About Ross W

We moved to Galveston from the DFW area in 2005. Started buying and remodeling homes for vacation rentals in 2007. We fell in love with Galveston and all the people on the Island. We have very much enjoyed sharing our homes with guests coming for a visit to Galveston.

Ross W purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Ross W chose Galveston

The home is in a perfect location. Central to everything on the Island. It is a short walk to the beaches, and about 1/2 mile to the new Pleasure Pier.

We had a blast- great for family or friends gathering

  • 4 of 5

I would first like to say I am a real reviewer and stayed at the home mid March 2017. I paid for the property rental and THEN read some reviews that were disturbing. I called the owner about my concerns and he assured me that the home was NOT like the last post indicated. I reluctantly went ahead with the rental. THERE WERE NO ISSUES. Believe me I searched for "crime scene like stains" trash and unclean places as the review indicated. There were no such issue. The home is old but did not feel old given the updates that had been done. The place was great for my crew of 10. Ample bedding, fun nook of beds perfect for my crew of teens. Remodeled kitchen, TV amenities with cable. 2 bathrooms- one renovated. So much space in the home for all of us to move about without tripping over each other. We had nice meals on the patio and enjoyed the short walk to the beach daily. There were board games and books. No one had a dull moment. The house was just as mentioned in the preview. To those that are looking for the Ritz Carlton- please go there. Dolphin's Run was great for a girlfriends gathering, a family trip or a weekend away. One of our guests intends to rent it again soon.

Pay attention to reviews; the 2015 one was right on

  • 1 of 5

Good things first - location; plenty of luggage racks; downstairs (no TV)

From the dangerous, needing-to--be-replaced--long-ago front steps, to the littered back yard, this house was a HUGE disappointment! We could tell from the pictures how ugly and dark it was but not how DIRTY it was! Carpets were so filthy (those on top and those underneath), I kept socks on. Bar stool seats covered with spots; furniture in back bedroom filthy. Couldn't even think about using the kitchen and opted to rely on "solo cups" for needed water. Every surface on main upper floor needed cleaning, painting, repair. Back deck FULL of furniture, some broken. Back yard littered with cans, trash and slats in fence missing. Just totally neglected.....and, so sad as this 100-year old house has great "bones" and could be wonderful. Shame on the owners!

Owner's Response: Good afternoon, I am sorry you found the home, not to your liking. I can yes say, we have made repairs to the front steps. The back yard should have been cleaned by our yard man or house keeper. I have reminded them of this. The home is professionally cleaned after every guest. The carpets are cleaned every 3 months or sooner if need be. The home is not dark unless you fail to open the blinds. I replace the chairs when they are broken so that 1 chair is already gone. The dishes in the kitchen are clean and are checked by the cleaning staff and myself on a regular basis. I will say, however, that I am sorry I cannot please each guest, but I try my best. Thank You! Loved our stay

  • 4 of 5

The property was perfect for our family. I completely understand that it was a remodel but it was great. My kids did get locked in the upstairs bathroom from time to time (the door sticks) but other than that it was great.

Like I said we are already looking at the summer date openings to book another stay. For us it's location was perfect.

I also really enjoyed and was impressed by your response time via text messaging. I read another one of your reviews and they said the same thing so that is how I knew to text for a quicker response.
