Excellent for family vacations or a relaxing getaway!! This spacious home is surrounded with the natural beauty of island living, yet it's only 10 minutes from historic downtown Charleston. It's also just an earshot of the ocean's pounding waves (1 mile from Folly Beach). The custom design affords an unrestricted view of its natural habitat on deep water and surrounding wildlife. Bring your camera! You can't get any closer to nature than this! Wading egrets, diving pelicans and passing dolphins are frequently seen here. Also enjoy use of the dock for fishing and crabbing.
The island's sole thoroughfare is ideal for walking, jogging or biking. Kayaking lessons are available on the island along with equipment rentals. Para-sailing and sightseeing tours by boat are also available. This home is equipped with all modern living facilities. Linens, bedding, cooking utensils and paper products are included. Gas grill is also available for a small fee to cover gas use and cleaning.
Travel by boat to Kiawah and Seabrook Island in just minutes.
**Please note that the home has an occupied 'mother-in-law' suite that is fully equipped with its own household amenities and separate side entrance. This portion of the home is not accessible to vacationing renters. However, all of the rooms listed here as photos or in the description ARE included in the vacation rental. The home's total living space is ~4800sqft
The house and grounds was in much need of TLC and updating...not quite what was shown in pictures, still we had a good time. Fishing off the dock was excellent. We caught many stingrays, blue crabs and even an eel. This is in a superb location, extremely close to Folly and just a short drive into Charleston.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this property. The booking process was easy and the home owner/manager was easy to contact and responded quickly to my emails. The home is large with plenty of room for the 7 of us. There are a lot of steps throughout the home. The steps going to the upstairs bedrooms are a little odd in size and there are steps to go down to the living room/dining room/sun room. Not a problem at all for us but something to be aware of when booking. Loved that the master bedroom was on the main level of the home. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed to cook a nice dinner one of the nights we were there and all the linens were supplied and very clean. The sun room and dock was a nice place to view the marsh and sun rising when we first woke up. We met the caretaker outside when we first got there and he was very friendly and assured us if we needed anything to let him know. Other then that first meeting we never saw or heard him again. You would never know anyone else lived in this house if the listing did not tell you. The door to his side is locked from both sides so you can feel comfortable and safe. There is plenty of parking here and in a great location to Folly and downtown Charleston. We would like to have seen a little something more done with the landscaping around the house and it needs a good power washing. We stayed the beginning of April and something other then the stale winter look when we pulled into the driveway would have been nice.
The kitchen has everything you will need.
The master bed is king and is very comfortable.
The sun room was very nice as the weather wasn't beautiful for our stay so we really enjoyed the sun room.
You will need to bring bug spray as the nats were pretty bad but that's to be expected near the marsh land.
If you are bothered by the caretakers living in the attached mother in law suite don't be. We never heard them and only saw them twice.
You will have lots of restaurants to choose from we always have to go to the Tattooed Moose at least once. If you go try the Duck sandwich and the fries are enough for 2.
Designated to host a get together for a best friend soon to be married . I was in search of a really nice home that could accommodate our needs. This property was wonderful! Very spacious with amazing views of the water out back. Needless to say we had a terrific weekend. Loved It! My friends can't stop talking about it. This home can truly be a place for special memories for you as well. The property manager was detailed and very accessible.
The home is very nice. It's super spacious, the view out the back is pretty. The beds were very comfortable. As stated in the description, part of the home is used as the caretaker's residence. There is a locked door which leads from the caretaker's part of the home to the rental part of the home. Although somewhat unnerving, this was not a problem at all. We did not see or hear anything from the caretaker the 3 nights we were there. The location worked well for us as it's only about 10 minutes to downtown Charleston.
We were very satisfied with the house, furnishings, amenities, and especially the view of the wetlands. The setting overlooking the water was classic and captured the flavor of coastal living. There were 3 couples who have been friends since college staying in the house for 5 nights and we all had very nice rooms and accommodations. The house provided many areas for "alone" time as well as all of us eating, playing cards, watching TV, cooking dinners together etc. Nice location - easy to navigate the roadways and a quick drive to downtown Charleston and other local sites.
