About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, (Sleeps 5)+ other (See Description)

Stowe Mountain Lodge is at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort, in the Town of Stowe, Vermont. We have a spacious ONE BEDROOM condominium. We have a SEPARATE BEDROOM with a door that features a king-sized bed. Note that most of the units at SML are studio units which have a standard single-room hotel configuration. Ours is one of the few true one bedroom units available outside of the hotel rental program. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room that will acomodate two guests; we also have a portable mattress that will accommodate a third person. Note that our unit can accommodate five guests (vs. 4 in a standard SML hotel room) and we include daily valet parking which is $23/day if you rent from the lodge. We offer our unit at a significant discount because you will rent directly from the owner and not the developer rental pool. You have access to all amenities and features of Stowe Mountain Lodge including the pool, spa, room service and restaurants. Our unit is in the main building (North Tower) and is convenient to the lobby, restaurants and ski/recreation valet.

Great Unit at the Stowe Mountain Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Stowe Mountain Lodge – unit 227. The unit was very nice and spacious. The living area is great for relaxing on the couch, which also serves as a comfortable sleeper sofa – the owner provides a Tempur-Pedic mattress topper for extra comfort. There is a TV mounted above the gas fireplace in the living room, and a similar TV in the bedroom. The bedroom features a comfortable king-size bed, desk, and large closet. The owner keeps the kitchen well-stocked with silverware and glassware, coffee beans, and espresso pods for the Nespresso machine. We enjoyed the morning sun from the balcony, which faces mountains to the east and has considerably more privacy than many other unit balconies which face the pool or main entrance.

The booking process was easy, and the staff was very accommodating. Stowe itself was delightful, as always. We enjoyed a short hike to Bingham Falls, and the gondola ride to the top of Mt. Mansfield.

Excellent stay overall – we hope to return to this unit soon!

Best for a couple or a family with a couple very young and small kids

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here with a family of 4 - 2 kids aged 8 and 14. This condo is nice, as previous reviews have stated there is a small kitchen but no seating aside from the couch. Speaking of the couch, it's in extreme need of being replaced as the mattress on it reminded me of my childhood with metal springs from the mattress poking me in the back and the bar across the middle. I thought it'd be fine for my kids but they both complained the next morning. I contacted the owner who was apologetic and provided us with a free night stay. He said his teenage kids sleep on it but I really can't see how that's possible. I asked if they'd purchase a mattress topper to help and he originally said no as they were planning to replace the couch. He then decided to get it but it didn't show while we were there (not sure if he really bought it). In the day and age of Amazon Prime I was disappointed not to have received it while we were there as we stayed 4 nights. My daughter ended up sleeping on the couch with the cushions and my son on the floor on a twin foam pad they had in the condo. Not really what I paid for but it worked for us. The condo faces east so the sun shines right on the patio so in the summer you can't really sit out in the morning on the patio and the patio isn't very large to sit on anyway. Be sure to keep the shades closed all the way if you want to sleep in. The walls are thin as well as we'd hear people talking above us every morning from the master bedroom. Overall I wasn't impressed with the Stowe Mountain Lodge. The kids game room is embarrassing with a total of 2 pay video games and 2 machines to try to win stuff. We stayed at the Woodstock Inn prior to here and their game room was amazing and free with 3 pinball machines, foosball, 2 arcade games and shuffleboard. The pool here was nice but it was kind of trashy. The staff didn't pick up any cups or food trays and they just blew around and into the pool. They actually ran out of plastic cups and towels and a couple days. Not real impressive for a high end resort. If I were to go to Stowe again I'd probably stay at the Trapp Family Lodge. We stopped by there and that place had a lot more activities to do over there. For skiing this place might be the place but I'd only recommend staying here as a couple until they replace the couch or actually have the mattress topper for the couch. This resort definitely isn't a 4 - 5 star resort as shown on Expedia.

Owner's Response: Jeff, I am really disappointed that my condominium and Stowe Mountain Lodge did not meet your expectations. I tried really hard to address your concerns, but despite my best efforts, it apparently wasn't enough. Let me respond to your concerns point by point: -When you contacted me about the sleeper sofa not being comfortable for your children, I felt badly and gave you a refund of one night - effectively a 25% rebate -At your suggestion, I purchased a Tempur-Pedic Mattress Topper Pad. Unfortunately, the mattress pad was delivered to the lodge the day you checked out. It was not available on Amazon Prime. -While I disagree with your characterization of the sofa -- there are, in fact, no metal springs poking you in the back -- I have ordered a new sofa and side chair, so the sofa will never be an issue for future guests; the mattress topper pad will also help. My teenagers have slept on the pull-out couch and have not had issues with it. -I have had hundreds of guests stay at my condominium, not one has ever complained about noise from an adjacent unit. The lodge is well constructed and insulated. You are right: the sun does rise in the east and if you don't close the blinds, the sun will awaken you. - It is a shame that your children did not like the game room. I don't think much of it either. Our kids and most guests prefer to take advantage of the considerable outdoor activities available at Spruce Peak including the kids' adventure center, zip lining and swimming in area waterfalls. - I obviously don't manage the pool, but guests have typically enjoyed the large heated pool and spa, and I have never witnessed the conditions you mention such as a lack of towels and cups. Did you bring this issue to the attention of the pool attendants? Again, I am disappointed you did not enjoy your stay. I did everything possible to address your concerns. I am sorry that my efforts were not enough. Owner

Gorgeous Property

  • 4 of 5

This condo is very well appointed and has everything that you would need for a short stay. The one downfall for us was that it was a bit small for a family of 5.

The condo was as advertised. It was clean and appointed well for a one bedroom unit.

Stowe Mountain Lodge is outstanding. They make everything very convenient from stowing skis, mountain access and food and drink. We would stay again.

Stowe Mountain Lodge Unit 227

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Stowe Mountain Lodge (Unit 227) for a week in July and had a wonderful stay. The property itself is spectacular with a staff that is professional and courteous. The unit was above our expectations- clean and stocked with every possibly item we could need- including an espresso machine- and the bedding was wonderfully soft and luxurious... so much so that I came home and ordered the same set. What impressed us most, however, was how responsive the owner was when we had a small issue. Having never rented through VRBO before we were a bit nervous about how issues would be resolved should one arise. The owner Patrick could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We will without a doubt request Patrick's unit 227 if and when we are in Stowe again.
