We have rented this house for 4 years in a row on labor day weekend this will be our last year. We were disappointed to find the main bathroom was dirty the drain was plugged up,a futon was broken with a note left on it ,a bunk bed was broken. There were black ants all over the house.
The Platitudes offers a very scenic, peaceful setting. A perfect spot for a fun get-away with friends and family. Spent a couple days here, but the memories will last a lifetime.
In early Aug. three generations of our family from Michigan, Illinois, California, and Washington gathered at your cottage on the Platte River. What a perfect setting for relaxing together with the decks overlooking the river, the hammocks and the fire pit. The high point was being able to enjoy your kayaks, tubes and canoes on the river. Thanks for the trailer provided for transporting them upstream. The cottage was set up great with plenty of room for 16 of us. The kitchen was more than adequately supplied with everything we needed. Thanks for providing such a great place to create lasting family memories. After leaving the cottage we spent time overnight on South Manitou Island.
Our family of 18 stayed at this beautiful place overlooking the Platte river. The location was perfect for us. Within walking distance of the heart of Honor but secluded at the end of a narrow sandy road. Close to Sleeping Bear dunes and Traverse city were easy day trips. The river was enjoyed by everyone. Perfect for floating, kayaking and just sitting in a chair or tube by the banks. The home is lovingly maintained and has most features and conveniences we could want or need. The owners are wonderful and very helpful. Erik was very attentive and receptive to our needs. The house is big enough that we never felt crowded except at mealtime when everyone was at the "buffet line" in the kitchen. Considering how many we were it was to be expected. Evening fires by the river were enjoyable. Plenty of level grassy spots to sit and enjoy the scenery and each others company.
Our negatives were few. Deck chairs in need of new webbing and an uncomfortable mattress were the only complaints we had. That and our time passed by too quickly and our stay their ended too soon
By far the best place we have ever rented using HomeAway.
This was our second annual family vacation. We chose Plattitudes for it's location to the Sleeping Bear area, it's proximity to water, and the space available. The photos online were very accurate. There were eight adults and five children and we never felt cramped or too close. The house is roomy and comfortable. We cooked and ate breakfast and dinner each day, and made use of the kayaks and tubes available. Our favorite evening activity was the fire pit, and seeing the stars every night was breath taking! This was a very relaxing time for us and we appreciate all the amenities that Plattitudes had to offer. Our breakfast on the last day was at Crystal Café. A little drive, but delicious! Thank you Erik, it was a family vacation to remember! We were in agreement to reserve again next year.
The property was great. The air condition did not work, so the upstairs was very hot for sleeping. There were some bugs in the basement already so we didn't want to leave too much open over night. The beds were all comfortable but the futons were not good. Other than the bugs in the basement the house was very clean and well stocked with everything you need. I have suggested this place to a friend already but suggested she insist on getting the air to work and the bugs taken care of if they plan to go in the summer.
Unfortunately we didn't know to bring a hitch, because of this we didn't get to use the kayaks. We did have a blast with the tubes. The older ones started about an hour from the property and the younger ones would take the tubes up a ways and ride to the house or ride to the swimming hole.
On the Platte River with exceptional access to 250' of frontage, listen to the water flow by from the living room.
Fishing out the back door (check the regs, some special)
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore just minutes away.
Crystal Mountain Resort down the road a short drive.
