Yosemite Area Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, l full bath, sleeps 6

Thank you for choosing 'Cozy Cub'. If you're looking for the perfect rental accomodation, not into camping and not wanting to spend a lot of money, you have found the perfect place for relaxation and fun. This cabin is only six years old, impeccably maintained, loaded with amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen, a Direct Satelite TV with DVD player, and a gorgeous view of the forest right outside your window. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other bedroom has two bunk beds (for up to 4 persons). This unit is located in the downstairs floor of the cabin. It is accessed by and outside stair case on the side of the cabin.

Yosemite West is the perfect location for your mountain getaway. We are centrally located inside the gates of Yosemite National Park. Just 30 minutes south of the valley floor one milesfrom Glacier Point Road and just 5 miles from Badger Pass ski area and 30 minuites (15 miles) from Glacier Point. You are likely to see wild animals such as coyotes, deer and maybe even an occassional bear looking for a free meal (please do not feed them).

You can hike the nearby nature trails or ski at Badger Pass; the cross-country skiing along Glacier Point Road and the trails to the cliffs are spectacular in the extreme! They are all a short 20 minute ride from the front door, even in winter.

No matter who you spend your vacation, you'll come away with lifelong memories to share with your family and friends.

Serviceable, but little more than location for the money

Advanced communication was extensive and timely. Directions were spot on. Owner has seemingly converted their downstairs into a rental unit. Fairly spartan which is fine in a woodsy setting. Parking was easy and plenty and the roads were well marked. If you have AT&T, there is no cell signal at all. Beds were poor, they were "working on" getting internet. No laundry or many/any other extras.

We were slated to stay two nights. We were quite excited. When we got to the unit, it was sealed up tight and over 80 degrees inside! We got in and found the screens on three of the four primary windows were completely beat up and could not function as screens! The unit had no air conditioning (stated upfront) but at night, historically the temps cooled off to a level we saw this as no problem. With the screens non-functioning, we did not wish to invite the zika virus inside with the many mosquitos around so we tried leaving the windows closed and just opening the one intact screen door in the master bedroom. While this somewhat cooled off that room, without any cross ventilation, it was still far too hot for our kids to sleep comfortably at 10pm. WE decided to go ahead and open the kids room window and the living room windows and it cooled off immediately...but by the wee hours of the morning the place was riddled with mosquitoes and nobody could sleep. My oldest got eaten up. Other had some bites. I closed the windows back up and killed as many as we could see. Largely a horrid night sleep was had by all.

In the morning, we drove to civilization and texted the owners, told them either we needed the screens fixed or we needed to leave a day early - we simply should not be expected to have another night like that in a room at this caliber of stay. There response was basically to say "nobody else had ever complained". I frankly didn't care what anybody else had said, I took pics of the broken screens and again asked if they could be fixed before we returned to the unit that night. They said they wouldn't be looked at for several days. Our family decided rather than risk flying attack and another horrid night we would go back and check out and find another place. Put quite a damper on an otherwise beautiful experience.

Good location if you can't stay in the valley, good accomodations

  • 3 of 5

We had a nice stay at Cozy Cub, very close to the road that leads to Glacier Point.

The good: awsome sunset view from the living area; great grill, nice personal touchs with hiking tips, etc.

Not so good: dead batteries on remotes,; I personally did not care for some of the sheets quality; be aware you are staying on the unit down the stairs (2 sets of stairs to get there).

Owner's Response: We'll happy to hear you enjoyed the sunsets and little niceties. We apologize for the battery missing in the remote control. We suspect that one of the prior guests (probably a child) borrowed it to use for their game. It has been replaced and we'll be sure to check on the remotes after each stay. Thanks for staying at Cozy Cub. Pat & Mike

A small, but nice place to stay in Yosemite National Park

  • 4 of 5

I was surprised to find a place inside the park when searching for a weekend rental near Yosemite National Park. The rental is part of the lower level of a large house in Yosemite West, which is a quiet residential development off of highway 41. Those who are sensitive to high altitudes should know that this house is at almost 6000 ft. above sea level. The place was clean and well-equipped. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, and kitchen supplies (including coffee filters). That is a good thing because the nearest store is about 30 minutes away. There is a large deck, but the view is only so-so due to all of the trees. Still, this is a nice space to have a beer after a day of hiking in the park. The sleeping arrangements were fine for our group (parents + two grown children) but potential renters should know that there is only one bedroom (with queen bed). The other bedroom would more properly be described as a bunk-room with two sets of bunk beds. This was fine for our short stay and I am told that the couch in the kitchen/dining area was fine for sleeping.

I would recommend this rental for families with children. The quick access to the park allows renters to get an early start of their day of outdoor activities in Yosemite (one of the most beautiful of our national parks).
