About Patrina Nickson

I grew up in Elberta and inherited this lovely little house from my father. I have had it totally remodeled into the perfect hideaway to get away from it all in beautiful northwestern Michigan. If I could, I would spend the whole summer there myself! I hope that the people who stay in my Elberta Village Hideaway will love it and the Benzie County area with its lakes and rivers and gorgeous scenery as much as I do.

Patrina Nickson purchased this house in 2009

Why Patrina Nickson chose Crystal Lake

Elberta is a quiet peaceful village that is just a hop and a skip away from lots of fun places.

What makes this house unique

The Elberta Village Hideaway is in the perfect location - it's minutes from the sandy Lake Michigan beaches and within walking distance of the Betsie River. Elberta Lifesaving Station (wedding venue) is 1.1 miles down the road. The Betsie Valley Trail (biking) is accessible approximately 2 blocks from the house and runs to Thompsonville. A quick 20 minute drive takes you to Crystal Mountain for golf or skiing. There are casinos and shopping in Manistee and Traverse City, 30 and 45 minutes away. Frankfort is 1 mile away on the north side of Betsie Bay and has unique shops. There are 135 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Benzie county. There is also an nice private back yard to relax in.

Great visit!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Beautiful cottage, very clean, and location is perfect bike ride or very short drive to Frankfort and Frankfort beach. Kitchen is well stocked for any kind of cooking we wanted to do. Having access to clothes washer/dryer was a great convenience. And the kids appreciated the WiFi. Definitely looking forward to a return visit!

Perfect cottage near bike trails!

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is perfect for a small family we had 3 adults and 2 children and it worked beautifully for us. The place is very clean and has everything you could need. The living room is bigger than I thought from pictures. The beds were comfortable as was the living room furniture. The house is 0.2 miles to the bike trail head and walking distance to a café and restaurant. There are plenty of towels and bedding for your stay as well as a very convenient washer/dryer.

The only recommendation for future Is to put up a few hooks in the bathroom to hang towels and such on.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the suggestion. I will be installing additional hooks for hanging towels, etc, in the bathroom as soon as they can be purchased.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our stay. The house was very clean and the fenced in back yard was great for our dog. The town was very quiet during our stay. The house is in a wonderful location, plenty close to everything we wanted to do. We loved riding our bikes on the Betsie Valley Trail, visiting the beaches, fishing in both Elberta and Frankfort, hiking the dunes, visiting Gwen Frostic's studio, etc. We are very thankful our dog could come with us. We would love to come back again!

Beyond PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was absolutely perfect for out stay in Elberta/Frankfort! It's close proximity to everything- the dunes, beaches, lake, town & nestled in a quaint little neighborhood. The cottage itself is clean, cozy and has all the necessities you need to make yourself right at home! The owner was super accommodating when we arrived earlier than expected, our dogs enjoy the fenced in backyard and my now fiance and I actually got engaged while on our trip! We will FOR SURE be coming back to visit the cottage again this year!
