Guestbook comments from the owner

A very beautiful property with super nice accommodating owners. Great access to the lake and the ATV trails right from the front door. The deer walk right up to the back door everyday. Another few days and they would have been eating from our hands. Look no further if you are looking for a clean, private, spacious place to spend some time in the Moosehead Lake Region.

The house was a lovely home away from home

  • 5 of 5

The house has a nice atmosphere and has cozy furnishings and decor. I wouldn't say it was suitable for a child under 8 (lots of breakables and stairs). I loved the layout and the privacy of the house. The binder was very helpful and the fireplace was perfect for the cold weather outside. We were able to see deer further down the road and on the property it was pretty amazing. The people in the little community seem to be very friendly and there is a little bookshop I could spend hours in... don't miss it! Lovely stay, thank you Carol :)

Excellent Value

  • 5 of 5

This was our 15th 'Homeaway' and among the best, if not THE best value. For under 1K we rented this property for a week. In our experience similar properties are priced about 30% higher. Furthermore if you leave the place in good condition there are no added cleaning fees, which I've seen as high as $250. Kudos to the owner for making this possible. The place is very private, which is important to us. It's near the end of a dead end street. The fireplace is as pictured and comes with no shortage of beautiful dry firewood. The hot tub is nice too. We had hoped to do some ATVing as there is direct trail access, but the weather got in the way of that. Since it was just the two of us we didn't use the nicely finished basement-level with the two additional bedrooms. The top floor bedroom was comfortable, and the best view of the lake in the distance (I mentioned to the owner a standard round hand-rail to the top floor would be a plus for trips up and down in the middle of the night). And, ok, I read the note on the fridge about feeding the deer and didn't think too much about it ... until ... looking out the bathroom around dusk ... I see these two sets of big sad brown eyes looking back at me ... as if to say ... 'when are you going to feed me?' So, yes, we fed the deer the food provided. They're like dogs! They're there when you drive up at the end of the day running back and forth to their standard feeding spot waiting for their meal, which we obliged. It's very sweet (and maybe just a little disturbing - LOL).

Where do you live?

A beautiful, tranquil, homey get-away!

  • 5 of 5

This home deserves our five star rating without a doubt. Having stayed at a number of home rentals over the years, we found this cozy cabin to be one of our favorites. It was as though we lived there ourselves as it had a fully stocked kitchen, books, movies, games, internet service, comfortable beds, plenty of wood for the two fireplaces (inside and out), and the owner even provided birdseed for the feeder and corn to feed the resident deer. Our stay was during the peak foliage of beautiful Maine and we were able to enjoy a breathtaking view from a clean hot tub overlooking Moosehead Lake while a family of deer were walking the grounds. It was tranquil and very quiet there. We loved the woodsy decor throughout the home and especially enjoyed the deck off the upstairs bedroom where we watched the moon set over the lake in the early morning. What more is there to say? It was truly a warm and inviting place to get away from the hustle of life. The owner was very nice, extremely helpful, and accommodating. We plan to return and highly recommend it to anyone.

Just a great house in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures just can't do this house justice. It's beautiful wood interior and vaulted ceilings are a perfect compliment to the stellar views to the west of the lake and the sunsets. If you like piece and quiet, which is only interrupted by the sounds of nature, then you'll love it. The house is impeccably decorated and the living room is warm and comfortable. The upstairs master bedroom has outstanding views and a comfy sleep number mattress. The delicious clear well water was another treat. Sitting out on the deck at night and viewing the Milky Way in all of its glory was also something special. Honestly, I can't think of enough good things to say about our stay. It's just the perfect place to discover a beautiful area.

We absolutely loved our vacation at this charming home.

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about how much we loved our vacation at this property. The photos do not do justice to this charming home with so much character. We loved the views, the deck with the hot tub and swing, the balcony off the bedroom, the fireplace, the deer, the privacy, the smell of the fresh air...I could go on and on. We were very sad when it was time to go back home and we hope to visit again. Thank you for the memories of this beautiful vacation. I will never forget the beauty of the Moosehead Lake region.

Absolutely breathtaking!

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot begin to describe how beautiful this house and property are alike. From the moment you walk through the door you feel at home. The layout of the house is perfect for entertaining family and friends. The house is close to town but far enough away to give you that secluded Maine feeling. If you are looking for a place to relax and explore nature and all it has to offer, then this is the house for you. I gurantee you will not be disappointed. My only regret is that I didnt stay longer. Thanks again Carol for sharing the magic of your home with my family and I.
