This beautiful rustic cottage in the eastern most part of the United States sits just 75 feet from the Bay of Fundy, providing exquisite views of the amazing 30 foot tides. The beach is just a minute walk away from the cottage and can be combed for seashells, sea glass, and if you get too warm, a nice dip in the water is very refreshing. This beautiful cottage is set on 21 acres of forest, expansive apple orchard fields, and over 2,000 feet of private beach to enjoy. The downtown Lubec restaurants serve only the most delicious fresh local cuisine in the classic New England ambiance. You can also find fishing charters, whale watching tour boats, and kayak adventures downtown and in surrounding towns. Popular attractions in the area include scenic and eccentric Eastport, historic Machiasport home of the first naval battle, and the popular tourist destination Bar Harbor. If you are looking for a private getaway with outdoor adventures and fine dining, come and enjoy the Loon's Nest.
Secluded end of the road property. we were looking for an out of the way place and this was perfect. At low tide you can explore the whole peninsula. The house was fine and the bed was extremely comfortable. There are old Apple trees on the property where we could watch the deer.
There are several restaurants in the area that have local seafood. There is a beautiful ocean
side hiking trail in Quoddy head state park which is nearby. We were very pleased with the cabin and location and look forward to spending another vacation there! We visited for a week in the summer of 2013. If your looking for a fancy pampered place this is not it. If your looking for an adventure in a gorgeous private location, you will not be disappointed!!! Pat Dorr, Crown Point, NY
The cottage was charming located in a very private and beautiful location. The reversing falls across the bay in Perry could be heard roaring ! The surrounding area was overgrown and appeared to have had trails there years before, but we found some clearings to get down to the rocks near the water. There were no cleared trails to follow.
The cabin was nice, but needed some cleaning when we opened the windows. there were lots of dead flies that had been there for some time. Also , you may need extra towels,dishcloths/towels, lobster picks/crackers and a couple of blankets. I purchased a few things but the cabin still needs the above mentioned items. Also no cell phone service, the manager told us we could use the phone to call anywhere but the phone was limited to only the local area. The telephone number was not listed anywhere so we could at least relay this number to family but the manager did not call back with the cottage's number. One night I had to contact home , and had to drive to Machias (approx. 30 miles) to use my cell phone.
The cottage has no local information - for those who are not familiar with the area. The Sat TV had trouble and the DVD did not work at all. Bring movies, games and books. Their supply is limited.
The area is beautiful , and quiet ! The cabin is so very charming and with some more amenities and care it would be great !
I hope this helps, I'm from Bar Harbor and this time of year it was great to get away from the busy island, unfortunately we had some problems with the management , and we will not rent this property again.
This beautiful rustic cottage is located in one of the most beautiful and private locations in Downeast Maine. Stunning sunsets reflect off of the ocean that is just 75 feet from your window.
