Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Our cottage is located in the middle of the beautiful sandy beach of Trails End Bay, on Lake Michigan.

Trails End Bay is really one of the most beautiful beaches on this part of Lake Michigan. Trails End Bay is located just West of Mackinaw City at the Straits of Mackinac. The sandy beach and clear water is perfect for swimming and water sports.

Our two bedroom, 1 bath cottage, includes an open floor plan with a large living room and kitchen with eating area. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds with a futon in the living room to accommodate six comfortably. The kitchen features a refrigerator, electric range, built-in microwave, garbage disposal and dishwasher. The cottage faces West which opens it up to the gorgeous views and spectacular sunsets of this part of Lake Michigan.

The Mackinac Straits Area is the home of three National Historic sites. Mackinaw City attractions include, Thunder Falls outdoor family water park, an unique shopping village with free nightly laser light shows at dusk. There is even a live evening lumberjack show. Mackinaw City is also the gateway to Michigan's Upper Peninsula via the 'Mighty Mac' Mackinac Bridge and ferries to Mackinac island. While in Mackinaw city you can tour the Ice Breaker Mackinac, Fort Michlimackinac or try your luck at one of the local casinos.

Fun on the Lake

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent a week in early September in order to visit his childhood home of Mackinaw City. He grew up there and knew where he wanted to be: on the shore of Trails End Bay, which he considers the best swimming in the area. We had a blast. Swam every late afternoon and then watched the most gorgeous sunsets. Spent the days visiting his childhood friends and favorite places. VERY impressed by the trails in Wilderness State Park. The cottage is comfortable, functional, traditional. The lot is perfect for views and access to great swimming. We participated in the famous Labor Day bridge walk. Loved working the challenging puzzles. Appreciated the DVD selection. Dick and Sue were helpful whenever we had a question. Almost no cell phone coverage, but we considered that a lucky break - granted us a real rest. Thanks for a great vacation.

The Turner Family

WOW is all we can say! Even though it rained 5 of the 7 days we were there we had a great time! From trying to count all the mooses in each room, playing the games or doing a puzzle we never ran out of things to do. Loved the bike trails, walking along the beach and going to Mackinac. House was stocked with everything we could have needed. Owners really care about their guests having a memorable time.

Love it!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the cabin very much. It was very comfortable and clean. It had a well-stocked kitchen if you want to cook. The cabin was in a great location close enough to enjoy day trips to local attractions. We would love to rent it again in the future.

Great cottage on the shore!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, adult son and I spent a week at the cottage near the fall foliage peak. The cottage met and exceeded our expectations. The welcoming gift package was well enjoyed and we enjoyed the MOOSE theme. On our first day there we committed to counting ALL the moose but we never completed the mission and I suspect we could not have arrived at an accurate count! The week we were there was unfortunately very rainy yet we remained very busy visiting sites in the area and we truly enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The cottage is very well appointed and very well equipped. We prepare most of our meals and I cannot think of any kitchen item which was not supplied. The yard and beach are awesome and the cottage is so convenient to town, just a couple minutes away. It is so much better than staying in a cramped motel room. Everything was so clean and nicely appointed, I cannot think of a single criticism. Thank you so much Dick and Sue for the great accommodations. We also playing with the nostalgic games and engaging books! We would not hesitate to return again in the future. With the Headlands International Dark Sky Park, Wilderness State park, McGulpin Point lighthouse and Fort Michilmackinac all within a few minutes there is so much to do without even spending a minute in town or on the island. Great place to visit and much thanks for your reasonable rate during our stay.

Lovely Cottage on the Beach

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay! The cottage was very clean and well kept. So many little extras were available to make your stay comfortable. The gift bag was such an unexpected but much enjoyed treat. We particularly appreciated the private, clean, sandy beach and swimming. Our boys, 10 and 13, spent a lot of time building sand fortresses and rock hunting in the water. The hose by the back patio was so convenient for rinsing as well as the clothesline for wet swimsuits. The bugs were relentless, but that is to be expected in the great outdoors! The beds were very comfortable (I got in trouble for oversleeping a couple of times)! We met Mr. Paul, who checked on us during the week. Such a nice, friendly man! Thanks for waiving your photo fee, Mr. Paul!:) We visited many attractions - pictured rocks, soo locks, bear ranch, lumberjack show - everything was a reasonable distance from the cottage to afford easy day trips. If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful, quiet, comfortable week away from home, this is a perfect place to stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Dick and Sue. Blessings to you.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was immaculate, well stocked, spacious and extremely comfortable for our family of four. Everything is exactly as described. The cottage has the cleanest and best stocked kitchen I've encountered in ten years of vacation rentals. The pictures do not do the house justice. There is a spacious yard perfect for energetic boys; the beach is sandy and well kept; the sunsets were spectacular. We especially enjoyed the fire pit on the beach and the provided board games.

The location is quiet and private but actually quite close to the Interstate and the attractions in Mackinaw City.

The owners provided detailed information prior to arrival which helped us eliminate some items from our packing - i.e., we did not have to pack our own paper towels, griddle, or crock pot. They also went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable in every way. Cell phone coverage was variable but the owners have provided a cell phone signal booster to help. Data coverage was non-existent - I suspect this is true of the entire area - but there are several free Wifi locations (the owners provided a list) minutes from the house. The welcome gift was very nice extra!
