Our family have been renting the crown Jewel for the past 6 years and we have no plans of stopping our yearly treck. The house is roomy with king size beds in 3 of the 4 bedrooms and a queen in the 4th bedroom or loft. All the beds are oh so cozy. The master bedroom has a spectacular ocean view. The living area, dining and kitchen has a great view of the ocean as well. The kitchen is well stocked with 2 refrigerators. Our yearly stays always include a day of kite flying as well as adventures in Monterey, Moss Landing and the Santa Cruz area. The owners are pleasant and easy to work with. I recommend the crown jewel to anyone who loves watching the ocean. Have enjoyed the wildlife which includes dolfins, seals, as well as whales this past trip.
Liz and her husband went above and beyond to see that our trip went wonderfully! When I booked it I didn't realize there was no air conditioning as some in our party are used to having AC, but AC IS NOT NEEDED! Most places on the coast do not have AC and I can see why! There are virtually no bugs and with the windows open it gets quite cool! Great stay, great people! Will hopefully go back someday! Thanks, Liz!!!
This place really is a jewel--we stayed for 3 nights with 7 adults and 2 teenagers. The house couldn't possibly be closer to the ocean--you can see dolphins, shorebirds, and seabirds from the windows even without binoculars, and you can hear the crashing surf. The back door invites walks on the beach at any moment, any time of day. The dunes are spectacular with colorful plants and are inhabited by songbirds. We saw 44 species of birds on or above the dunes, beach, and ocean. The beach was strewn with more sand dollars than I've seen in a lifetime. One morning, we saw a sea lion pup on the beach right outside the house (without its mother, unfortunately; it stayed a few minutes, then swam back out to sea). We visited in mid-February and were often the only people on the entire beach. The highlight of our trip was kayaking in Elkhorn Slough (we rented from Monterey Bay Kayaks)--spectacular views of sea otters, seals, sea lions, and pelicans flying so close it felt like we could reach out and touch them. We also had a wonderful time in the house--it is spacious, clean, comfortable, and luxurious, and well equipped for cooking, barbecuing, and eating all together. The kids enjoyed biking down the road and playing tennis. Our whole stay was a wonderful and memorable family getaway, surrounded by beauty!
Wow, did we luck out in finding this place for our extra long weekend with east coast family visiting. 6 adults and two kids stayed here quite comfortably. The location is fantastic beachfront goodness! You feel like you are away from it all, and can really enjoy the beach, big family meals and gorgeous stars at night. Yet you are a short drive to Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carmel etc. The house is cozy and well appointed, this is possibly the first time I have ever stayed at a rental and had everything I needed in the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. The grandparents stayed in the lower bedroom and two couples and two kids upstairs...great space for us all to spread out. Super comfy beds and linens, which is always a plus. The views from the wall of windows, and almost every room in the house, is spectacular. Kite flying on beach with a 5 year old and 2 year old was a memory maker. Highchair and pack n play meant I didn't have to haul it from home, yay! We will be back! Thank you!
We travelled from England to visit family in Auburn, CA and booked this holiday home for a few nights to go to Monterey aquarium. As soon as we entered the house we were completely in awe of the amazing views of the beach and ocean and would have been quite happy to stay in the house for our entire stay without leaving! The home was great for our family, which includes 3 children of 2,10 and 13. We found it well equipped and the children were pleased to see games and plenty of outdoor toys (not that we had time to enjoy them as we were too busy beach-combing and watching the ocean). We loved to watch the pelicans flying past and on our last morning we saw dolphins jumping in the ocean right in front of the house. It was an incredible experience and one that we will never forget. We took amazing photos of the dolphins and the sunsets were incredible too. Luckily the weather was warm and we enjoyed evening strolls along the beach and paddling in the water during the daytime. We would love to return next year and spend longer and have already recommended the house to friends who will be visiting next year. Communication with Bill and Nancy was very friendly and I must congratulate them on their gorgeous home. They really had thought of everything needed by a family for the perfect stay.
Thanks for an amazing stay and many wonderful memories.

My family of 6 and I attended a wedding in Monterey and had the absolute joy of staying here. I was nervous at first because of the ammount of people that we had but upon arrival all of my fears melted away. From the moment I pulled thru the security gate and as we drove thru the winding roads we knew we were somewhere special. The home is VERY spacious and the accomodations were outstanding. What I enjoyed the most is how they incorporated the beach house decor with simplicity yet extreme comfort. I had the pleasure of staying in the master bedroom with practically 180 degree views of the ocean, breathtaking to say the least. Best sleep I have ever experienced, hands down. I would have to recommend this home for a variety of reasons. From the initial contact with the leasing agent (Elizabeth) and how professional and accurate she was to the cleanliness and comfort of the home. I sincerly couldn't have asked for more. Thank you and I hope to stay with you again soon and for years to come!
