was a pack n play with sheet onsite as well as an aero bed. There is a nice little nook in the smaller bedroom that the pak n play fits nicely in.

The ability to walk to town is a huge plus for us. The bakery was my favorite. I walked there every day. Also made quite a few stops at the wine bar and froyo shop. The kitten room was also a big hit with my 4 year old.

I highly recommend staying here over staying near Winslow. It is less busy, plenty of food options, and beautiful beachfront. And the owner is wonderful to work with. You won't be disappointed.

P.S. - If you have small kids the adjacent cottage (same owner) is perfect for bringing along a set of grandparents to babysit.

Charming Beachside Cottage with Killer View

  • 5 of 5

Our family fell in love with this charming beachside cottage. The view from the back porch and yard was so magnificent. We spent almost every minute that we were at the house outside, either on the porch, in the yard or down by the water. We even rented a kayak and took it out right from the beach at the property.

That's not to say that the inside was not comfortable- the beds were very nice and the kitchen had every amenity we needed.

Julie was a gracious host. She offered tips on where to go and what to see, and even brought us a screwdriver to repair our daughter's toy!

We would love to stay here again!

A hidden gem I'm almost afraid to share <3

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four walked in and fell in love. It is so quiet and peaceful and wonderfully styled. The house was very clean and we felt at home right away. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes. I would suggest bringing your own spices, oils and other condiments. The onsite full sized washer/dryer really made staying a breeze.

The yard was amazing and you are steps from the beach. There were plenty of toys downstairs to keep our kids amused. Puzzles, movies and books inside the house as well. Don't bother driving to Lynwood. It's about two houses down. Everything you could need there. Delicious food and shops. The cat house and yogurt place were my kids favorites.

This place reminds us of where we were married and we plan on making this an annual trip and renting the studio cottage next door for babysitters/grandparents! The owner is a pleasure to deal with. Don't hesitate to book. Worth every penny.

Everything we hoped it would be.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week here in mid-July. The house is so comfortable you feel like you're at home. From the breathtaking view, the lovely front porch, the peace and tranquility of this magic spot exceeded our expectations. Julie met us at the property and gave us recommendations for places to go, restaurants and activities.

We had a double kayak delivered to the property which we used every afternoon to paddle along the shoreline looking at the beautiful scenery, homes, geese, birds.... and even jellyfish!

We walked the paths at the Bloedel Reserve, and hiked trails in the beautiful forest. No matter where we went we couldn't wait to get back to the cottage! The proximity to the village (not even a five minute walk) made it easy to go for a bakery fix, enjoy pizza, Thai and burgers. The town of Winslow near the ferry landing is a quick 8 minute drive.

Loved, loved, loved staying here! We will be back.
