Paradise awaits you at this brand new, charming home that sleeps five comfortably. The Master bedroom has a king size bed and a private bathroom, the second bedroom has a queen size bed and access to a shared bathroom, and the small den has a full size sleeper sofa if needed. All rooms have access to the wrap-around lanai that features ceiling fans, hammocks, dining furniture, lounge chairs and a tiki bar. For your grilling pleasure, there is a full sized gas grill on the lanai.
The house has an open feel, with ceiling fans throughout. It has a modern, fully equipped kitchen, featuring stainless steel appliances, a long center island that can accommodate up to six at the breakfast bar in addition to the dining area.
The living room has a 32” flat screen TV, DVD player, satellite tv, and a nice collection of DVD movies.
Forgot to bring your mask and snorkel? No worries! We have some you can use, because a short walk from the house is the best snorkeling on the Big Island - the Wai ’Opae Tide Pools. The offshore reef protects the tide pools from the sometimes-harsh southeastern shores of Hawaii. As you explore the maze of pools, you will find corals, schools of juvenile fish, moray eels, sea urchins, sea turtles, etc… It is like being in an aquarium! When you come home from the tide pools, there is an outside shower you can use to rinse off.
If you are looking for a romantic getaway, or a family looking to spend quality time together, our home offers something for everyone in paradise.

Just wanted you to know that we have enjoyed your beautiful home. And your cleaning person is great. The whole house was very clean when we arrived.
So thanks again. Dianne

We come for the snorkeling and so far we have seen over 20 different fish and a turtle. First time I have seen a yellow tang on this side of the Island and although they are not rare, they and the parrotfish are favorites of mine. Locals pointed out a bright yellow frog fish. A great home to share with 2 families as there is lots of space with 2 well appointed bedrooms and baths. Lots of seating on the spacious back deck and 2 hammocks. Still haven't watched any of the large selection of movies - next year perhaps. Any problems and Lloyd is willing and ready to assist. We seem to always have problems figuring out a new tv. Lots of snorkeling gear so no need to bring your own. Great house and great location.
I rented this house for my brother's family after having stayed in it in 2014 for 3 weeks. It is a lovely house with a nice partial ocean view and an easy walk to the tide pools. Lisa and her local manager Lloyd are both great to deal with.
Thank you for sharing your house with us. It was gorgeous, comfortable and relaxing stay. You took care of every little detail and we appreciated that greatly. From the gorgeous fresh flowers right on the lanai and more in the house to the very detailed list of all the movies in your library including a short synopsis! WOW. We had a great time exploring Paho area, snorkeling in the sometimes very eery but fascinating tide pools and visiting the rest of the big island. In the evening we enjoyed falling asleep to the local bird songs. The local Cajun Paradise farm, only a short stop away, was a bonus with tasty fresh fruit smoothies!
If you're looking to immerse yourself in quiet awe-inspiring solitude, this is the place. The house and its owner Liza could not be more accommodating. Liza went above and beyond to ensure everything during our stay was to our liking---fabulous!
The house has an ideal layout for 2 couples, with rooms at opposite corners from each other and large private bathrooms. It has all the comforts of home, and then some.
The location is terrific for those who love to swim, with. 3 wonderful options (2 within walking distance and 1 a short drive away).. The area is very secluded and verdant, and the locals we encountered were friendly and welcoming.
It was roughly 40 minutes to fabulous Hilo, so one needs to be organized with their grocery and personal requirements as the stores are relatively distant---15 minutes to the nearest milk at Long's Drugs..
We felt blessed each day here to be surrounded by God's handiwork. The natural scenery is beautiful, and the sense of serenity and peace was tangible. You will be replenished by the location, and the house is an oasis of relaxation. Thanks for making your home available to us, Liza. It's a superb spot to sit back and soak in the tranquility of the luscious jungle life.
This was our third trip to the Big Island and our first staying in Puna. My wife and I fell in love with this corner of the island on our first trip driving down the wild red road (not so red anymore) and are so glad we chose to stay in the area (now with kids in tow) on this last trip back. This trip we split a week between the kohola coast and Puna, and the consensus among our family and those we were traveling with was that the half-week at this house was the highlight of the trip. We were wary that this on the "rainy side" of the island, but all we saw were short-lived isolated showers and certainly didn't have the overcast common in Hilo.
The home is clean and well maintained, in a quiet neighborhood with enough space and greenery between the houses for privacy. It has a nice central layout, open kitchen and wrap around deck. Having no AC was not a problem and the house stayed cool by leaving the windows open. The tide pools were an easy walk away, with the clearest snorkeling on the island. Please be careful not to step on the coral when you go!
We started planning our next trip back as soon as we left!
What a lovely stay we had at Walea Hale. The house was just what I wanted for our stay in the Kapoho area. We had plans to see the lava flow by bike and boat and this was a perfect location for our adventures. I have snorkeled in the tide pools on previous occasions but what a treat to be walking distance. This is one of my favorite spots in the islands by far! The property manager was very accommodating calling to let us know we could get into the house early. This made it easy to go grocery shopping on the way to the house. We highly recommend Lava Ocean Tours if you want to see the lava ocean entry. They launch right down the road at Isaac Hale Beach Park. It made getting up for the sunrise easy vice a drive from Hilo. We really enjoyed relaxing in the house, wandering the neighborhood up to Champagne Pond, tidepool snorkeling. It's also easy to get to Pahoa for dinner and the market. The only downside was the winds were coming inland and caused our bike/hike tour to be cancelled two nights in a row. Se we need to come back!
A short walk to the Wai'Opae tide pools, 15 min to the town of Pahoa, 5 min to the thermal ponds, 10 min to boat launch and surf beach, 1 hour to Volcanoes National Park.
