About Owner/Manager

Mom, teacher, world traveler, settled in Tahoe for the great lifestyle and peaceful woods. Our family made Talmont our vacation home for many years before we made the permanent move to Tahoe.

Now 2 years and 2 rentals later, busy life has led us to look for help. Kristen began working for us the summer of 2013 helping us oversee our properties.

We want to share with other families the incredible beauty, fun and relaxation of Tahoe's Best Shore, the West Shore!

Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Owner/Manager chose Tahoe City

Easy access from Reno/Tahoe Int'l Airport, Sacramento Int'l Airport, the SF bay area. Nearby attractions/activities: The Tahoe National Forest and Sierra Nevada mountains provide skiing/snowboarding, boating, hiking, camping, backpacking, etc.

Best cabin ever!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been in search of that "perfect" cabin for 18 years and we can honestly say we found it with this cabin! It's so beautiful, wonderful layout, great kitchen and the deck...omg! You may never want to leave. I know we didn't. Already looking forward to renting it next year. I told my husband, if it ever goes on the market, I'd beg, borrow and steal to buy this home!

Nice, big house in great location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed all over the west and north shore of LT, and this has been our favorite house so far. The location is fantastic, about halfway between Tahoe City and Homewood, so quick access to Tahoe City/Squaw/Alpine and the stores/etc. on the west shore. It is also big enough for a family to never experience "cabin fever" while up in the mountains.

The kitchen was very well equipped, which we appreciated very much, and all the beds were comfortable. Making a wood fire was easy with the gas starter, so that was nice.

Kristen, who was the property, was absolutely terrific answering any questions and giving us a heads-up whenever the guy shoveling the deck and stairs (thank you) would be coming by.

We will definitely be requesting to stay here again in the future--thank you for having us.

Perfect getaway house

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what an amazing cabin. All the comforts and luxuries you could ask for in an ideal setting. Moments from the lake. Easy access to skiing and snowboarding. We took advantage of the deck and yard for snowman building, and made some great meals in a kitchen I wish I had at my house.

Oh, and my child wants me to mention the climbing wall in kids room. Such an amazing place. I'll be returning.

The house is fine. Several things need to be fixed like: shades in all rooms and kitchen cabinets.

  • 2 of 5

We were there for a week for New Year 2016. Unfortunately it started to snow heavily. We were stuck in the house for days. Snow removal was very inefficient. We had to clear the driveway by ourselves many times! The road to get to this house is very dangerous when snowing and covered in ice! There was also a power outage for 2 days. We were freezing and there was no hot water. We didn't get assistance from the owner. They basically told us we were on our own. There were no white candles, just a bunch of old vanilla scented candles that didn't make any light. There was only one emergency portable light. Not enough for six people.

This house is good only in the summer or fall.

Owner's Response: We are sorry to hear you felt we were not responsive to your needs. Unfortunately, Tahoe has experienced many severe storms this winter and your visit happened to be during one of them. It was a tough storm for everyone in the entire area, as we had no control over the weather and all the challenges that it brought. We prepare our guests and the houses as best as possible. Yes, the house is up a steep hill and we make all our guests aware of this prior to arrival in our Renter’s Info Sheet. We thoroughly discuss winter driving recommendations so our guests are prepared with snow tires and/or chains. We spoke with you and all our guests during the power outage to make sure everyone was aware of the location of emergency supplies. The garage was stocked with plenty of hardwood and kindling to make fires. The stove tops are gas and can be lit manually for hot water or cooking. We provide long wood matches, a box of short matches and long gas lighters. The fireplace has large glass candles and there are other candles throughout the bedrooms. There is a battery powered lantern available as well as an oil lantern that works well for bright light. As far as snow removal, we believe the entire Tahoe basin did the best they could to deal with the amount of snow we received in a short amount of time. Most of us in the basin are still working on snow removal from that storm, weeks later. It’s an adventure vacation for everyone when blizzards roll through. There is only so much everyone can do but to be patient. We are so sorry for the inconvenience and don’t blame you for leaving a bad review. We wish we could leave that storm a bad review too!

Perfect for a family with kids!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin! It was in a great location just outside of Tahoe city and perfectly appointed. We have an almost 2 year old and a 5 year old and the cabin was stocked with stuff for them: books, sit and spin, stuffed animals, trucks, puzzles, games, a stroller, sleds, even a pack and play in addition to the 2 bunk beds in the kids room! The kitchen is awesome, nice gas stove, stocked with all kinds of pots, pans, serving dishes, good knives and everything we needed to make meals at home. The cabin also has a huge mud room which was a really convenient way to keep track of all the snow gear. The hot tub was hot and perfect. The deck was super fun for the little ones to play in the snow. The beds were comfortable. The washer and dryer work great and there was plenty of everything (towels, bedding, blankets etc). We had a wonderful stay. Thank you :)

Owner's Response: Sounds like your family got full use of everything the Cozy Cabin offers. That is just great! We love to hear our guests enjoying the comforts of the cabin. Talmont area is our absolute favorite, being a little away from town but close enough to make a quick trip. We appreciate the nice review and hope to host your next Tahoe stay.

Best West Side Tahoe Experience

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week's stay at Cozy Cabin. My husband and I + 6 year old dog loved it there. The cabin itself is lovely, with a fantastic deck (fully glass enclosed - great for pup), new hot tub, comfortable deck furniture, heat lamp and gas barbecue (definitely used & appreciated). The inside open layout of the cabin worked well for us. The living room area was perfect for watching movies on the big screen TV (great sound); yet, across the room is a separate sitting area with wonderful natural lighting from the windows behind, as well as overhead lighting (with dimmers) - perfect for reading and seeing the panoramic views. The fireplace was a godsend. Great heat and beauty as well. The upstairs master bed was super comfy, and the gas fireplace was a nice extra each morning. The kitchen lacked nothing. We ate most meals at "home", so we used most of the amenities.

We have never stayed on the West Side before, nor this late in the year, usually choosing either further north or south shore. But we found we prefer this location and October for several reasons. First, it's quieter, no crowds. We love to hike/walk, though the strenuous hiking is no longer. We always enjoy walking the Truckee River trail from Tahoe City to River Ranch. Even though the river was very low this year, it's still a pretty walk. Our second day brought snow. What a treat! Although not heavy, watching the flurries from inside the fire-warmed cabin as they left a snowy coating on the deck was magical. However, not enough snow to keep us snowbound, we donned our winter clothing and headed for Tahoe City. We walked along the lakeside trail in the snow heading toward Dollar Point. Ended with a hot drink at Bridgetender before returning to the cabin. Awoke to brisk, clear and sunny skies the next day which continued for the rest of our week. The lakeside walk in Incline (near Hyatt) is scenic, easy, and has an unfenced large grassy dog park across the street. After, savored yummy steamed mussels and drinks by the fire in the Hyatt bar. On another day even though some road construction is ongoing, we walked the lengthy trail from Sunnyside toward Homewood. But, our best hike was Paige Meadows (2x), so near the cabin in Talmont. 5 connecting meadows with changing autumn colors, great trail for walking or mountain biking.

The manager was very professional and helpful, even allowing us early check in. Hopefully, the Cozy Cabin in October will become our annual tradition.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the in depth review Marilyn! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed the beautiful off season in Tahoe. Very pleased you were able to take full advantage of the house and it's surroundings. Thank you for taking great care of the cabin and we hope to see you again in the future! Maybe a little Spring trip when we have a little snow on the ground and not as many visitors as well..
