Fabulous stay-Pride of ownership

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful and pride of ownership shows throughout. The owners are very thoughtful and helpful. This is the first VBRO we've stayed at where the owners provided recreational items like fishing poles, toys for the kids, water play items, etc... The property boasts marvelous vistas of the lake, sunrise, sunset, and the array of local wildlife. The location of the property is perfect for those who wish to stay and play or check out historical Montana. Overall, we had a great time, even with the rain and freak snowstorm that put a minor damper on our extracurricular activities. Wonderful time!

A great place to get away from it all.

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property, with an awsome view of the lake and adjacent mountains. It definately has the Montana flavor to it, inside and out. Our stay started in late may, so the weather was hit and miss, but the times we chose to stay inside because of the weather, was comfy & warm. It is equipped with everything we needed to keep us entertained. Plenty of interesting books and family games. The fishing was good and a trip down the road to Philipsburg was an afternoon well spent, highlighted by lunch at Doe Brothers, an excursion through the candy store across the street & the many shops on main street. A real historical gem! All in all, a very enjoyable stay. We would do it all over again.... thanks Dave & Lisa!

Incredible Retreat

  • 5 of 5

If you are in the market for a stay in the Georgetown Lake area, you definitely want to given the 5-Lazy-E Homestead a look. You won't be disappointed! We arrived in August and experienced some much needed R & R. This homestead was beautiful and decorated/ outfitted very thoughtfully. A collage of these small details enhanced our trip overall, guide-binder the owner compiled. The Lake/ Mountain views were breathtaking! Several animals forage in the morning and afternoon/ dusk, some of which we saw were coyotes, white tailed deer, gray owls and other birds. There are several great guidebooks about the area in the house.

My husband took advantage of fly fishing in the Lake and Blue Ribbon Trout Steam about 30 miles away. I enjoyed hikes and walks as well as having our dogs retrieve decoys from the lake. Day-trips to Missoula are doable and two smaller towns provide provisions close by (Anaconda and Philipsburg). The kitchen is well stocked as well! Again the decor is awesome, love love the "outhouse" style half bath in the mud-room. The back porch was awesome, especially the cozy screened indoor porch the serves as a go between house and backporch. The fireplace was awesome as well as doors on barn-track. Can't wait to return for winter and check out the skiing!

Great Home Away

  • 4 of 5

I rented this house for a two-week personal retreat. It was wonderful! So well equipped that you need to bring little besides a toothbrush! Property is well-maintained and clean. The lake and mountain views were great (except for days when smoke from the forest fires lowered visibility), both from the living room snuggled next to the fireplace and from the large deck sitting in the sunshine. The screened porch provided a nice "in between" spot to enjoy sunrise with a cup of coffee. The house is both people and dog friendly. THe owners are very accommodating and friendly. We couldn't have asked for more.

Under a vast sky providing endless days of sunshine, set against the dramatic backdrop of the soaring, snow capped peaks of the Anaconda Pintlers, is the stunning alpine body of water known as Georgetown Lake.

At 6,425 feet above sea level, averaging 16 feet in depth, Georgetown Lake expands over 3700 acres. It is nestled within three mountain ranges; the Anaconda Pintlers to the South, the Sapphire Range to the West and the Flint Creek Range to the East. The closest municipalities are the historic mining towns of Anaconda, 14 miles to the East and Philipsburg 10 miles to the North.

The Lake, encompassing both Deer Lodge and Granite Counties, was created in 1885 by damming N. Flint Creek. Originally used to produce power, the lake is now primarily used for outdoor recreation and to provide water to down valley ranchers.

The Lake is home to large populations of trophy sized rainbow and brook trout as well as large numbers of kokanee salmon. This blue ribbon fishery, along with some of the best ice fishing in the state, is rated Montana’s most prolific lake with more fish caught per person than any other lake in Montana.

Large tracts of the Deer Lodge National Forest and other public land provide prime habitat for abundant wildlife and big game. This, along with a myriad of nearby rivers, streams, creeks and mountain lakes, trail systems that extend hundreds of miles, challenging Discovery Ski Mountain, 3 nearby golf courses including top-rated, Jack Nicklaus designed, Old Works Golf Course, make the Georgetown Lake area a recreational paradise and one of the most beautiful places in the country.

It is also the perfect family getaway. Leave the computer and video games behind and watch your kids catch their first fish, scream with delight as they come across a moose 4-wheeling to a remote mountain lake, help you build a fire for your camp side dinner, conquer the moguls on a snow board, take to the air kite boarding or quietly watch a grazing herd of elk. Georgetown Lake will create the memories that will last a lifetime.
