When we arrived after 10 hours to get there, there was no key in key box. Also we were mislead to believe that we had a big bock and waterfront. This both were not that. You had to drive 1/2 mile to get to water. There was no dock out at all.
We went to make beds and the king size bed sheets were not washed. They had dried blood all over them.
Carol said she had someone in cleaning for 5 hours. This proved to be untrue. Cobwebs all over kitchen sink. Dust all over end tables. There also was a logging operation going on in driveway.
Carol refused to give us any money back. We didn't stay at all.
Our vacation was a big disaster. Would not recommend this person or place.
We had a wonderful experience. The weather was exceptional cold- but the fireplace was great at keeping us warm and adding to the atmosphere.
The deer that visited several times a day added to the uniqueness of the experience.
The property is spacious and comfortable, with all the creature comforts ie; washer/dryer, dishwasher all the wood that on might want, Television, DVD player and a variety on movies and books.
We will definitely return again in the future. We thank the owners for sharing this gem with us.
Very beautiful place. The wildlife and views were amazing. Highly recommend.
Very beautiful views of the lake and the sunsets are awesome. Had deer around the camp all three days we were there.
Beautiful, well-kept home with a killer view. It rained pretty much the entire two days we were there, so we didn't get to experience the outdoors. But, the house was so cozy, we didn't mind curling up on the oversized loveseat to binge on movies. Kitchen is beautiful and well-stocked. We used it for a romantic get away, but with the extra bedrooms and bathroom downstairs it would work perfectly for a family as well. Hot tub on the deck was the icing on top! The ONLY thing that kept me from giving this property the 5th star was the lack of bathroom attached to the master bedroom on the top floor. Having to come down to the main living space to shower, etc. was not terribly convenient. Otherwise, highly recommend!!
The cabin is beautiful! It has everything that you could possibly need. The owner Carol is a great person. We had a glass of wine and hit it off very well - a friendship as been started. Monday we went moose watching and saw 5 moose - Chris Young was a fantastic guide. Tuesday went to Moxie Falls which is breath taking - the one mile hike was very easy. Wednesday and Thursday went to Acadia and Bar Harbor which is way to commercialized for me. Stay in the Moosehead mountains for the simple life. Friday we came back to the cabin and Carol took us for a boat ride to see Mt. Kineo. The ride was fun and with great new friends! Again, I want to say that the cabin was very nice. It was clean and we did not want for anything. Sat in the hot tub too. You can see the lake from the cabin and the sunsets are wonderful. Make sure that you feed the deer. We had them so close we could reach out and touch them. The mother deer had twin fawns. Thanks Carol for such fabulous hosting. We will be back. Ginger & Chelsea Carpenter from Pittsburgh, PA.
Moosehead lake encompasses over 40 acres. It is the largest lake in Maine. There are also dozens of small ponds and smaller lakes for those of you seeking canoeing and kayaking in pristine environments with up close experiences with loons, moose, deer and a variety of birds including eagles.
There are hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails throughout the area which are accessible directly from our property. This is a hunting and fishing paradise offering opportunities for small and big game hunting as well as world class fly-fishing.
The Penobscot and Kennebec Rivers can offer you a thrilling ride with dam controlled class 3-5 whitewater experiences. For those of you less timid we have a delightful hike right to the river's edge where you can experience the thrill up close.
Bring your camera as photo opportunities abound.
