Paradise awaits you at this brand new, charming home that sleeps five comfortably. The Master bedroom has a king size bed and a private bathroom, the second bedroom has a queen size bed and access to a shared bathroom, and the small den has a full size sleeper sofa if needed. All rooms have access to the wrap-around lanai that features ceiling fans, hammocks, dining furniture, lounge chairs and a tiki bar. For your grilling pleasure, there is a full sized gas grill on the lanai.
The house has an open feel, with ceiling fans throughout. It has a modern, fully equipped kitchen, featuring stainless steel appliances, a long center island that can accommodate up to six at the breakfast bar in addition to the dining area.
The living room has a 32” flat screen TV, DVD player, satellite tv, and a nice collection of DVD movies.
Forgot to bring your mask and snorkel? No worries! We have some you can use, because a short walk from the house is the best snorkeling on the Big Island - the Wai ’Opae Tide Pools. The offshore reef protects the tide pools from the sometimes-harsh southeastern shores of Hawaii. As you explore the maze of pools, you will find corals, schools of juvenile fish, moray eels, sea urchins, sea turtles, etc… It is like being in an aquarium! When you come home from the tide pools, there is an outside shower you can use to rinse off.
If you are looking for a romantic getaway, or a family looking to spend quality time together, our home offers something for everyone in paradise.

Just wanted you to know that we have enjoyed your beautiful home. And your cleaning person is great. The whole house was very clean when we arrived.
So thanks again. Dianne

This was our third trip to the Big Island and our first staying in Puna. My wife and I fell in love with this corner of the island on our first trip driving down the wild red road (not so red anymore) and are so glad we chose to stay in the area (now with kids in tow) on this last trip back. This trip we split a week between the kohola coast and Puna, and the consensus among our family and those we were traveling with was that the half-week at this house was the highlight of the trip. We were wary that this on the "rainy side" of the island, but all we saw were short-lived isolated showers and certainly didn't have the overcast common in Hilo.
The home is clean and well maintained, in a quiet neighborhood with enough space and greenery between the houses for privacy. It has a nice central layout, open kitchen and wrap around deck. Having no AC was not a problem and the house stayed cool by leaving the windows open. The tide pools were an easy walk away, with the clearest snorkeling on the island. Please be careful not to step on the coral when you go!
We started planning our next trip back as soon as we left!
What a lovely stay we had at Walea Hale. The house was just what I wanted for our stay in the Kapoho area. We had plans to see the lava flow by bike and boat and this was a perfect location for our adventures. I have snorkeled in the tide pools on previous occasions but what a treat to be walking distance. This is one of my favorite spots in the islands by far! The property manager was very accommodating calling to let us know we could get into the house early. This made it easy to go grocery shopping on the way to the house. We highly recommend Lava Ocean Tours if you want to see the lava ocean entry. They launch right down the road at Isaac Hale Beach Park. It made getting up for the sunrise easy vice a drive from Hilo. We really enjoyed relaxing in the house, wandering the neighborhood up to Champagne Pond, tidepool snorkeling. It's also easy to get to Pahoa for dinner and the market. The only downside was the winds were coming inland and caused our bike/hike tour to be cancelled two nights in a row. Se we need to come back!
This house was really nice, we had our children and parents on the trip for a total of 6 people. There was ample room for us all and we were able to take a nice break from the crowded hotel resport locations, cooking our own meals in a very nice kitchen, doing laundry, and felt at home. We really enjoyed the black sand beach and snorkeling, plus the lush jungle surroundings. The house provides all the snorkeling gear needed. Close to the volcanos National Park, but next to the ocean. Next time we would stay longer.
This home was exactly what we were hoping for during our Christmas vacation. It was perfect for us and two teenage daughters. We stayed in the master bedroom and our girls in the other. We had everything we needed to cook breakfast on Christmas morning and open presents in the living room. It was really nice having access to the snorkeling and boogie board equipment and used it a few times going to the tidal pools. It was nice to have the outdoor shower area in back to rinse off and a bonus that it was heated. The fish were fantastic to view in the pools and saw crabs, urchin and even an eel. The location was perfect for us since most of our activities (volcanoes, green & black sand beaches, southern tip) were on the Hilo side. It was a pain getting to the Kona side (they were working on the road for a few miles on the north route), but still worth staying there. The lanai was great and we wished we had more time to just hang out in the two hammocks and cook out on the grill. We would definitely recommend this quiet getaway for any family.
The visitor's information book provided was our 'Bible'. It has all the information to keep you as busy as you want to be - if you can drag yourself away from the sights & sounds of the lanai. We were only 2 people here by choice, but the home can comfortably accommodate 2 couples or a family of 6. Being so close to the tide pools was a plus. We brought our own snorkle gear, but no need to because there is a store room of beach & snorkle gear to fit all sizes. Our only complaint is that we did not book enough days to really enjoy all that this home & area has to offer. Other than the tide pools within a short walk, an activity mot to miss is the lava tour. Hours are from 3 - 9 for bike rentals ($20), but you can hike or bike in & out any time for free by walking or using your own bike. It's a nine mile trek round trip, so schedule your time accordingly. Plan to.be at the lava viewing area a little before sundown & beyond. Seeing the lava flow into the ocean becomes even more spectacular after dark. It's an awesome event. It can be an exhaustive activity, but coming home to Walea Hale will soothe your aches!
Perfect home for a relaxing holiday. A lovely house, a *wonderful* lanai with incredibly comfortable lounge chairs, chairs and hammocks giving a view of the ocean, and a closet full of reef shoes, snorkeling equipment, beach mats etc. for visitors. Neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Our family had a fabulous visit. Highly recommended
A short walk to the Wai'Opae tide pools, 15 min to the town of Pahoa, 5 min to the thermal ponds, 10 min to boat launch and surf beach, 1 hour to Volcanoes National Park.
