About Richard D
We moved to Galveston from the DFW area in 2005. Started buying and remodeling homes for vacation rentals in 2007. We fell in love with Galveston and all the people on the Island. We have very much enjoyed sharing our homes with guests coming for a visit to Galveston.
Richard D purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Richard D chose San Jacinto
The home is in a perfect location. Central to everything on the Island. It is a short walk to the beaches, and about 1/2 mile to the new Pleasure Pier.

We love this property! That's why we keep coming back. Awesome place!
Cute, Quaint, and lovely
From the moment we pulled in the drive, we could see this was not going to be the typical "Hotel and beach" type of vacation.
The house was neat as a pin, and had everything we could have asked for!
High ceilings, ceiling fans in every room, a roomy kitchen, comfy beds, hard floors (both tile and wood), enough room for us to spread out and recover from the beach without stumbling over each other, but still with enough room for us to cluster and share our day over a glass of wine.
Great decor. Very "beach-y"!
There is plenty enough room to sleep 6-9 people.
And while I have read a few reviews complaining about the AC, the combination of the AC and fans was more than adequate for a mid-day cool down.
All we really needed were our food and drinks!
Richard, the property manager, was SUPER helpful and very responsive to my inquiries, as well as helping us move our dates when a tropical depression rained out our first planned visit.
I can't say enough about this property or our experience. It's one we will be talking about for a good, long while.
The only down-side to the entire trip was that, due to height restrictions, my truck wouldn't fit in the garage, but the neighborhood felt safe enough to leave it in the driveway (or on the street) overnight with no concerns.
If you are going to Galveston Island, this is the place to stay! We loved it!
If you are looking for seafood, Fish Tails is the go-to; though there are a couple dozen other restaurants along Seawall blvd. and we did our best to try them all!
Great beach cottage!
My three adult boys and I recently vacationed in this awesome, clean, well- maintained, and whimsically decorated beach cottage. Richard, the owner, was very accommodating, and kept in contact to make sure everything was acceptable. We hope to return to Galveston next summer, and definitely want to stay at this exact location! Five stars from us!!
House was perfectly suited for a family vacation. Proximity to beach and the pier was amazing.
Unfortunately not the best stay due to air conditioning problems.
Nice home, needs work in many areas. A decluttering would help.
Needs window units for when the air is not working correctly or portable heaters if there is no heat.
Owner gave a small refund for our stay due to his air conditioning going out and did offer to move us.
We chose not to move at a 4pm on 10-14-18 do to it being our anniversary and we had plans that evening. Plus, we would be departing in a day and half.
I know my review is based on our stay.
Out of 8 days we had little to zero air for 5 days. We noticed the air was not working well when we got there. A very poor system for a split level home. Needs some window units as a back up system.
We decided to be troopers and ride it out . Our anniversary trip went well . This was the only downside to the entire trip. So I’m not complaining.... it’s just our unfortunate experience and those things happen.
Richard was very understanding about the situation and had fans sent over. Thank you!
I think for the normal stay in this home is perfect for most. Lots of beds. A TV downstairs might be helpful in that master bedroom . The patio furniture needs a clean up.
If you have any small children or elderly people with any walking issues the spiral staircase could be an issue. Be careful!
The house is well furnished. Some very nice art. Maybe needs a deeper cleaning in some areas. More kitchen soap and toilet paper products would be helpful. I bring a lot from home, so we were ok.
Richard we appreciate the small refund and you working with us. We tried not to complain about the unfortunate timing of the air conditioning problem.
We know things happen.
I would suggest travelers to ask lots of questions about any property you choose to rent. Above anything please enjoy the beauty of Galveston! Many amazing restaurants and the beach of course, is lovely. Be safe and enjoy!
Always beware of your surroundings and watch your children and pets for animals that aren’t on a leash. I go to Galveston 2 to 3 times a year for the last 23 years, so I’m very acquainted with this little paradise.
We absolutely loved it. We were a group of 10 all ages. The home was roomy, comfortable and clean. Everything you need. We also brought our dog. Beach was two blocks down. Everything was within walking distance. We will be returning.
Check in is 4pm, check out is 11am......but ask because it could be a sooner check in and check out earlier.
SCAM ALERT: We do not advertise on Craigslist, nor do we accept cashiers checks.
