About Anne Stone

This property is owned by a longtime Bainbridge Island family that moved here from Seattle 50 plus years ago. It is our little piece of heaven that we have to share with you. It is managed by two sisters, one who lives in Oregon and one in Seattle who along with their brother look forward to their children enjoying this property with their children!

Anne Stone purchased this house in 1956

Why Anne Stone chose Puget Sound

Jake's Retreat was the original owner's little piece of heaven for over 55 years. It has been passed down to his kids who are keeping if for their children to enjoy. The original house was build in 1910 and has undergone three major additions/remodels that have tripled the size of the little cabin that Jake bought with his young bride in 1956.

What makes this house unique

The house is part of the Port Madison water company property that means it enjoys a private beach that runs the length of the neighborhood, a large forested green belt with trails behind the house, and a private dock with a boat launching ramp.

Beautiful view, great house

  • 5 of 5

I spent the weekend there with a group of friends. We cooked meals in the kitchen and on the grill, sat in the hot tub, socialized on the deck, and slept well in the comfy beds. The view is great and the location is ideal. I highly recommend this property!

Another Enjoyable Stay at Jake's Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, comfy vacation home overlooking the water at Pt. Madison on Bainbridge Island. It's perfect for our small group of friends to gather. This was our 3rd visit. Highly recommended.

Great Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This rental was a wonderful experience. The home was as advertised, clean, and so comfortable! It was great to find a home so prepared for our dog to come as well. Anne was great to work with, I would definitely come back. Thanks!

Owner's Response: So glad you had a good time on the Island. We want folks to feel comfortable and enjoy this little piece of heaven as much as we do! We are a dog family and understand how much it means to people to be able to travel with Fido. Come see us again.

Great views. Full (not queen) bed surprised us.

  • 4 of 5

The house is in a great location w/ great views. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. We were disappointed, however, to find that the bedroom w/ the 4 poster bed is actually a FULL size and NOT a queen as listed on VRBO. The 5 adults in our party all looked at it (we all have queen beds at home), and we are sure this is a full size and not a queen. This is not a big deal for most couples, but our 3-year-old always wants to sleep in our bed when we travel, which made for a really tight fit for the 3 of us! (We gave the king room to our friends w/ 2 little ones). Other than that, we all had an enjoyable stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Kristen, Thanks for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay and our peaceful bay view! I am sorry about the queen versus double bed listing on our site. Thanks for calling this to our attention. I changed it in the listing for future renters. Happy travels, Anne

Beautiful place inside and out!

  • 4 of 5

We had 9 guests stay two nights and couldn't have been happier. The kitchen had all the amenities one would need for cooking any meal of the day. Certain bedrooms are definitely better than others, be sure to take note of the room with the two bunk beds when reserving. We did, but I think it still surprised some, ha! The hot tub was clean and worked great, the two bathrooms were also clean and nice. The pictures make the place seem more out dated than it is. The neighborhood was quiet and great for morning jogs/walks along the water.

Owner's Response: Glad you had a nice stay! Yes we are very clear that part of that 10 sleeping count includes two sets of bunk beds so people are not thinking couples. Sounds like we need to update pictures as much has been done to the house to update over the past two years. And isn't it spectacular to wake up to that amazing view every morning! Hope you can join us again.
