80+ years ago when this log cabin was originally built, hundreds of cabins dotted the lake shore and surrounding mountains, but today, this historic building is the only such family cabin on Clearlake that you can rent to relive that backwoods experience. Located on a five acre private resort in secluded honeymoon cove.
Our Family Cabin was quite large for cabins built in it's day, and includes three rooms. The front room is a large open dining room and living room with a Murphy bed hidden in the wall. On the right is kitchen, updated a bit but still rather vintage. In the back is a large bedroom with both a sofabed and another Murphy bed that comes down from the wall. Both rooms have lake views and connect to a bathroom with a claw foot tub.
Ideal for small children as the lake has a gradual entry into the lake and they don't have to dive off a dock or wall to get into the water.
I purchased honeymoon cove resort as a friends and family weekend retreat in 1970, and last year, I retired and built my dream house on one end of this six-acre property and now live up here full time. I have maintained three of the original cabins, updated a bit, mostly for guests who have been coming up here for many years.
Ron Rosberg purchased this cabin in 1970
I originally wanted to buy a home, and never dreamed that honeymoon cove resort would be for sale, but the original owner was getting up in years and told me he wanted to sell. Honeymoon cove is THE most secluded and beautiful place on Clearlake, directly across the Mt Konocti, the absolute best view on the the lake.
As I write this, I realize that I haven't seen a boat out my window in over an hour. The lake is calm and just a few birds dot the clear blue sky. Konocti Harbor Inn across the lake is between owners right now, so while there are no amphitheater concerts on the weekend right now, there are also no jet skis out on the lake today. It is like owning your own private lake with a 100 miles of shoreline.
It wasn’t until we were leaving to return home that I realized my 13 year old son was right, “We needed this trip”! 4 days and 3 nights went by in what felt like a day and a half. Our family of four and puppy had a great stay in cabin #2. The lodging was rustic and modern at the same time. Although the internet & TV were available, the TV never came on as we had so much more to do on our private beach and boat dock.
My son caught the first fish of the week, a 2 pound bass right off the dock within the first hour of fishing. The secluded cove provided a peaceful fishing spot where you’ll see many fish jumping out of the water to taunt you. After renting a ski boat we were able to pull up to our private dock for lunch before heading out for water skiing. That was very cool.
The service provided left us with nothing to ask for. The entire team from the owner Ron, Ray and Susan to Cinnamon all went the extra mile to be helpful, warm and accommodating.
My family will keep your team in our prayers through the fire season and we look forward to returning next year!
During our two day visit to Clearlake, our young family of three, we stayed at the rustic cabin with lake front view and steps away from the lake shore. Ron along with Susan and Ray were very accommodating, helpful, and most hospitable. The cabin has a rustic feel with the 1930s structure. The place was fully functional, clean equipped with all the essentials including cutlery, linens, furniture, murphy beds. Susan and Ray were available either over the phone or in person at a moment's notice if we had any questions or needed some help. The property had a play structure downstairs where our three year old enjoyed playing. The garden area is well kept. All of us enjoyed going paddling in the lake. The water was refreshing and clean for a quick dip. The lake being so close was wonderful. The dock was great to just sit and view the lake and Mount Konocti. The place has high-speed wifi, BBQ with each cabin & is a gated property. The cabin is has trees and nature around so some bugs etc are expected, but indoors it is fairly bug free
We had a fantastic time. The surrounding are serene. Alot of privacy. The accommodations were great and my family had a ball! The Rustic Cabin is a little warm so I suggest bringing an extra fan. We loved the private beach and the property manager has the cutest dogs.
Ps: Make sure you book a movie night in the theater!
We stayed in the apartment for 2 people and loved it! It not only has a very nice kitchen but also a king size bed and a terrific attached bathroom with a hot tub and shower. The whole unit is tastefully furnished and equipped with high end technology. There are 5 windows in the bedroom with a view on the lake. The owner and manager of this place are very nice! They helped finding the way and were very helpful which made us feel very welcome! We can absolutely recommend this place!
We stayed at Honeymoon Cove in the 1930's cabin from June 21, 2012 and checked out June 29, 2012. The cabin is clean, rustic and has a BEAUTIFUL view of the lake! I could not believe we were so close to the lake (basically ON the lake) and that we had the lakefront to OURSELVES! It was like being at our own private lake! The resort grounds have many places to sit and relax and watch the sunset or rise. The water fowl are beautiful to watch as well as the little lake-otter that calls Honeymoon Cove his home! The managers Cliff & Kelly addressed any concerns we had quickly. They were friendly and polite but not intrusive. My kids loved tubing behind our bass boat and each morning & evening my husband and 13 year old went fishing. We loved the boat ride across the lake where we docked and enjoyed a burger and fries with the kids! We felt safe as the resort is gated and very private. This was an awesome vacation to relax, enjoy the water and spend time with the family! We will be back next summer!
The property is great condition and it is very relaxing. The new managers are wonderful with very good attitudes. They were friendly and were very concerned with my family's daily needs. They were around when needed but, still offered family privacy. We have been going to honeymoon cove for the last 10 years and have always had a awesome time.
Located directly across the lake from Konocti Harbor Inn with an indoor music arena for 1000 and outdoor amphitheater seating 5000 people, attracting numbers headliner acts. We used to hear the music from our beach when it was in operation.
We are hoping it will return soon.
