November in Vermont

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed a long weekend at the lake house. I would recommend it to anyone. High-end appliances- quality towels and linens. We actually christened the brand new gas stove in by baking a roasting chicken via beer can method...I came home to telling my husband I want a new gas stove ! The expansive deck was beautiful-I watched every sunrise except on the last morning because a snow storm moved in. Linda prepped a wheel barrel of logs for us to burn in the fire-pit right next to the lake and we took full advantage late one night while star gazing sitting in the Adirondack chairs. There are too many things to mention--all positive. We have rented homes on HomeAway & VRBO for over 15 years now from Florida to California and I must say this is one of my favorites. Linda was a great hostess !

A great house in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. We have no complaints about the time we were there. It is a great location for traveling through northern Vermont and up into Canada. Great restaurants in the area. Would definitely stay there again.

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Just what we were looking for, peace & quiet. The pictures really don't show you how nice this home is. Lots of privacy, rooms are spread out nicely between three floors. The deck, backyard/fire pit, and the lake are amazing. We spent a few of our nights making smores by the fire pit. The lake is awesome, just a little weedy if you want to swim, but we preferred fishing and relaxing anyway.

Small town and convenience stores within five minutes. Unfortunately we didn't find any great restaurants so we used the grill on the deck and enjoyed the quiet evenings. We would absolutely do this again, but there are to many other places to visit in the world, but this is as good as you will get in Vermont...enjoy!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your 5 star review and for choosing our Lake Salem Property for you family vacation! We really appreciate feedback from our renters as we try to improve our property every year, so we can exceed the expectations of even our return renters! When we stay at the property, we usually don't leave, except for to buy supplies...then grill and enjoy the beautiful Lake Salem view, but, we have found some unexpected gems in the area if you have a return name a few: Pie and Pasta for wood fired pizza and awesome salads... casual Hoagies for the best , hands down, burgers we have ever had made with Pizza Dough buns... The Cow Palace, well known for processing Elk from their own free roaming herd ... Taco... Authentic Mexican Food made by Guzman-Cortez from Mexicalli, Mexico in "Green" environmentally safe containers... and The Brown Cow ... for old fashioned family style breakfast and lunch... and The Derby Line Village Inn.. Northern Vermont's best new fine dining experience, as well as, Bed and Breakfast, lead by Austrian born Chef Fritz with his classical European Culinary training, while traveling the World for the past 35 years as an Executive Chef. Thank you again for your feedback! Sincerely, Linda and TJ

Memories for life

  • 5 of 5

Staying here was more than imagined. The house is beautiful, very well furnished and stocked with more than needed and tastefully decorated. Working with Linda was such a pleasure as she is kind and flexible. The lake was much bigger than I thought and we really enjoyed swimming, kayaking and fishing. I sat on the dock most mornings and took in the beauty of lake Salem. The surroundings were peaceful, the locals so friendly, and everything we needed close by. We had a great time playing pool with the kids, taking them on the boat and just watching them have the best time. There isn't a single thing I would have changed about our vacation except maybe staying longer as it was so saddening to leave. If you choose this home for your vacation you will NOT be sorry...I have no doubt it will exceed your every expectation as it did ours. Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful place for folks to get away!!!!! Until next year!!

Excellent Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Linda and TJ for a wonderful week! The home was even larger than expected, with the downstairs area offering additional privacy. We enjoyed the huge deck and the ideal setting for the fire pit. There were many canoes/kayaks to choose from and the water was calm and great for paddling. We really liked the Jay Peak Tram and the bike trail to Canada as well.

I hesitate to write this 5-star review only because I would like to selfishly keep this place a secret.

Thanks Again,

Stephen Palmer

Best vacation home!!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home was absolutely perfect! The comforts of home, plus all the extras you would want to make your stay special.

Linda and TJ have made this 2-story (+a loft area) home so comfortable, all you need to do is bring clothes and toiletries. Food can be purchased at either of the two major chain grocery stores right in town. Everything else has been provided!

All the furniture is in excellent condition. Not your typical secondhand or yard sale cheapies some lake houses or vacation homes use to furnish. The linens were comfortable & clean, not scratchy. The bathroom towels were soft and big enough. Even the mat at the kitchen sink was commented on because it was comfortable!

The best features included the pool/ping pong table. Great for rainy days or just a fun competition. The kayaks and canoes are ready for the water (plus life vests of all sizes and even water shoes!). And the gas grill on the large deck w/ample seating for all your friends and family. They have truly thought of everything! Outdoor cushions, wifi, wine & champagne glasses, cork screws and Wolfgang Puck pots and pans to make a nice meal. Even a few shelves w/different card and board games. The fire pit near the waters edge was perfect. Adirondak chairs and tables for your s'mores supplies and beverages. They even provide the wood! The long dock out into the water was great for fishing or swimming off of. You can hear the bull frogs almost any time of day. It is quite shallow and a little mucky, but it didn't stop us from swimming out to the floating raft.

This place and location truly is a gem. The NEK is stunning! You're less than 2 hours from Burlington, VT. 2.5 hours from Montreal, QC and only 45 mins from Jay Peak Resort. The Haskell Opera House had a performance of Suessical the Musical w/local talent which we all enjoyed.

Book your time now!
