We grew up in the Chicago area but found our way to this wonderful area and decided we simply had to live (and work) here. For the past 25 years we have owned and operated the Thorp House Inn & Cottages in beautiful Fish Creek. It was in 1993 that we purchases the Beach House to give our guests another type of type of accommodation from which to choose. We love living in Door County and very recently decided to scale down our work load just a bit by selling the Inn & Cottages.
This gives us the ability to focus on just The Beach House - and to make it an even better 'home away from home' for our guests.
We love to travel but will always live in Door County - and look forward to sharing our Beach House with returning guests as well as new friends!
Owner/Manager purchased this condo in 1993
We decided to buy the Beach House because we have always felt that Fish Creek is the most beautiful village on the peninsula - and the Beach House has the most beautiful view in the village.
The proximity to water is always the first favorite on everyone's list - and a close second is being able to walk to everything in the village. Fish Creek has some of the most unique shops that can be found anywhere. Several of Door County's best restaurants are within walking distance - the famous White Gull Inn should not be missed ...and we can tell you about many more...there's lots of entertainment, live theater, music, outdoor venues...and Fish Creek seems to be the center of it all.
We enjoyed our stay at the Beach House in Fish Creek. Upon arrival, Chris the owner was there to meet us and show us around. She was friendly and helpful. The place was tastefully decorated and clean, clean, clean! The view of the bay across the street was lovely, and the location is perfect. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. We are already planning our stay again next year at the Beach House!

We have rented over a dozen HomeAway properties and this one is definitely at the top of the heap! It's centrally located with a beautiful view, extremely comfortable and well-stocked, the owners were lovely, and everything works so well. Also, it's very quiet, which is impressive for a bustling town like Fish Creek. I think it's definitely the best apartment in town. We will absolutely stay here whenever we're in Door County and will highly recommend it to our friends!
The Beach House in Fish Creek has an exceptional view of the water and Peninsula State Park as it is directly across from the small public beach in Fish Creek. We stayed in the upstairs unit, and enjoyed use of a balcony with this great view. The balcony is sheltered so it is comfortable even in late April. The unit itself was spotless and everything was in working order, even though we were the first guests of the season. The free laundry (with soap) is a super feature; there were fresh flowers on the coffee table. The wireless was fast, and the TV was excellent. Beds and chairs were comfortable. We didn't use the fireplace, but it was nice to have it. We did make use of the great location, walking to all the places to eat, shop and socialize in Fish Creek. When we were too pooped to go out, we had a kitchen to prepare a snack. The unit is compact. For two adults, it was luxurious; if the weather were not great, four adults might find the space a bit confining, but there is room for four to eat, sleep and enjoy the view. We would definitely return.
The Beach House is a wonderful place to stay in Fish Creek. Right in the heart of Door County, the Beach House is exceptionally clean and wonderful hospitality from the owners Chris and Sverre. It has wonderful water views of Fish Creek Beach and close to everything. We have been coming to Fish Creek for 8 years now and this is by far the best place we have stayed. Can't wait to come back next year. Thanks for providing an exceptional place to stay in the heart of DC.
We were delighted with every single aspect of the apartment: perfect location in Fish Creek (and Door County), relaxing covered balcony with water view, immaculate rooms, and fully equipped kitchen. We appreciated all the hints and tips about DC we received during our Monday welcome. We would definitely return and recommend to friends as well.
Sadly, the sailboat tours were not running yet but we found a wonderful tour future renters may enjoy: "Door County Adventure Rafting" Captain Matt runs out of Fish Creek Sat - Wed and Ellison Bay Th & F. Zodiac style boat with 6 person capacity tours the islands off Peninsula State Park or Washington Island area for 2 hours. While not a sail boat it was fast, fun, and the captain was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide.
Never had a bad meal!! For breakfast we tried White Gull Inn, The Cookery, and Harbor View Inn in Baileys Harbor (best cherry stuffed french toast). The Blue Horse Cafe was excellent, their egg sandwich is what an Egg McMuffin can only dream about becoming, we actually drove out of our way gong home for one more cup of coffee!!
Great dinners at the Wild Tomato, Alexander's and carry out from the tavern across the street from the Cookery. Divine smoked salmon and whitefish from Charlie's Smokehouse in Gills Rock.
Harbor Ridge and Simon Creek Winery has some delightful wines which we took back to sip on our balcony with some yummy cheese from Door County Creamery in Sister Bay.
Peninsula State Park was everything we imagined and more, the Segway tours looked like fun.
We are already thinking about the next trip to Door County and can't imagine staying anywhere else!!!!
This rental is everything they said it was…super clean, very convenient location. Many nearby restaurants and shops. Owners met us upon arrival, gave us many tips on what to see and do. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Sand beach directly across the street, fishing on the pier in the park, 3 different live theaters in Fish Creek, bike rentals (3 blocks away), close to several golf courses, antique shops and galleries nearby.
