This beautiful rustic cottage in the eastern most part of the United States sits just 75 feet from the Bay of Fundy, providing exquisite views of the amazing 30 foot tides. The beach is just a minute walk away from the cottage and can be combed for seashells, sea glass, and if you get too warm, a nice dip in the water is very refreshing. This beautiful cottage is set on 21 acres of forest, expansive apple orchard fields, and over 2,000 feet of private beach to enjoy. The downtown Lubec restaurants serve only the most delicious fresh local cuisine in the classic New England ambiance. You can also find fishing charters, whale watching tour boats, and kayak adventures downtown and in surrounding towns. Popular attractions in the area include scenic and eccentric Eastport, historic Machiasport home of the first naval battle, and the popular tourist destination Bar Harbor. If you are looking for a private getaway with outdoor adventures and fine dining, come and enjoy the Loon's Nest.

absolutely gorgeous location!

  • 5 of 5

Secluded end of the road property. we were looking for an out of the way place and this was perfect. At low tide you can explore the whole peninsula. The house was fine and the bed was extremely comfortable. There are old Apple trees on the property where we could watch the deer.

There are several restaurants in the area that have local seafood. There is a beautiful ocean

side hiking trail in Quoddy head state park which is nearby. We were very pleased with the cabin and location and look forward to spending another vacation there! We visited for a week in the summer of 2013. If your looking for a fancy pampered place this is not it. If your looking for an adventure in a gorgeous private location, you will not be disappointed!!! Pat Dorr, Crown Point, NY

Rustic Cottage in Lubec

  • 1 of 5

The cottage was charming located in a very private and beautiful location. The reversing falls across the bay in Perry could be heard roaring ! The surrounding area was overgrown and appeared to have had trails there years before, but we found some clearings to get down to the rocks near the water. There were no cleared trails to follow.

The cabin was nice, but needed some cleaning when we opened the windows. there were lots of dead flies that had been there for some time. Also , you may need extra towels,dishcloths/towels, lobster picks/crackers and a couple of blankets. I purchased a few things but the cabin still needs the above mentioned items. Also no cell phone service, the manager told us we could use the phone to call anywhere but the phone was limited to only the local area. The telephone number was not listed anywhere so we could at least relay this number to family but the manager did not call back with the cottage's number. One night I had to contact home , and had to drive to Machias (approx. 30 miles) to use my cell phone.

The cottage has no local information - for those who are not familiar with the area. The Sat TV had trouble and the DVD did not work at all. Bring movies, games and books. Their supply is limited.

The area is beautiful , and quiet ! The cabin is so very charming and with some more amenities and care it would be great !

I hope this helps, I'm from Bar Harbor and this time of year it was great to get away from the busy island, unfortunately we had some problems with the management , and we will not rent this property again.

Owner's Response: The review from this renter was written in response to them being unable to book the following week at this beautiful cottage. They had unfortunately called us after another family had booked the cottage, which apparently had irritated the renters. The trails on the property are roughly cut, and do need to be cleared, however the main trail to the water is clearly visible. As for the flies, unfortunately this is the time of year when they are out and about...the cabin was cleaned and inspected the night prior to the renters checking in and looked wonderful. As for extra towels, this renter had only used two; the extras were untouched, as is the same with dish cloths. This house is owned by a lobster loving family of four and has plenty of lobster eating tools, not to mention any cooking tool you can imagine. We have had no cell phone service problems there; in fact, the renters had actually gotten lost and had called us for directions when they were approximately five miles away from the cottage. We are confused as to why they drove so far to find cell phone service. The renters had also called us concerning the long distance and we did in fact return their phone call and answer their questions. I can see that the DVD player could be mildly difficult for the technically challenged, however the owners granddaughter operates it no problem, along with the satellite. Unfortunately you cannot please everyone, and we hope that this whale of a tale does not detour anyone from visiting this private beach front getaway from it all. Please give us a call with any questions.
