The cottage is located on beautiful Lac Vieux Desert Lake in the heart of Wisconsin's northwoods lake country and the Nicolet National Forest. We are just a few miles north of Eagle River, WI. We are open all year round and offer you a knotty-pine interior cottage that will suit all your lodging and accommodation needs, all surrounded by beautiful and fragrant old pine trees and majestic oaks. There is an abundance of wildlife here, on the lake and in the area. Make sure you bring a pair of binoculars with you - there are a lot of eagle nests all around the lake and you can see and hear eagles and loons every day. You will also see ducks, swans, and otters here. Deer very often visit the area.
We are located on the south shore of Lac Vieux Desert, the headwaters of the Wisconsin River.
Our beautiful lake is famous of its record musky (a World Record Musky was caught here), walleye, northern pike, perch, small mouth and large mouth bass and panfish fishing, and is one of the largest in the state with 4300 acres and 19 miles of fantastic shoreline and 4 islands. The cottage (located 70 yards from the lake's shore) has 250' lake frontage and we have two piers.
You will be very happy with our spacious, modern, super clean, housekeeping 2 bedroom cottage which can accommodate up to 6 guests on 1 double bed, 2 twin beds and a queen size pull-out sofa. Quotes you receive through this site are based on a standard rate for up to 4 guests in the cottage. There is an extra fee required for the 5th and 6th person in the cottage: $60 per week per person, or $25 per night - whichever is less. The cottage is completely furnished including bed linens. A big, modern kitchen has a full size refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and all necessary pots, pans, plates and utensils. There is also a DVD player and a TV set in the cottage (there is no TV reception at our location). You can bring your PET for a vacation here: a weekly rate is $75 per pet; a daily rate is $35 for the first night and $10 for the following night(s).
For your enjoyment, outside the cottage you will find charcoal grill, fire pit (for weekly rentals we provide a couple of armfuls of firewood for free), and picnic table. For weekly rentals a 14-foot aluminum, fishing boat with oars is also included to fish the lake or just to relax on the water. We also rent a boat with a motor for $199/week + gas used, or $60/day + gas used. After a successful fishing day you can use our fish-cleaning house to clean your fish and then freeze the fish (if you want) in a big freezer there.
Come stay with us any time of the year and enjoy many wonderful vacation activities in spring and summer such as swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing, hiking, berry picking, golfing, horse back riding, bicycling, ATV riding, scenic driving and wildlife watching. There is plenty to do in fall and winter, too. You can enjoy watching the northern forests burst into brilliant fall colors as well as hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling or cross country skiing. The cottage is located on the snowmobile trail and you have access to 600 miles of Vilas County snowmobiling trails in the Nicolet National Forest.
We bought the property in 2007 because we were coming for vacation to Lac Vieux Desert lake for the last 20 years and we're in love with the Northwoods. We appreciate the beauty of this area and we want our guests to enjoy themselves so we do our best to make their stay comfortable and memorable.

Lac Vieux Desert lake (4300 acres) is the best all year round fishing lake in Northern Wisconsin. It is located in the heart of 650,000 acres of Nicolet National Forest and very close (the north shore of the lake) to 2.2 million acres of Ottawa National Forest. This lake offers a lot of fishing excitement (musky, walleye, northern, crappie, bluegill, perch, bass) as well as wonderful relaxation like no other place in the Northwoods.
We stayed in Cabin #2 which is very private and steps from the dock/water. The cabin was VERY CLEAN and had everything we needed for our stay. The space was very comfortable with plenty of room. We viewed breathtaking sunsets and the most brilliant stars sitting on the dock. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away to boat, fish, sight see or just relax. My only negative would be no wi-fi in cabin since there is no TV and the cell service (Verizon) is very spotty, especially on the lake.
Oak Ridge is beautifully located on very picturesque Lac Vieux Desert Lake. The hosts, M.Steven and Katherine are very nice, very helpful and always ready to give good advice. There are plenty of fish in the lake and we caught the biggest fish in our lives this August - 49 inch musky! You can see a lot of wildlife all around this lake - lots of eagles, for example. We've been here already 9 times in the last 3 years and every season here is a great time for a family vacation. The place is very private and peaceful. The cottage is very comfortable, very spacious and very well maintained. We appreciate the fact that we can take our dog for a family vacation. We highly recommend this place and we'll be back again for sure.

Stayed at oak ridge resort aug 1 thru the 8th 2015 pictures are deciving. Paid extra for a cabin with a fireplace that did not work. It qas a pellet stove. The furnace pilot light kept going out, it did get chilly so we were looking forward to a fire in the fireplace. It was also tough to get our boat to the cottage. Too many trees blocking the roadway. The cottage was nice and clean.
This is a great get away. The cabin is close to the lake with great views. The sunsets were fantastic. The cottage was very clean with one of the nicest bathrooms I have seen in a cabin. Even with the unpredictable weather we caught some of the biggest crappies I have ever seen on Lac Vieux Desert. The owners are extremely helpful and will even instruct you on how to fillet a northern. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet clean place to stay and do a lot of fishing.
This was a great get away. The cottage is very cozy and close to the water with a great view of the lake. The sunsets were fantastic. The cottage was very clean and had one of the nicest bathrooms of any cottage we ever stayed at. Even with unpredictable weather, we caught some of the biggest crappies I have ever seen on Lac Vieux Desert. The owners were extremely helpful with everything even instructed us on how to clean a northern. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet place to stay and do lots of fishing.
We were very impressed the minute we picked up the phone and made a reservation. Super accommodating since we were coming in towards the end of the week and only staying a few days. The cabin was PERFECT. Clean, Cozy and had everything we needed. Owners super accommodating and very helpful on every aspect. Shopping was close and the water even closer. You want a great little cabin at an affordable price. Stay at Oak Ridge Cottage and you will be pleased that you did. We have made reservations to go back two more times this season, so book your reservation NOW. Carol and John
