Wonderful Family Vacation in Maine!

  • 5 of 5

We just had a wonderful family vacation at Eider Way. I had not ever reserved accomodations online so I was a bit nervous, but I needn't have worried. This cottage exceeded our expectations in every way! I stayed at Eider Way for a week with my husband and our three boys, ages 11, 10, and 19 months. The older boys loved the "awesome loft" and getting to drive a boat courtesy of our hosts, Emily and Bob. Our little one loved toddling around exploring the yard as well! Acadia is of course full of natural beauty, but what made our stay so special was really our hosts. The Stuarts were so helpful to us, ensuring we had everything we needed and being available to answer any questions. They live next door but seemed to have a knack for showing up only when we needed something or had a question about where to eat, hike, run, etc. Otherwise we felt that we had the place to ourselves. The property is absolutely beautiful, including a rocky beach that our boys enjoyed exploring at low tide and was the perfect spot for campfire S'mores. I am so glad that we stayed a bit off the beaten path, as we visited Bar Harbor and found it to be very crowded and it was a quick drive to the Park from Eider Way. Our cottage was truly a little oasis away from the crowds at Acadia that allowed us to refresh and recharge each evening for another day of hiking. We hope to be able to return for another visit because we so enjoyed our time there.

Lovely House and Beautiful Property!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great! The house was very clean, comfortable and cozy. The beds were in great shape. There is a new shower and refrigerator which was an added bonus. The views are gorgeous - a great place to relax! I would love to go back.

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I could not have asked for a better spot to spend our vacation together. The cottage was clean and well furnished. We rented the cottage largely based on the reviews it was given and can only echo what has already been said by others. Rent this cottage and I do not see how you could be disappointed.

A Heavenly Spot!

  • 4 of 5

This was the perfect spot for our two week stay. Everything was just as it was described and Emily and Bob were very attentive to any needs that we had. It is obvious why there are so many repeat guests. The cottage is comfortable with well stocked kitchen. The sun room/dining room combination is fantastic. The light, view of ocean, Cadillac, and the moon dancing on the water at night was perfect.

We loved the quiet secluded location with phenomenal view but easy access to Acadia. We biked, hiked, and kayaked, as well as had time for our own art work at the cottage and walks on the beach. Hope to return.

Absolutely Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Emily's cottage! Emily was great to work with and everything was very easy and trouble free. I saw from the guestbook at the cottage that there are many families who've enjoyed repeat stays there.

The property is very well maintained, quiet and private. There are plenty of cooking utensils/supplies, coffeemaker, etc so it's easy to prepare meals at home.

This place has a great view and you are literally on the beach. What's even better are the huge windows facing the water so we had our morning coffee in the sitting/2nd living room area every day. We also enjoyed the moon over the water at night. Although we didn't use the room, there is a bedroom on the 2nd floor that also has a great view of the water + moon at night too. It truly was magical.

There are pamphlets/magazine to help you discover new restaurants/activities if you don't have everything planned out in advance. We found those information items helpful during out stay. Most useful was the hiking book with the hiking map insert (it's the map that's sold everywhere).

This cottage is not along the island explorer line -- however, we didn't find that to be a big deal at all. Looking at the other cottages that we passed exploring Mt. Desert Island, we're glad we made this choice. It was soooo much nicer and private. And again, the view and space really made the experience special. We really lucked out in our choice :) Big Thanks again to Emily!
