Half Baths1
Space 2,300 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

4 bedroom, 1 bath 2 half bath, sleeps 12

The historic Carriage House is part of the Stout Farm built in the early 1900s. It used to house some of the earliest automobiles ever built, with chauffeur's living quarters above the stalls. It has since been turned into a family home and is available for vacation rental. It is located on beautiful Red Cedar Lake just 5 miles south of Birchwood and 14 miles northeast of Rice Lake. This private home is just 50 feet from the waters edge with a wide covered walkway leading you from the front door, right down to the water with a large gazebo at the end for dining or just sitting and relaxing complete with table, chairs and gas grill. The dock is accessed directly from the gazebo, can hold two boats and has a swim ladder. The Boat landing is nearby. The gazebo now has a railing and gate.

The home has 2300 sq. ft., 4 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, living room, dining room, sunroom and large eat-in kitchen. it is fully equipped, including all linens, dishes, 3 TVs, VCR/DVD/Satellite, partial WIFI, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, A/C, and great views from every room, most with views of the beautiful lake. You may also use the paddleboat, canoe and 14' row boat(without motor), and a small area for toddlers to play in the water (sand & small rocks). A pontoon is available to rent for $125/day or $500/week (first tank gas included) plus tax.

This is a popular clean, 1800 acre lake, with good fishing and several islands making it unique and picturesque. It also connects to Balsam Lake on the north and Hemlock Lake on the south, making for excellent exploring and more fishing spots. There are golf courses, restaurants, shopping and other attractions nearby.

See rates below. From early June to late August rentals are weekly from Saturday to Saturday. Other dates are available on a 3 day minimum basis.

Lots of room and very private...worked well for our clan of ten. Carpet could use cleaning upstairs.

We had a great time.... clean water for swimming and a covered walkway from house to dock. Plenty of room under cover at the dock for all of us. House and dock were well equipped for for seating. Kitchen was the best equipped VRBO in our experience over the years.

My husband and I just got back home from spending a week at the Carriage House. Breck and Pat are such nice people and they aim to please! The house was very clean along with the cupboards and kitchen utensils. It was also very well stocked with anything you might need! I especially enjoyed the claw foot bath tub upstairs. The highlight is the covered walk way to the gazebo that sits right over the lake! Beautiful views of the sunrise. Boat dock worked out very well for our boat. No complaints at all....and looking forward to going back again!

Great Place and good weather. We brought two boats and there was plenty of room to park the trailers. The covered walk way to the dock was very nice in the afternoon when taking a break from fishing. Our party caught a lot of fish during the week we stayed. I recommend the boat launch about a mile north of the home. Concrete well into the water and well worth the $5.00 that covers put in and take out. Breck and Pat were gracious hosts during our stay and even lent us a hair dryer we forgot to bring and brought over a box of movies for our grandson.

We stayed for the first time at the Carriage House the last week in July. We've rented homes in this area of Wisconsin in both the winter and summer months for several years now. I realize everybody's idea of "ideal" varies a lot depending upon their group size, age and interests, but for our group this was as close to perfect as we'll get. It is the first time we are re-booking for the same house. The house was clean and very comfortable. We had a group of six; four adults and two teenagers. I was a little nervous about only having one shower, but that worked out fine and we never ran out of hot water. We've realized over the years that although the rental house and cleanliness is very important; more important to us is the lake access since we're there for the lake! This was second to none for lake access. We were fortunate to have a great weather week, but had we not, the covered, cemented walkway would have been appreciated even more. The gazebo at the end as a wonderful place for storage and for enjoying great lake views and breezes without the sun. Swimming off the dock was great - not weedy at all and very clear. The owners are close by, but leave you to rest and relax unless you ask for assistance. They are eager to please and accept feedback. We felt like we had plenty of privacy. Most of the homes we've rented have been more of an open concept floor plan, but we found we actually preferred the separate spaces in this home much better. We have some early risers, and others who sleep in. Either group could be up and about without disturbing the other. This is a gem that we hope to be able to rent for years to come. Thank you to Breck and Pat for offering this rental!
