Recommended Rental Cars on the island.

Tropical Auto Rental

KK and T Auto Rentals

Grace Bay Auto Rentals

Rental Cars will give you a choice of the main agencies (avis, hertz, etc.) at a discounted rate. I have used them in the past and have sometimes found good prices – not always it pays to shop around.

I have never had any problem with any of these agencies. The first 3 will meet you at airport, give you the car and you are on your way. Avis, hertz will drive you to their office – which is nearby and will give you the car. Also you might want to request a cell phone to use on the island to make reservations, etc. unless you have an international plan with your cell phone company. The phone is free and they will put in as much money as you want and you can always add as you go along if you need. Don't forget to request it when you reserve your car.

About Ana

We have lived in New Jersey most of our lives. Both my husband and I were born in Spain but came to the USA at the age of 11 and 15 with our parents who were pursing the American dream. We have been married for 33 years and have two daughters.

Ana purchased this condo in 2012

Why Ana chose Wheeland Settlement

Our first visit to Turks and Caicos was January 2012. We stayed at the other end of the island and while there we enjoyed the January weather and heard that that was the way it was pretty much all year round, a little hotter but no humidity. At that point we looked through the real state magazines and found Northwest Point Resort. We immediately called the realtor, as we only had 4 days left of our vacation, and she showed us this unit. We fell in love with it and decided to purchase. We specifically liked the beautiful ocean view from the third and 4th floor and the constant breeze. We loved the grounds and how we'll they were maintained. The beach was what we wanted, peaceful and could take long walks along it, which we love doing.

What makes this condo unique

Quiet, peaceful, unblocked views of ocean and sandy beach

Guestbook comments from the owner

The unit was well equipped with ample kitchen utensils and appliances, and hair dryers in the bathrooms. We ate breakfast every day on the patio and cooked in two nights grilling on the new gas BBQ behind the restaurant. The other nights we took advantage of Ana's restaurant suggestions, which were perfect. I would suggest a drink at Magnolia for the view, before heading down to the Tiki Hut or Mango Reef for dinner. We did manage to go to the Conch Shack at least four times and was always greeted as family. We also tried Chinson's BBQ for lunch and even did take out another day. The new grocery store, Smart, is a bonus being closer by.

The most difficult part of the trip was getting the motivation to leave Ana's condo, the meticulous and beautiful grounds of the resort, the pool and hot tub and the isolated beach.

Thank you Ana for the stay, and I hope we can return again next year.

Great condo with amazing views.

  • 5 of 5

The views from the condo were amazing, especially enjoyed the breeze in the master suite with all the windows open! It was very quiet and secluded. My husband and our two children (21 and 19) had lots of room. We explored different beaches every day. Snorkeling on Smith's reef, enjoyed beaches at grace bay and sapodillo bay (worth renting jet skis to go cliff jumping )! But we took a ferry to north and middle Caicos one day and I must say that mudjens harbor was breathtaking and favorite beach! Also Bambara beach was spectacular in middle Caicos. Absolutely a must! We rode horses on the beach in Provo (Caicos corral) and it was perfect. Riding the horses in the water was amazing. Food is expensive but recommend the bakery next door to the IGA. Great sandwiches and salads and not too expensive. Also try the "Ain gon lie" local beer. It was reeally good. Perfect condo, perfect trip!

Beautiful condo with breathtaking view!

  • 5 of 5

The photos don't do this condo justice! It is absolutely beautiful :) My family and I recently returned from Turks and Caicos, we had a wonderful vacation. The condo and resort amenities had everything we could have asked for. We spent a number of days exploring the island and different beaches but also enjoyed staying at the beach at Northwest Point Resort. The resort was very relaxing, there was a restaurant, pool, kayaks, paddle boards and plenty of chairs and umbrellas on the beach. We explored the area and found conch shells, about a 30 minute walk on the beach (just as Ana told us). The staff was very friendly and helpful. We received helpful information from the homeowner Ana prior to us arriving. It included everything from directions to the beaches, where to grocery shop and what restaurants and beaches were the best to visit. Ana recommended KK and T's car rental, Andrew took good care of us. He even sent someone out to change our flat tire. The condo had everything we needed, we enjoyed playing scrabble and cards in the evening. The sunrises on the balcony were breathtaking and we didn't have to go far to see them. I would highly recommend this condo. The homeowner makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay there (beach chairs, pool noodles, etc). We were able to enjoy breakfast every morning on the balcony, pack lunches for the beach and cooked a couple of times in the condo. If we ever go back to Turks and Caicos I would not hesitate to rent Villa Mera from Ana again.

Beautiful & Secluded

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time in Villa Mera last week. If you're looking for a place that's secluded and away from the crowds, this property is the place for you. Yes, the beach has seaweed. Yes, you need a car. Yes, the amenities aren't as fancy as the Grace Bay resorts. But we felt safe and well-taken care of. The views from the balconies were incredible. The beds were comfy. Three of us stayed in Villa Mera and four others were in a different unit, and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was awesome!

Great Property, Lots of Privacy, Plenty of Room

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Villa Mera in June 2017 and had a great time. The unit was spacious and clean and had great views from two of the bedrooms and from the two balconies. The owner gave great instructions on how to get to the resort along with recommendations for restaurants, places to eat, where to shop and beaches to visit. This was very helpful. The beach at Northwest Point is nice but does not have the clear blue water like some of the other beaches in Turks. It's a short 20-25 minute drive to these beaches. As others have mentioned, this property is not in the middle of all the action like the Grace Bay properties. It's quiet and the only resort in the area. We enjoyed this as there weren't many people on the beach and chairs were always available. Many times during the week we were the only ones on the beach or in the pool/hot tub. I would definitely recommend this resort if you're OK with a little drive into town.

Peaceful and Tranquil

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from our stay at Villa Mera and we were very pleased with Ana's condo. The condo is very nicely decorated with beachy decor and has pretty much everything you would need to cook meals in the kitchen (including from the looks of it brand new stainless steel appliances). The unit was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, towels and linens were clean and soft. Ana's condo had beach toys and chairs for the beach. Days before our arrival, Ana sent over instructions and directions as well as suggestions for supermarkets, beaches, and places to eat. As a family of 5 with three small children, we opted for family-friendly restaurants - Kalooki's and Tiki Hut just to name a couple. We hit Grace Bay Beach as well as Sapodilla Bay, which was by far our favorite beach! For those with young kids or for those looking for peace and quiet and very little waves - Sapodilla Bay is for you! A rental car is a must as Northwest Point is about 15-20 minutes away from everything. As busy New Yorkers, we enjoyed the tranquility at NWPR. It was nice having a beach all to yourself as well as a huge pool. The resort was very quiet and we felt very safe.

A beautiful secluded setting

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned last night and all I can say is "take me back"! The condo is exactly as shown in the pictures (in fact it's better in person) as soon as you enter the unit you are awed by the maginificent views. It was well stocked and didn't need anything additional. It was super comfy- especially the beds which I find many people ignore when renting out their spaces. You definitely need a car to get there - (we rented a suv from AVIS and toured the entire island and hit multiple beaches.) We used the kayaks and found reefs in the area and even did some snorkeling. The beach is very private and relaxing- we felt comfortable enough to leave our items unattended when others were around and enjoyed long walks. The last morning I took a jog about 30 minutes along the beach and found an area that had a bunch of huge Conch shells!!!

We cooked 2 nights in the condo to save money as we found dining was very expensive in areas. Especially when we found restaurants were not consistent in how they charged you. So be mindful of the service charges.

We can't wait to come back with some family members and will definitely want to stay here again!!

Owner's Response: We are very happy you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your review. Yes the food is expensive on the island, but I guess that's how most islands are. We try cooking some meals in the comfort of our home also. The grill downstairs is great so we do most of the cooking there. Our beach to the left towards the end has some of the prettiest conch shells I have seen on the island. Again, thank you for your review and look forward to having you and your family back. Ana
