This area is called Dutch Kills and its a a small neighborhood right in between Astoria and Long Island City to very popular destinations for cafe's and restaurants. We have 3 very famous galleries with in a walking distance. Fisher Landau Center for Art, Flux Factory and PS1 which is part of the Modern Museum of Art (MoMa) Since this area is so close to Queensboro Bridge the main transportation hub of Queens this has traditionally been a place for back businesses supplying Manhattan with bread, truffles, silk, etc but over the last 10 years artists have taken over these warehouse spaces and made them into work/live loft studios. Its a very interesting area and I think you will be very pleased.

Wonderful intimate neighborhood close to LaGuardia Airport and easy access to midtown
Clean, comfortable, bright and sunny. Stefan is a delight and bent over backwards to accommodate any request! From a corner apartment close to the street it was very quiet.
A very pleasant stay
We were overall happy with the property. Steffan was incredibly responsive an helpful. When booking, we had some concerns about whether the bar below would generate noise, but it didn't. The area was very quite with easy access to multiply subway lines with q quick commute to the city. The neighbourhood wasn't quite what we expected, in that it did feel a bit dead at night, but that came with the benefit of quietness and good sleep, which can be quite hard to get so close to the centre of NYC.
comfortable for a large group
My family and I had a great time staying at the Dutch Kills Inn! Stephan was very responsive and let us check in early when our flights came in in the early afternoon. The space was clean and spacious. The furniture was a bit worn, as was the flooring, but not really an issue. Only problem I had from that standpoint was that our mattress/bed (in the middle room) was incredibly loud and squeaky. Needs to be replaced. And the couch could use a replacement as well, as it wasn't all that comfortable to sit in, but still wasn't bad.
The location was quite good! 2 blocks to get to the N or W trains, but with lots of trackwork, that station was frequently closed during our stay. It was only a 7-10 min walk to several other stations, though, which made it convenient to choose which line would work best for our plan that day getting into the city! Commuting into the city wasn't bad either - 15 min on the N train to central park, and 30 min or so to anywhere south of that.
There was little to no street noise - very residential area, which was great. The bar/restaurant downstairs was good - we went for a late night snack and drinks one night - and never too loud, which was my only worry going into it.
Overall, this spot was a good price for a large group to stay in proximity to NYC compared to any hotel rooms in the city.
Roomy flat, perfect location, excellent host!
My family and I recently stayed in this flat for ten nights while visiting New York City. There were six of us including my mother, myself, my three kids (in their late teens/twenties) and my daughter's boyfriend. The three bedrooms gave us all space to spread out, while the wonderful living area and kitchen gave us space to be together as well. Steffan, the owner, went out of his way to make sure we had a pleasant stay and made himself easily available during our entire visit should we have needed him. The location was excellent--the flat is above the Dutch Kills Centraal Gastro Pub (which has wonderful food) but we did not notice any noise or food smells from the restaurant. There was a convenience store directly across the street where we purchased foods for breakfasts and snacks. We were just a few blocks from three different tube stations, which allowed us to choose from the 7, E, M, N, Q & R lines and get anywhere we desired to go! There were plenty of beds for all of us, with extra linens and blankets. The flat came complete with everything we could possibly have asked for, including a large screen television, a computer and wifi, a fully stocked kitchen with a coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, etc, and a large selection of food in the cupboard. The bathroom was quite large and contained a full sized washer and dryer, as well as plenty of towels and also shampoos and lotions. The only problem we ran into at all during our visit was that one of the beds had very squeaky springs--however with the large number of alternative places to sleep everyone in our group (except my daughter and her boyfriend who slept together) had a comfortable bed to themselves without anyone having to sleeping in that bed. I would wholeheartedly recommend this flat to anyone staying in the area and will definitely be staying there again the next time we visit New York City!
An unforgettable stay in a great neighborhood!!
I rented this house as a mini getaway for my family. It was plenty big enough for three adults and three children. The location was excellent. The bodega across the street served up delicious food practically all day. The Brazilian bar on the other corner had delicious burgers and desserts.
We were able to visit many of the local museums and we were delighted to stumble upon the Gantry Plaza State Park.
The apartment served as the perfect place to wind down at the end of the evening. The beds and linens were comfortable, everything was clean, and the shower had fantastic water pressure...always a plus.
Just like home
I traveled with my family, my parents, my brothers and my younger sister. As a big family always is quite complicated and expensive to get a proper accommodation when we are away. However "Dutch kills" apartment and of course Steffan really made our stay a really nice experience. Starting with the easiness of the website to find and pay for the place. After that the kindness and prompt of Steffan´s responses to our enquiries. following that on our arrival we confirmed that the pics in the web site shows exactly how the flat is, a warm, well decorated, spacious and beautiful place. We felt just as at home. By the way my mum loved the kitchen :)
Thanks again Steffan.
